Its very expensive to live in playa. Food andas is very high. Gas is over $5,00 a gallon. So it is very expensive. Jobs only pay $20 for a 12 hour day. So you have to be honest. Wages aredangerously low. Lower Then poverty le el
To be real and honest a $2000 fixed income with kids is low anywhere. If in the US or Canada that may not even cover rent. Yes if you plan on moving to Playa Del Carmen, Playa is one of the more expensive places in Mexico. With modern amenities etc. If your on a $2000 fixed income we would suggest you look at more of the surrounding areas that may not have the city prices. Also most aren't looking to relocate to Mexico to work in Mexico, because you will get a Mexico wage.

I remember being in Tulum in 2011 when it was for backpackers and hippies.. now its super expensive, hipsters and yuppies.
Yeah things change over the years, You can still find your backpackers and hippies
You guys should try Thailand or Vietnam, much cheaper, much better food and no issues with safety unlike in Mexico.
