Blacklist is a very successful middle ground between the slower pace of the older games and the faster panther style of Conviction. It's certainly no Chaos Theory and Ironside's absence is distracting, but it's absolutely fun and worth playing. A rock solid "final" entry until Ubisoft gets off their ass
The stealth, the shooting, the mission selection, the upgrade system, the villain, this game had a lot going for it... Mistakes were made. Still, top 10 SC game!
always remember that ironside is only the english voice of sam... the rest of the world got sams original voice with blacklist

And to be fair, Ironside was only absent from Blacklist because, from what I remember, he was diagnosed with cancer around that time. So I don't think it was a matter of Ubisoft not wanting to bring him back to voice Sam.
Luckily, he's still with us, and I hope he gets another chance to voice him at some point. The man has helped bring life to an iconic video game character, and it would be a shame if he doesn't get one more chance at the role.

I still remember walking into my local EB Games in Year 8 and buying this awesome game for the 360. I'm now 25 and a teacher. I still think about the franchise and what Ubi has been sleeping on these last 11 years.

Blacklist is my favorite SC game I have played… even though it’s the only SC I have played, but still loved it. I pop it on a play through every now and then, like the story mode of GTAV

How did you feel it stacks up to Chaos Theory? It’s the consensus best SC game, with Blacklist modernising gameplay to make it much faster-paced and improvised than deliberate and planned. Plus they got rid of Ironside as Sam’s voice 😢
I really liked conviction maybe it just because of the sonar goggles instead of normal night vision but I missed out on a majority of the games so I don’t what others had the sonar so I could’ve liked them more but just didn’t get the opportunity as a kid

If I may ask will it have some type of co-op mode? If so I'll be very happy with that. I miss that type of thing when it comes to current games. The most fun I ever had was playing splinter cell co-op campaign. with me and my older brother and cousins.

It will always been hilarious when people don't grasp how reality and sales work.....See to make something that costs money, they expect to actually make money back on said item. They wanted Blacklist to sell around 5 million copies and it barely sold 2 million. Common sense and Business 101 you do not continue making a product that does not make its ROI, they only people who would continue making something that doesn't sell are imbeciles

@@lutherheggs451 Well the thing is, in games, movies and shows usually your ROI depends on the quality of the product. It's not the only part of the equation, and sometimes you just get real lucky/unlucky, but if Ubisoft started caring about their consumers, they might get even bigger sales than they already do

Blacklist was my childhood the multiplayer was some of the greatest fun you could have.
Chaos Theory holds a special place in my heart for a lot of reasons but Blacklist was an extremely underrated game and was easily the best playing game of the series. Co-op was also an absolute blast.

it wasnt that blacklist was a bad game, it's that it strayed a bit from splinter cell, and the fact they turned Sam Fisher into a 35 year old guy when he's supposed to be in his upper 50's and changed his voice actor so same fisher wasn't really sam fisher.
they didn't turn him into a 35 year old because a 74 year old didn't do the voice. It was a direct sequel to Conviction. The voice actor also did the motion capture. Something the 74 year old in poor health wouldn't have been able to do
Unfortunately Michael Ironside had cancer at the time so he wasn't able to do the voice for sam in this game. Thankfully he recovered

Having the voice actor do the mocap really didn't add anything to the game so they really should have either waited for Ironside or just made it a new character.

I loved playing the coop mode with friends. It was always chaotic and fun
I remember the only thing stopping me from playing blacklisted was the change of voice actor.
I remember someone putting it as “Sam somehow now sounds younger than his daughter.”
That and also because simply because Ironside literally wrote the character.
No I’m not making that up, Micheal Ironside along side with Ubisoft writers literally wrote the character we love today because otherwise he’d had said no to the roll. And that’s too awesome of trivia to lose.
Those things make it hard for me anything less than the death of Michael Ironside accept a new voice, which is weird because I’m normally okay as long as it fits enough, but here was an acceptation

@@PantherCat64 haha no worries. I'm so glad they brought back Ironside for that side mission in Wildlands. I remember interviews with him talking about how he wanted to change the approach for the character and ended up just helping them get the character going, so damn awesome and one of the best calm/intimidating voices out there. But damn does it suck to be a Splinter Cell fan these days. Guess I gotta give chaos theory and double agent a re-play haha

They finally got the formula just right, you can stealth it or if you screw that up, guns blaze. The action felt great. I picked it up used in like 2016, it sat for over a year before I played. Amazing. The gameplay, the music! Super underrated game.
This was the game that got me into Splinter Cell, and I still love it to this day

The Suvival missions we're the go i forgot what they were called but waves kept coming it was a blast back in the day might pick blackcell up again to relive those missions.

Chaos Theory was the high water mark if you prefer your stealth tense and methodical rather than fast and predatorial

You have to change it to offline mode in the launch options, fixes a good amount of issues like crashes.
To me it’s literally my favorite and best action stealth game i’ve ever played. Of course it went with a different style of gameplay and nothing tops chaos theory but this was a hell of a game
Was just remembering the last time I tried to play this a few years ago and it just had issues running (much like prototype 2 only running if you have at most 4 cores active) so i had to give up on playing it. So glad to have a kevduit video to atleast relive it partly

One thing I don't forgive blacklist for was changing VAs because of Michael Ironside was sick...
I mean it's not bad. But compared to pre-Conviction it's not about stealth, but instead it's about John Wick going simplified stealth.

I'm playing through the series again and I've never played blacklist. I'm actually playing every old Tom Clancy game I can on the series X. Blacklist and some of the ghost recon games I never got to went on sale literally yesterday. Now is my time lol.

The only complaint I had was Michael ironside not being used as Sam fisher. They could have just introduced a new agent as opposed to completely changing Sam’s voice. The story was fantastic and Carlo rota was amazing. Favorite villain in the whole series for me

Definitely felt the most mall ninja-friendly, though the linearity of the maps, the redundancy of the goggles, and the overall lack of wit or humor didn't help it much. What Ubisoft needed and still needs is a Chaos Theory 2.

Only issue I ever had with this was Ironside not returning to voice Sam Fisher. Other than that, still one of my personal favorite games. Probably one of my most replayed, too, along the likes of Max Payne (all three of 'em), The Punisher, etc. A lot of AAA games these days focus so much on bloat that they forget to add basic features like replaying missions, which is why I still often return to older games instead of replaying newer ones.
Blacklist is fucking fire. The hate is undeserved.

Dude I remember playing the fuck out of this game along with my uncle before he passed.
He introduced me to this series with this game and it was seriously fun, I loved all of it, despite that I'm sure other people hate it because it's less like the other earlier games. Personally though I had so much fun playing all of it and unlocking all the cool powerful weapons and then playing that wave survival mode after the campaign.
Would love to go back and play it again, especially with a friend, I also very lightly remembered a spy vs terrorist mode which looked cool but I never played it so idk what it was like.
Seeing as I'm writing this before watching the video fully, if you don't play all of it in this one PLEASE play more of it, I'd love to see you not only beat it but then also look at some of the extra stuff as well!

Honestly,imo convinction story wise was much better but i will have to say this game had variety approaches to combat which made it way more indepth but overall both games were fun as hell to complete. The only thing that sucked was that they didn't bring back ironside for the voice acting

Yeah I love Blacklist, people always said it was ass but it's great. I dunno why but my blacklist bugged out and I can't move my mouse anymore but Imo it's still the best Splinter Cell.

I think that if you download Blacklist from Ocean of Games or from Zona, i don't remember, the game would have barely any glitches: floating weapons sometimes, nothing else

LOL I am so happy to be able to say "I TOLD YOU SO" to everyone only discovering Blacklist now. I'm glad there haven't been any new Splinter Cell games since Blacklist... modern gamers don't deserve a new Splinter Cell. Blacklist was a great send off for Sam Fisher. If Ubisoft makes that reboot, it'll likely be ruined by woke politics and cookie cutter mechanics. Modern Ubisoft BLOWS. Let the sting of regret hurt everyone that chose to hate on Blacklist when it came out. Yall got what you deserve.

An incredible coop experience that we still go back to today, funny how its a double disc on 360 but still looks awesome somehow. silky smooth gameplay. also pc gaming is totally cursed.

I finished playing it last week. I loved it. I just recently got into the franchise. Conviction is my favorite one. But Blacklist is a close number two. I don't understand why those two got hate. I know they were different than Chaos Theory, but they were so good!
