I didn’t know a single THING about JJ until a few days ago. I grew up as an ‘80’s thrash diehard and looked at “nu metal” as “not good enough”. It is very clear I didn’t give SK a close enough look. I lumped in SK with bands like Static-X, Coal Chamber, MManson etc. The only ‘90’s metal bands I was diwn with were Fear Factory, Sepultura (both of which are really late 80’s), Dimmu Borgir, Machine Head, Meshuggah, bands that had extreme technical chops (in my narrow-minded opinion at the time). Boy was I wrong about SK, though. As for Mr. Jordison, rest his soul, what an incredibly fan-friendly scholar and gentleman he was. I’ve done a deep-dive on him and am amazed at how humble, genuine, and authentically caring he was to his fans. He was truly a sweet gentleman and I am so sad for his family, friends, and LEGION of fans.

This closed that gap between sub-genres in metal and in my opinion, opened up many doors and pathways for other bands to follow.
