Wow. All of you are amazing as is your rendition of this classic anthem of a great song by The Band. The Weight has survived generations and will continue to make glad of anyone who loves a good song in generations to come. Thank you. Thank you for honoring Thr Band. Levon, Robbie, gone now. But never forgotten as you live on in this song every time someone hears it. Much love, much much gratitude. To everybody who has ever performed this song!
If anyone ever underestimated the songcraft credentials of the late ,great ,brilliant Robbie Robertson , any lingering doubt has been put to bed by the totally incomparable ' The Weight ' tune which was written in 1967/8 and remains to this day in 2024 a popular music all time classic . In my opinion Robbie was right up there with the very best of them as far as songwriting is concerned . I read recently that Mr Dylan himself was amazed at the quality of 'The Weight ' when he first heard it when The Band and he worked together in Woodstock NY .That's a definitive appraisal in my book ...coming from the greatest of the Rock era .
This is one of the great American tunes, and this performance is spectacular. You can tell how important this song was to each and every one of them. Great to see Crit and Willie on the stage with their old band mates. I think Richard, Rick and Levon would’ve enjoyed seeing this.
My husband's song....he moved on three years ago...my heart still hurting...take a load off fanny.....take a load off and put it right on me...THE BAND best band ever..
“I pulled into Nazareth”…Nazareth, PA…Robbie needed a place for the song he was writing. He looked at his guitar which was branded Martin, Nazareth, PA on the headstock…now you know…
It might be silly to ask, "What's the greatest song ever written?" But if one were forced to ask such a question, "The Weight" is as good an answer as any.
I hear this song and it reminds me of going to and coming from some messed up places. Now many years I'm home safe, fat and gray and happy to be living such a good peaceful life- This is a great version. Thank You for sharing.
There's nothing like seeing a great band in The Mother Church!!! I've been fortunate enough to witness the Black Crowes and Band of Horses... both were made for the Ryman. Took my daughter to see Foster the People there, and they sounded amazing as well. What an awesome venue. If you ever get the chance to visit, DO IT!
It's just after midnight and I'm trying to get back to sleep, and instantly I remember a song I put on a mixtape at age 14 (pushing 66 now) - great to hear it again.
Watched Nitty Gritty Dirt Band cover this in 2012 to honor Levon’s passing, everyone was on their feet singing and crying, my oldest son was with us and Nitty Gritty and The Band are two of his favorites, his blue eyes were red ❤
Grassroots Festival, Trumansburg, NY, July 18, 2024. The place I first saw them way back when they were just busking around. No flashy clothes or hats, just pure energy. Watson was integral to the band and my favorite voice in the band. Both he and OCMS will be th 0:04 ere. I'm hoping they get together on some of their sets.
Yeah imagine this…they went right into “I saw the Light” after this. It was amazing! I was hoping for “Will the circle be unbroken” but they always know how to keep you guessing!

The band, in my opinion, is the greatest band of all time, hands-down. And they did them a lot of justice with this.
A great song has to be appreciated. Don't try to make it better at the risk of making it different. KEEP IT GREAT!! THE WAY GOD MADE IT!!
I am so glad I got to see The Band in '74 with Bob Dylan. Best show ever. Old Crow Medicine Show pays them a great, great tribute ✌🏻❤️🌼
Levon did this song the best. RIP LEVON HELMS AND ROBBIE ROBERTSON
@@lawrencemay8671 R.I.P. Levon, Robby, Rick, and Richard. The only one left is Garth. 😞
Wish they'd played this at Cisco Brewery October of last year.
Possibly the greatest song ever written. So much fun to play, so much fun to listen to. Everybody loves this song. Greatness only!
They look like they are just enjoying the hell out of performing this song. Their enthusiasm is so infectious.
Levon Helm would be proud!
Is proud! 🫡
as would the other members of the group

@@ronherron9020sorry but he died August 9 2023.
@tigerspaw Robbie is immortal as is his phenomenal music . Extraordinary talent !
It’s gotta be a top 5 song of all time
so good to see Ketch and Willie and all the others together again
Just feels good....like it's how OCMS should be
Wow, Molly was looking great and playing great.
Molly is like Linda Ronstadt. She just shows up and rips
Molly has become one of my favorite female performers, That girl has talent !!

Um pretty sure they didnt write this song the band did!!
Well, Americanadian . . . Robbie was technically the writer.
@@allmostbrothersI think that’s why he said Richard Rick and Levon would have enjoyed it
Robbie was Canadian!
Thes e songs must carry on, to each generation, Robbie wrote
Folklore that feels good.
I didn't know that I needed that, but I did. Thank you!
I needed it too
I'm sure the boys would be proud of this.
Worked for THE BAND in think in 1983?
Danko was my favorite guy
Boy that was a long long time ago!
My husband's song....he moved on three years ago...my heart still hurting...take a load off fanny.....take a load off and put it right on me...THE BAND best band ever..
I worked for Levon and the Cate Brothers in 1980 and 81. Listened to this song every night! Never grew tired of listening 🎶
Alota musical talent on that stage. Great cover. Trumpet solo was an unexpected treat.
Thank you Elvis for bringing back Black people on stage in Nashville, Tenn.
Wow. Just wow. I think that's the best cover performance of that song I've ever heard. Love it.
I can't believe how good all these musicians are in this video.Brilliant.
Molly looks adorable
Always does
“I pulled into Nazareth”…Nazareth, PA…Robbie needed a place for the song he was writing. He looked at his guitar which was branded Martin, Nazareth, PA on the headstock…now you know…
I hope you're telling the truth or I'll be really sad. Thats a great origin story.
@@jonnygranville281 It’s true. Robbie did an interview and told the story.
If you don’t know this you don’t know Americana music
Robbie also said he got the name for Fanny from the owner of a bookshop he liked to frequent.
@@lanewallace9083 Didn’t know that.
Best thing The Band ever done, period. Full stop!
Idk the night they drove ole Dixie down cripple Creek yea great songs from that bunch of fellows
The shape I’m in would raise the roof off Levon’s barn when Levon would play it. He closed every midnight ramble with the weight.
We were there last year. We are coming back again
Willie makes it complete
This is the stuff I run on…keeping the faith ✊🏼

They did something very few bands can do: they did justice to the song.
And this right here Folks, is how it's done.... No doubt about it... The Band!!
I used to smoke with Danko
He was a great soul
Cool guy
wow, so great! made my day on my way to work 🙏🙏🙏
It makes me happy to know that Molly and Ketch are an item ❤
I thought Ketch was married?!
@@leftcoastgal5134 Maybe in the past but now its Ketch & Molly!

Top 10 greatest song of all time.
Absolutely stunning!🎉❤
Such a great number to bring out a big ensemble. Nice to see all our favorites together and having fun. Robbie and the boys would approve.

Great song, great cover ! Thx !!!

Love the whole crew, wish I could have made the show
Why on earth did they not let "Molly Tuttle" do a solo????
Bcz men suck.
Not the right time for one I suspect
Maybe she didn't want to.
All the focus would have gone right to her
Maybe she didn't rehearse it.
Love seeing a grey haired Willie Watson smiling ear to ear playing next to Ketch. Couldn’t have asked for a better start to my day.
Is he the guy what does the second verse?
This is about a good or better than any cover I have heard, outstanding
So glad he's back with ya yall love yall ❤
Loved them !
Great job yall
Damn, that was great.
Dude on drums hits hard
Love to Old Crow ❤

OCMS are the best. Love it!
Wonderful, thank you ❤
This is how to cover a great Band tune.
Great rendition ! The right groove ! MV
Oh beautiful.......
That looks like Sami Braman in the blue jump suit and playing fiddle. Love the Onlies!
Yeah imagine this…they went right into “I saw the Light” after this. It was amazing! I was hoping for “Will the circle be unbroken” but they always know how to keep you guessing!
Best cover ever!!
ooof that's one of the greatest versions of this that i've seen them do.
This is an excellent cover.
One of the greatest songs of all time. “Wait a minute Chester”
Absolutely
Nailed it!!!
Thanks for posting, great performance! 😎✌️
EXCELLANT!
“Excellent.”
No Ragrats
Awesome !
The guy who sang the second verse he has such a unique voice!
Willie Watson, not longer a member of the band unfortunately, but a founding member who made a guest appearance, very unique and very good.
I miss Willie in the band so much.
So awesome seeing him up there with them....he was a staple to the original OCMS
Me too
I have never seen a more impeccably dressed ensemble.

Wow that's crazy are you from the future?
Usually these "let's get everyone on stage" things are a mess. Not this.
Almost as Good as THE BAND!! Cheers JJ
Hup! Wow great Circus.
Got dammed good music.....
Late great. He is still alive.
Unfortunately Robbie passed in August. Only Garth left from the Band.
Sami Braman!
fuck yeah
I said wait a minute Chester!
Never could figure out what this song was about .
If you Google it, there are some good articles explaining it.
Yes. It's the real deal
