You can get a full size GoPro and fpv cam in the nose and the batery bay is large. The rear electroncs bay also has plenty of space so everything is accesible and convenient. The nose can be delicate and Imhave reinfoced mine with carbon rods and the elevons are a bit flimssy and Imintend to replace them with balsa when I get around to it. With regards to the size of the prop, and not wanting to use a folding one, as i cant find any here in the U.K. How have you been landing so the prop or mounts are not getting damaged? is there a way of setting some kind of brake for the motor, that stops the prop at a Quarter to Three position, as apposed to Six o'clock? where the prop strikes the ground?. Cheers.

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 года назад

      Hi, you can set the esc brake function which will stop the motor when you go to min throttle and generally the prop will rotate when you land unless it is vertical and then there is the chnace of breakage. I have broken a few when landing on hard ground and came in fast but never damaged the mount with the props I use as they are stiff but quite brittle. There is no way to make the brake stop in the horizontal position unfortunately. I prefer non folding props and happy to have a few break as folding props are harder to balance imo. @@badgerrc160 Hi Glad you have enjoyed the channel. The parameter in inav OSD is called Plus Code (latitude + longitude).
      It uses less space than separate latitude and longitude and you can type it directly into Google maps if you need to find a lost plane.

      On my last long range flight I was getting around 90 mA/Km at 72 kmh at 35% cruise throttle pulling about 6.5 amps.
      Going to try dropping the throttle to 30% for my next long range flight.

    What is more efficient? This or a twin like Albabird?

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 года назад

      Hi there efficiency is not really governed by the style of plane, although aerodynamics obviously plays it part when we consider drag and extra power to fly a brick compared to streamlined craft. Weight of craft, size of motor, cruise speed and prop size all play a part in efficiency levels. I hope that helps.

    DJI goggles have a range of 6km... 10km with directional antennas, shouldn't you be able to push it out towards 10,000 meters or 30,000 ft?
    What's limiting you? Analog feed? Courage? lol.
    I switched my video quality to HD 1080p just for the fly by at the end

    Use 1.2g video, then you won't need an expensive tracker....200mw vtx is about £15.
    More than enough for this distance and will work alongside 868mhz control... Video relay to your goggles, job done. 5.8g is not long range video.

    • @bluefish3607
      @bluefish3607  3 года назад +2

      That is something I ight try in future if I want to go really long range but 5.8 is serving me well up to 25km out which is about as far as I want to go.
      I got the tracker so I can fly 360 degrees around my launch position and not have to keep adjusting my antenna manually which was a pain, especially when flying fast planes like my 6S Mini Drak which is almost built.
      I also wanted to put it together just for the hell and fun of it and learn something new and challenge myself, nothing much else to do in lockdown :-)
      But 1.2g is a good shout and I look forward to that challenge as well, thanks for reminding me, you have sown a seed!

      @@bluefish3607 Good, I use an 8dbi channel tuned Patch which has about 160 degree beam to fly in..So no need for a tracker.. Add in a second vrx and Dipole with diversity switcher, for additional local flying.
      Big difference using 1.2g is altitude, I can be 6kms at 100 metres and the image looks like it did when I took off..Not possible on 5.8g, especially with trees or hedges in the mix...Getting into 1.2 is easier than you think, just use a video relay, a common mistake made by many is not to do so....

Pepper box for when I’m really pushing it.
