In terms of the Mini Drak, you can turn it into a loafer with extended wings and a tail boom. I'm a couple of weeks away from having one in the air. With a 5200 mah 4S, she'll stay in the air for an hour plus, so I'm told. Great FPV cruiser.

Great job comparing and contrasting these three nice models! Cost is probably worth a mention though - although I appreciate the Mini Drak is good quality foam etc. it's pretty expensive for an airframe-only kit. Prices for the others change all the time with offers/coupons/etc. but currently the PNP Aggressor is the cheapest, then the Mini Drak (with no motor/prop/esc/servos of course.), then the PNP Dart XL?

Andrew, Great comparison of all Planes in this video...! I still can't get over the speeds that you fly at, How smooth they seem to fly through the Air even with winds pushing against the craft. I didn't know that Styrofoam could be so rigid and not break apart under pressure's...! I am a Quadcopter/Multirotor pilot but I still enjoy watching your skills, abilities, crafting out these kits, the builds and then the flying.... it's all Awesome..! Here in the USA, the RC Hobby back years ago was quite expensive. My first plane was like a Cessna something or other, gas engine, fuel etc., but it 2 strings that I think that made it go up or down, but the pilot had to spin around in a circle.... not RC controlled..! Born in 1949, I think I was 10 or 12 when I got it..? The other day I caught a video on YT, JohnnyQ90, he bought a 1/4 Scale 2 cycle Nitro Engine for RC. This little thing fit in the palm of his hand, tiny..! Later he got a 4 cycle one, but it was a V-4, air or water cooled. He did a Video on the Air cooled, then said he wanted to try the water cooled, but he said he'd have to build a radiator and a water pump..! In his little machine shop, raw stock, looked like brass or copper..? He built the radiator, the water pump and later on an Exhaust system... These little Engines actually RUN on Nitro 10% to 20%, he used Glow-plugs to get it running and holy Cow it was amazing...! Later I watched another Video on 1/4 Scale Dragsters racing on a strip with the Christmas Tree lights, staging and doing burn outs...! I had no idea things had come that far along in the RC world...! Check out JohnnyQ90 if ya want and check out the tiny working Motors/Engines...! =)

The Mini Drak is definitely in a class of it's own. It is extremely strong as I have tried many times to prove it's durability. The speed takes some getting used to. That being said, with a good setup, and dependable FPV signal, the Mini Drak may not be the most efficient range wise, but it is a thrill to fly.

I'd love a mini drak for shorter fast FPV blasts but if I was looking for a longer range platform I think the Aggressor not only flys great but also looks fantastic in the air too.
Not so much a fan of the Dart XL due to its barn door nose and multitude of winglets, turbulators etc... which I find really ugly. I much prefer a sleek, smooth airframe. Each to their own though.

I think talking about efficiency, the mini drak is probably the most efficient when speaking in wh/km! comparing the consumption from those 3 flights, you can fly them all around 6-7 amps on around 50kph. Just the mini Drak was consuming less and its throttle was low in the 15-20%. seems the mini Drak has a very wide band of flying speed with very low stall speed as well ...

Maybe the Aggressor can be slower but with only 1100kv and a 10x5 prop you won't get much speed from it.
Prop will be limited at around 110km/h
With 1250kv and 9x6 prop it will be around 145km/h
    Already a big change.
You fly the other with 2000kv 7x5.
    It will be around 190km/h
    (kv*0.8) *16v with 5 or 6" pitch calculated back to km/h
So there isn't a big difference between them.
Just bought one second hand almost new. Original setup.

Can you remember where the CoG is on the Aggressor?
Don't have a manual, can't find one and the only hint on rcgroups doesn't seem right to me.
(just after the black leadingedge stripe at the servo protection hubs)
When I do that I have even a 4s5000 almost past the rear velcro slot. And when having it on the launch grips it wants to tilt quite much to the front.

Hi Andrew great info on the models thanks. I have the Agressor and it's a beautiful smooth wing to fly but I'm not sure why mine draws so many more amps than yours, using the standard prop too. On 50% throttle it sits around 12-15 amps and barely goes under 10 cruising around. On launch it goes to about 58 at 1900 throttle on auto launch. Also I had a bad accident launching normally and had 4 stitches in my finger so I try throw it sideways from just inside the wing which went well a few times but yesterday changed to a 9.5 x 6 folding propeller and failed twice and snapped a wing off.. 🙄😢 May try the autolaunch with a delay next and 3d print a better grip for the bottom too 👍 thanks for any feedback and keep up the good work

Sorry to butt my big nose in, but think I can help out. Typically, I fly FPV quads, but dabble in planes more and more recently. I love seaplanes, and here in E. Florida, they let you fly anywhere.
The UMX planes on floats aren't great, too light to handle any chop. The Tundra is good, as are the Timber and Apprentice (both of which have SAFE self leveling, es muy bueno). But thats all expensive.
For $100, the Joysway Dragonfly is absolutely... amazing. Formerly sold as the Hobbyking Skipper, it's an all-terrain situation, so grass, snow, and water takeoff and landings. It uses cheap 1500-2200 3s lipos, and flies great without a stabilizer.

I have a question for you Sir Andrew, but it's a lengthy question for a quite likely short answer....
The whole reason (well, excuse) for me getting interested in the hobby is/was that I wanted to scan terrain for use in 3D modelling car racing sims...
Until recently it looked like I was going to need to spend thousands of dollars on software to do this, once having captured the photos....
Recently I found that the name of what I wanted to do is called Photogrametry & that there is fee software out there thanks to a trio of clips from Un burro Volando FPV...
So, my question is, what would be the most suitable plane, in your opinion, for a job like this, that can be set up on the 'cheap', please?
(Well, cheaper than a ready-to-fly commercial unit!)
Also, what camera would you suggest would be best?
I had though one of the RunCam Splits- possibly either of the 4K options....
I already have a 'spare' Sky Hawk with a single pusher which should have enough internel room for a flight controller & a belly camera, but Im wondering what other options that might be more suitable that Im probably missing due to lack of knowledge gained so far in the hobby...
Attached are the links to videos on the subject but you will need to enable closed captions as it might as well be in Espenola for all I can understand of it 3:) ;)

      @bleeksbentbits3150 4 года назад

@@AndrewNewton From what I understand the software can correct the fish-eye, & indecently 'Superview', to some extent, but it is preferable to have less-than 'action cam' field of view or more like a traditional field of view such as 55mm down to 29mm in the 35mm sizing (not sure what that is in modern digital....
      I MISS FIL:M! :v )
I have here a Sony 'Cybershot 14.7Mp 26mm 2,7-5,7/4,7-18,8' (f-stop Im guessing) that could be used, although Im reluctant to pull it apart & re-solder the switch like old mate does in his clip I shared above...
Would also me nice to make it a permanent fitting inside plane rather than having to pull it out all the time... ;)

Thanks Sam. Having worked in hospitals for almost 40 years I know they work. I even wear a mask when I jog at the moment. It's all about doing my small bit to hasten the end of this pandemic.

My only criticism is the picture quality of all your drones not the drones them self's.

No, I generally leave that up to the viewer. Prices differ depending on where you are.

The Drac is for the whiny prop fanboys with deep pockets...Personally, I think the Aggressor has the best all round flight characteristics. This was best demonstrated when you initially flew it LOS.

      It's a unique wing, quite a surprise.
