- This video will take you to Playa Del Carmen Beach in Mexico and provide information and an update on the seaweed situation. This video was shot in the middle of the afternoon after they had been cleaning up the seaweed for hours. They have announced the official beginning of seaweed season. The government has now put in place a plan to minimize the affects of seaweed on tourism. The plan includes 8600 meters of barrier out at sea held by anchors on the sea bottom, different boats that pick the seaweed up out at sea before it gets to shore and a number of machines and workers on the beach. The amount of seaweed is multiplying and this appears to be the new normal.
Playa del Carmen is a coastal resort town in Mexico, along the Yucatán Peninsula's Riviera Maya strip of Caribbean shoreline. In the state of Quintana Roo, it’s known for its palm-lined beaches and coral reefs.
