Very glad you are keeping people away from CR. Please, by all means, go to Panama to live! It's actually safer, cleaner, with less crime and much more ecologically concerned. Panama water is absolutely polluted with raw sewage. Enjoy! Pura Vida!

Hi. Very useful but you seem to be comparing Tamarindo, a smallish beach community to a major city. I am sure that Panama City is more up to date and convenient than San Jose but what about if you are living out in the countryside or a beach town in Panama? Do you feel that the power grid, roads, prices etc are as good in the countryside as the city? Sad about the litter and lack of environmental awareness. Same here in Cleveland.

Dude, you are comparing Panama City to Tamarindo? For an apples to apples comparison you should compare against San Jose although, Panama would still beat Costa Rica in banking and car prices.

I got robbed gunpoint broad daylight in poblado. No one helped. Medellin is dangerous and don't depend on any good samaritans. Theft, dishonesty in women, is just a part of the culture. Be careful.

Although I agree on certain things, like the banking issues, the problem is that you are comparing a small city in Costa Rica, to the capital of Panama. It is not a fair comparison. For instance, the infrastructure of the internet or electric grid is not the same in San Jose or Escazu compared to Tamarindo, a costal small town for tourism.

So True, been there myself, Costa Rica is too expensive and they love to take advantage of Gringos but I don't blame them, a tourist are like a feeding feeding a starving lion, they stay at it until you are broke or close to it. Know what you are doing and look for the scams, they are everywhere .

Costa Rica is more stable and has better education.

1. It's not fair to compare Tamarindo to Panama City. (One is a surf village, another is a major metro hub) 2. Most of your money/car/housing problems could be solved. For example, 10 min ago, I withdrew $1k USD cash at Tama's Automercado and paid $3 in fees for it. Did it for years - not a single time had a problem. But, I do agree about food (variety and taste!), housing costs, infastructure (though, it has improved in Tama dramatically) and business culture: Panama wins - no contest!

Stopped listening halfway through. I heard enough. Costa Rica is horrible. Worse than worthless.

I have only vacationed in Panama but it's hard for me to imagine why anyone would choose Panama City. It's pretty dilapidated in a lot of spots, it's got the heat and the humidity (which Panama has in general but it's far from the best area for that), and it's the only place in the country where the people weren't friendly. I get that it's convenient but it just has none of what makes Panama appealing to me.

Tamarindo is a rural town cant compare to an urba city in costarica or urban panama

Great video. About transportantion from Airport, the most horrific story would be the price. It's very rare to have any other security situation in general in Panama. Beside Uber or Taxi, you can also take the Metro, which is really cheap, 0.85 cents from Tocumen Airport to 5 de Mayo station, located a few blocks away from Old town. The ride takes around 50 min to 1 hour.
