Can you please do a video on a mono pedalboard setup or even a shootout on stereo vs mono? There's not too many resources out there. And just wondering what's your advice on keeping noise low on a pedalboard (no hx stomp) that does not have a noise gate (or do you recommend always having one w/ you)?
thanks for the "let's see how it sounds at the venue" part. I would be curious to see an entire video with tips on tone at venue vs tone at home. I've had issues with tones I've dialed in at home through headphones, amp or through home audio system that sound completely different when I plug in at different places.
One thing I have found helps my tone cut through at a venue if needed is to tweak global eq. Some of my go to's are high pass at 50ish hz, low cut at 110ish with a wide 0.7Q of a few dB, then to help cut a mid 1.4k 1.4Q 1.4db boost if needed - I tweak this one most
I would love to see a pedalboard build around the HX Stomp XL. Curious what you would do differently with the additional switches. Would you still use a MIDI switcher?
Good call on the power supply switch. I ended up getting rid of my voodoo labs for the TrueTone CS6 because of the way the TrueTone handles anything and everything you throw at it with zero problems. I found the Voodoo Lab wouldn't give the power needed for everything even though it said it would. I didn't want it to ruin my HX Stomp
I just got the Hx Stomp xl version, I am definitely keeping my Ventris for the extra reverbs and processing power. I also think I am going to get a compressor, that way I can just go straight in and save a loop.
I also bought a Stomp XL recently. You might enjoy having your favorite overdrive/distortion pedals inline before the input to the Stomp XL, which might sound better and definitely saves some CPU.
I have a question. I am a jazz guitarist, I have a Fender Deluxe Reverb, a reverb pedal and a tube screamer. My question is: Will a HX stomp up my sound if combined with my current amp or should I go for individual pedals? I want a more "modern" sound as I'm planning to record a wee record in a couple months. The HX stomp sounds like a great idea but I'm not sure how it will sound when combined with my amp as it feels more like a computer friendly tool.
@HeyWorshipLeader, great video! I wish I had watched it earlier. Anyway, accidently I bought the Rockboard 3.0, too. So, I could really copy all the things you did ;-). BUt I didn`t do it, I had other pedals and so on... but one question I have: when you supply the hx stomp with power you use the current doubler, but it has a straight blue connector, that sticks out a lot and not an angled connector. So how did you do that? Another adapter? What adapter then? I used one adapter, but it failed delivering the right current....
Jimmy Love the vids but I would recommend getting rid of Final Cut and trying out black magic's davinci resolve, make vids for all different kind of work and fond it to be the best and the cheapest even if you already own Final Cut, I made the switch almost a year ago and haven't looked back. Would also love to see a vid on how you shoot and edit your vids, I think that would be cool.
I got the hx stomp & tonex pedals but also want to use board for looping rig also with the aeros loopstudio and midi maestro & beatbuddy a boss ve 500 and a dual auxiliary foot switch maybe a dirt pedal, I know its getting complicated now I dont wanna building two different boards because I'm tryin to simplify my set up, and I need to use the hx & tonex for both boards but dont wanna hual around a huge ass board or have to reconfigure my board every time I wanna play guitar or do a solo looping proformance or buy another hx stomp and tonex one, I have a helix rack but its in my studio rack and it would be more stuff to haul or buy. Any suggestions would be great in sorting out and putting something together and would be very much appreciated😊 thanks for your video's its great advice and help.
I actually find dual lock is much easier to move a pedal off a board because you just need a plastic pry bar and can pop the pedal off real easy since you don't have to keep pulling at the velcro.
I often dream of owning actual pedals and iconic amps but have, at 52, come to the realization that it's never going to happen. Tube amps here in India cost almost like half your annual income!! More, with shipping. Thus, I've reverted to modeler. The Nux mg400 to be precise. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to talk about it here so I'll make it short. I'm quite satisfied with it in the 4 short days it's been with me. You guys are the most fortunate to be putting together real pedals with real amps of iconic standings.
I’m 55 and been playing guitar for 30 yrs. Always had 3-4 pedals. Now building my first board with 10 pedals and CIOKS power. Some great boutique fuzz pedals on there. Never too late. Do it!! 🎸🙏🏻📺🎸🇬🇧
I have the same issue with my vexpress from sonycake, when I go from heel to toe, my volume goes 0-100% and then back to 0 again. It is so frustrating, I don’t know what to do.
6:50 What brand cable is this that you were using for that pedalboard. And was it any good to use that type of cable rather than go through a d.i. box?
Oh man. Sorry to hear. Are you going to be putting a new board together? If you’re actually interested, here’s the link: www.heyworshipleader.com/pedalboard-build-page
Was hoping for much more detail as to how you routed everything and midi set up. I have a Stomp as part of a big Pedalboard with a Boss ES-8 switcher and still working out routing, midi, and pedal order (yes ES-8 can switch pedal order but i have more than 8 pedals).
I have no idea ho to wire my own pedalboard around my HX Stomp. I have tuner, HX Stomp, compressor, (soon to get a volume pedal), and potentially another drive pedal. I also didn't know that cable wiring around a volume pedal was so confusing. I thought it was: guitar-volume pedal-compressor-HX Stomp-to house system but it's something like guitar-HX Stomp-compressor-volume pedal Resulting in a fine mess of cables and wires.....
Thank for this - it was super helpful. On your personal board at around 3:45 - what is the midi box 4 doing? I didn't see it in the new build. I'm getting a revelation and looking to integrate it with the HXC stomp and the MCX. Just seeing if I need that too.
That is the Midi hub basically. Since some of the midi pedals are "dead ends" (no midi in and out) I needed some place to go in and send a bunch out...JET Pedals has a new one called Traffic Control. If you grab it, use my link and code to save 10% LINK: jetpedals.com/?ref=19 CODE: HEYWORSHIPLEADER
Great Video really insightful and informative, very interesting to see how you use the HX Stomp, one question why did you leave the HX output to instrument out ? I thought the pedal board was being used a a direct out to the Board ? should it be set to line output ? thanks 🙏
Line output on the HX Stomp is like turning on the Guitar Pad in the HELIX. Sends out less. If I find myself super hot at the board I'll set to line. Not bad to just start there for sure! Good call
I just tried to order them on Amazon again and they said available mid May!! So I went and ordered directly off the website and then they refunded my order without explanation. Idk what’s going on
Hello, amazing build! Definitely feeling encouraged to not give up on pedalboards. Do you offer builds like this as a service? Or was this a one time thing?
I use a stomp box setup at my church and through an amp. Thinking of getting a stomp to lighten my board but i have some favorite pedals, any recommendations ? Do or donts
The HX Stomp is the way too go for sure. Even with other pedals. And if you want to play through your amp every once in a while (like I thought I would, but I never do), you’ll still have access to a bunch of a fx you may never had before, which was the case in my experience
Cool video, I like the base, especially the patchbay attachment. I'm wondering why all the external pedals are needed if you're using a powerhouse multi-effects unit like the HX Stomp..??
My 3 guitars that have EMG pickups useing the solderless system and I've never had an issue. People on forums claim they fail. 🤷🏻 I can solder pretty well. I took 2 yrs of electroncs in high school and have a semi fancy setup for soldering.
I bought one of those. I did everything I could to get it to sound good for two weeks and ended up sending it back. once you’ve had a good amplifier its hard to use anything else.
The Stomp is amazing. I have an XL, actually, which I like because you don’t have to add foot-switches to it and it can be used alone if need to., which reduces form factor if need be. Truth be told though, when you add up the cost of all the pedals to add on to a stomp, including the board and power supply, etc., it becomes more expensive than a full Helix floor. I have that as well, and it’s bananas awesome.
@@HeyWorshipLeaderIf you only want to use the dunlope for volume and leave the fs4/5 jack for Dual swiches. Can you connect it thru the in/R on the stomp?
Oh and on the dual lock, I use the 3M Scotch heavy duty fasteners...one strip on top and bottom (leaving any labels untouched on the bottom of the mini pedals) and it doesn't go anywhere. It even holds my power supply under my temple board and hasn't failed yet. :)
Check out the EXPANSE Pack, ESSENTIALS Pack, and Tone Match Presets here: www.heyworshipleader.com/tone-match-or-expanse
If I buy the expanse pack, which preset is the one you used at church near the end of the video? And, is it the same one that you used at 23:52?
Yes it’s awesome! Than you brother!
Nice sounds, 🙏🏼🙌🏼🥰🤗🎸

Hey bro, where can I find one of those right angle, swivel midi cables? I have searched high, and low with no success.
Was that a square reverend case behind you when you were doing the sound test? I thought all their cases were the coffin style.
