Same….I went to Playa and Tulum for the first time in 1998. The places were amazing. Especially Tulum. Only real tourists you came across were Mexican or Euro’s. Now they are just a punch line for people posting on their social that “they discovered” this amazing place. 🤣😂

Well it's only an hour drive in between each. I live in Playa Del Carmen for this case and I find my money goes further here. I have a cost of living coming up as well.
With the prices they mentioned it's actually comparable to the nicest areas in Thailand especially when you calculate no longer needing visa fees. If the channel is interested I'd love to compare and contrast, I lived in Thailand for 3 years in different areas.
I agree with all of that. The only challenge is the time difference. If you have US based clients you have to interact with in the USA daytime. I experienced that first hand. 3 and 4 am Zoom Meetings are not fun.
As a Montrealar I dream of living in the south but unfortunately my job requires me to be physically here.. if i was working in something that I could do remotely, I would've been there 10 years ago.
A and if I run my air it cost me $300 or more a month I live in playa. Water cost me $50 a month. Rent for a house that is in need of renovations cost me $700 a month so if your on a fixed income of $2,000 a month is almost imposible especially if you have kids. Its very expensive to live in playa. Food andas is very high. Gas is over $5,00 a gallon. So it is very expensive. Jobs only pay $20 for a 12 hour day. So you have to be honest. Wages aredangerously low. Lower Then poverty le el
To be real and honest a $2000 fixed income with kids is low anywhere. If in the US or Canada that may not even cover rent. Yes if you plan on moving to Playa Del Carmen, Playa is one of the more expensive places in Mexico. With modern amenities etc. If your on a $2000 fixed income we would suggest you look at more of the surrounding areas that may not have the city prices. Also most aren't looking to relocate to Mexico to work in Mexico, because you will get a Mexico wage.

What about sargassum seaweed problem? Can you actually swim and even walk on the beach?
There isn't sargassum right now. There was a couple months ago, but nothing right now. It comes and goes.
The locals harvest the seaweed and use it as a fertilizer.

Playa better for scuba, especially because of proximity to Cozumel.
What do you do for living? Is wifi very reliable?
I work online full time and wifi has been reliable. Except when the power goes out. Which could be once every few months.
You guys should try Thailand or Vietnam, much cheaper, much better food and no issues with safety unlike in Mexico.
