I just got the Specular Tempus pedal, and I am blown away by the reverb and delay in that pedal. Dare I say better than Strymon? You should definitely check that out!!
I loved the sounds out of that pedal. Definitely has a little bit of mojo in it. I just need more flexibility and my delay/verb functions to be separate, otherwise I’d own one.
I love pedals as much as the next guy, but some funny things happened when I got my FM3. I find myself spending way more time actually playing and creating, and a lot less time lurking on forums and chasing “that sound”. There will likely be an FM9 or an Axe in the future and that will hopefully put an end to running out of DSP and being pulled out of the creative process. I use a Guitto GPB-02 Board powered by a Truetone CS-6 Onespot going which powers my Box Mystic Edge, a Strymon Deco,, Strymon Flint, Strymon Dig, Strymon Bigsky into a Boss Loopstation compact stereo out to my stereo in Roland Jazz Chorus JC-22. My volume pedal is an Xotic effects.
Yup, volume first for me on the board, with the tuner and my wireless running out of the volume pedal. Works great, I don't have to fiddle with knobs much that way.
Hey Brian, I have a very similar board to this setup and evidently the same tastes (bluesbreaker ODs, I also use a DD-500 b/c I previously was using a DD-20, even down the Korg Pitchblack). I shamefully realized I hadn't subscribed to your channel so promptly did that today. I rarely comment on RUclips videos but I just had to to say that this was inspiring to head back to the woodshed and dial in some new / better tone options AND MOST IMPORTANTLY thank you for the brief comments on tithing and debt and being good stewards of our finances. It is easy to get caught up in the "doing it for the Lord" aspect of buying gear but at the detriment of other Biblical principles. Thank you! I've haven't heard ANY of the other "Christian" based channels, gear companies, brands bring that piece to the conversation.
I use the Hx Stomp as my midi controller for my Chase Bliss Automatone and the specular tempus. It changes the banks based on the snapshot and controls the tempo.
I use to use the DD-500 with the two delays one patch I would have a 1/4 and dotted 8th. Inside another bank I used for a dual delay on A and then a latched setting to hold a Pad for B delay sounded super good! And very useful for ambient pads if there isn’t a keys player
If anyone is interested in using the Morning Star for HX Stomp Jason Sadites has good videos on it along with Morningstar themselves. I'm planning on getting the MC6 and using it for my Helix cause I like to have Drive/Reverb/Delay controlled by snapshots and then have my "color" pedals (Trem/Chorus/Vibe/Pitch/Phase) on footswitches.
I’m thinking about buying this board, but I’m a little worried about not being able to have the ML5 visible to see what loops are being turned on. It’s hard to find a 24x18 board that has the nice patch bay on there too.

hi, i love your content - its classy, really lush and very helpful to us all. I'm reaching out to ask how do you get this sort of sustained overdriven sound once you're past your note attack. Something like here 4:39-4:41, 4:48 - is this due to the space reverb trailing on, is this your overdrive pedals, is this your compressor sustain or is this your amp? I've tried so often and cant seem to ge this. I hear this a lot on "champion" by david hislop sound too and i'm trying to figure out what is it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Yeah a lot of the tail of what you’re hearing in those examples is ambient reverb. Doesn’t need to be the Blackhole necessarily- any long tail modulated reverb will give you that effect.
I am glad I chose only to use a tube amp for Worship. With a reactive load box, there is nothing better than utilizing an old Marshall for fullness and touch. Using a Yamaha Magicstomp covers it all. Say no to pedals, and YES to tube amps
You could always get a Fractal Fm3 and have it "just as good" if not better. Unless you want the nightmare that comes with a pedalboard... power supplies, cabling, layout,
@@aaronsanchez93 I purchased a Fractal Fm3. It, without a doubt, bascially trounced my $9K Strymon laden board. In the end I sold the Fm3, because... it was too good I guess compared the all the pedals.
DD500 suck, I've had him like 2 weeks and it wos horible 2 weeks.. I saw very old bad cable doing crooping signal :D It was in the end fun, but I never saw that very bad delaying like DD500. And did you hear about Empress Echosystem? DD500 is litlebit cheaper, but not that much fun
@@jameshalbert181 Yeah I do not have one... yet. I'm am using a sub n up though in the mean time. Works well for songs like see a victory by elevation and any time swell chords are used for ambient stuff. I don't have a stomp yet but I want one of those as well. I'm a pedal dork though and have a collection north of 60 at the moment with no signs of stopping.
@@GuitarGodgt I use the shimmer setting on my Source Audio Collider for swells it has a similar effect of using a POG 2 or sub n up into reverb/ delay but more randomly which feels more ambient to me
@@jameshalbert181 I'm using an oceans 12 for reverb and grand canyon for delay and I'm just not into the shimmer sound on either. I need to give some others a go. I've always been a boss guy when it comes to delay and reverb and only recently decided to give EHX a go and I'm not as into it as I had hoped. Maybe I need to give the 500 series a try, I kind of want to get some pedals with midi control onto my board anyway.

When looking at my board I often ask myself, "When my signal goes into a digital delay pedal, is it analog anymore?"
Depends on whether your delay has analog dry through or not. For some people this is a big deal, for others its not...
