Meahuggah really blew my mind when I first heard them. I couldn’t get over how how Tomas could play all those crazy polyrhythms and still be so groovy and smooth. It’s really kind of obzen.
I feel this way about Gavin Harrison. Even though I'm a guitar player, his drumming completely changed the way I see music and how a complex song can be constructed. You can be both incredibly skilled while still playing to the level of the song and always keeping the pocket groove perfect.
Gavin is in my all time favorites TOP 5. definitely. however, he is not so influential to other drummers. He is quite well readable, he doesnt have that kind of mystery in his plays, which makes you study it more time and more deeply, and even after long time you still dont get it. There are other drummers who got this. Also i think, you can play Gavin style quite easily, because he has got a few signature lines and he got using them so much.

I love Death's Symbolic album for sure and Gene is one of my all time faves. But i love the album Human and Sean Rienert's drumming even more. There's something in it that I can't explain.
Since you mentioned a death album I must to add that thier album individual thought pattern to the list. This album is incredibly underrated espacially when it comes to drumming. There are a lot of really mind- blowing stuff going on in this album. The problem is that the songs are not recorded very well, so the drums kinda dissappear in the mix thus it's easy to miss the really- tasty stuff. I really recommend to listen closely to the drums over there, it's a really fascinating experience.
Justice absolutely broke my brain. I heard it in its entirety on the day it was released -- the local college station had an on-air listening party and I tuned in. Knocked me flat. Didn't know that music could sound like that.
You're a legend for mentioning Perennial Quest . Symbolic is the greatest metal album of all time, and that riff you highlighted might be one on the greatest pieces of music ever written! Cheers
Totally unexpected to see Angra's Temple of Shadows here on this list. Congrats Samus, we from Brazil are honored to see someone like you loving soo much a album for our country 🇧🇷😎🤘
Death was a big influence on me growing up drumming. Especially "Flattening Of Emotions" from Their album Human. The drum intro alone still to this day gets me going.
Something I love so much about music is that beyond just listening and enjoying it for what it is, you can go down the rabbit hole years later and explain your personal connections to certain albums, compare notes with friends, and relive all those times in your life where each song/album/band became attached to your conscience. Awesome video dude!
So talking about coming late to the party I've been subscribed to this guy for years and only just now found out that he was and according to Wikipedia still is the drummer for decrepit birth wow maybe what my mother said is true I just don't know how to pay attention very good
I hope you do more of these types of videos. This is my fav upload of yours and I’ve probably watched it like 5 times already over the last year. It’s awesome hearing about your influences and your stories from the past - you should make a series out of it. 🤘🏻
I think my first reaction to Slipknot was quite the same to yours... I was blown away by everything. Corey's voice, the drumming, the riffs... And "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" is one of my all time favourite albums.
I've listened to a lot of metal and rock during my time in high school. Along the way, I discovered something new. For me, Primus is one of those bands that really made me do a double take during my days in high school. Keeping up with Les Claypool's quirky bass playing is quite a feat.
Many of the albums in the video impressed me when i first listened to them. Epitaph has impressed me again watching this video and ive played it a thousand times.
Your influences and order of finding these albums/bands directly mirrors mine in a lot of ways. It’s really a great trip down memory lane. Awesome video.
Yeah Gene is absolutely the MAN!!! Alien by Strapping Young Lad was one of those albums for me & it was Gene's drumming for them that first drew me to them. I also love that he said he purposely changes his style depending on who he's playing with so Death Hoglan doesn't sound like SYL Hoglan or Testament Hoglan, that shows true artistry to me. 🤘🔥
Very good list, a lot of those albums are ones I'd pick for drumming too. But I personally think Death's 'The Sound of Perseverance' is really overlooked. The drumming on that album is fuckin insane. The stuff that Richard Christy did was just mind blowing. So jazzy and intricate.
Metallica is my favorite metal band of all time and Justice is my favorite album of all time. They were my gateway to metal and I’ve never looked back! 🤘🏻
For me in the beginning it was the Slipknot self titled album.. there’s something about joeys drumming on that album that when you hear it for the first time.. it blows you away! Some of his fills and double bass work was just mesmerising .
I couldn’t agree more about the Dimmu album. I’ve been follow Nick since the early COF days. On that Dimmu album he hits the musically G spot. I actually told Nick that when I met him at Tattoo The Planet in 01 haha Keep up the great work man. My favourite drumming albums, in no particular order. Maiden-Seventh Son Opeth- Blackwater Park COF- Cruelty and the Beast Slayer- Reign in Blood GnR- Illusion 2 I could go on…
I met Nick once when he was a hired gun for a band that toured through our town and my friends opened for them. I told him he should release an instructional DVD about his creative process because of how blown away I was by his drumming in Dimmu. He didn't seem to keen and I was just a drunk twenty something rambling on so I wasn't particularly convincing when I said the world needed that I guess.
Good to see Hannes Grossmann mentioned... he seems to appear in a million different bands these days (Alkaloid and early Obscura being my favorites), but his playing is always nothing short of amazing, both technically and musically speaking... 👌
I can totaly releate to the Dimmu album.I had almost the same reaction back then; "Oh no? Synth shit again...." "Actually this is nicely composed and done" "Oh, that was a nice change. Quite epic intro" "HOLY SHIT! WTF just started?!"
I didn´t know the band Necrophagist before. "Stabwound" ripped my head off. Glued it back on and ripped it of again. thx for introducing me to them. Fuckin´great!!
i was about 12years old and away at a Christian Camp for Easter and one of the other kids had Reign in Blood on cassette tap and he lent me his walkman with it one night and i remember hearing the change part in Altar of Sacrifice "Enter to the realm of Satan" ! It literally made the hairs on my arms stand up with excitment ! i was utterly addicted to this album and that song along with it changing into Jesus Saves for years ... To this day now 45 i remember that momnet like it was yesterday ...
You're a great ambassador for metal, 66Samus. I walked away from metal 34 years ago, banking hard into punk (DK), and then industrial (Skinny Puppy, Leaether Strip, Klute) for decades. Your reasoning and enthusiasm is infectious- I might actually listen to something with live instruments again, someday.
There's definitely a few bands that I got into pretty damn late myself, especially Death, Children of Bodom, as well as Suicide Silence. But I was lucky enough to get into Slipknot's earlier works just before the infamous events happened from Paul Grey's untimely death, up to Joey's departure from the band later on as well. For me, it was kinda like hearing about the shit that Metallica had to put up with in their career, only it was Slipknot going through similar situations in a somewhat reversed order.
I loved that Temple of Shadows was one of the albums that changed your drumming. It changed mine too! Aquiles, even though not as fast as the other examples, has so many little tasty things going on!
I think the song the philosopher by death easily blew my mind and so did sepulturas song refuse resist both are just crazy tunes that made me love double bass patterns and drumming as a whole a lot more
I love this video so much! Our trajectories to new music were so similar. I’ll never forget being an impressionable 18 year old and buying Iowa hardly knowing anything about it, I’d heard of slipknot but not much, the album cover had a huge explicit content sticker on it, almost the same size as the cd case, walking back to my mates house, and in the first 30 seconds just having our minds blown. It forever changed my musical landscape. Joey, Travis and Gene were gods to me for years. I still go back to that era and listen to all those albums I was obsessed with, I don’t think I’ll ever stop, I love them as much today as I did then. I’ve played all different styles of music, but I’ll forever be a fan of heavy music!
It's funny, I followed Nick Barker from early Cradle of Filth, and had been listening to Dimmu since the mid-90s. By the time Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia came out I had considered Dimmu to be the "Black" metal supergroup. Guitar player from Old Man's Child, bassist and singer from Borkngar, drummer from Cradle of Filth, all bands I had been listening to in high school at that point. Even still, I had the same experience listening to those first 2 tracks for the first time. That album is also in my top 5. I was hoping it would be in yours considering you did a cover of it in one of your old videos. Always enjoy watching, Sam!
Samus - I’m new to your community. Love this Top 10 video, especially the joy you bring. I’m 58 and am just starting to learn about the “metal” world. Thanks for providing the “Cliff Notes” I needed to get started with the explanation. By the way, really enjoy your personal drumming especially your precision. -Bill G
I’d say my 10 would probably be… 1.) Nevermind by Nirvana 2.) One By One by Foo Fighters 3.) Paranoid by Black Sabbath 4.) Led Zeppelin 1 by Led Zepplin 5.) A Night At The Opera by Queen 6.) A Day At The Races by Queen 7.) Outlandos d’Amour by The Police 8.) Songs For The Deaf by QoTSA 9.) Toto 4 by Toto 10.) Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters This was a lot harder than I thought.
Dude I literally smiled when you mentioned Blink. I have been a defender of Travis Barker to all my snotty metal friends for years. 1 time I asked my drummer friend to try and play the bridge beat with the high hat and kick on First Date, and he actually couldn't do it without practicing it for a few minutes lmao. Interestingly enough the rest of band follows and changes their riffs based on the beats that Travis decides to play for them. Makes for very cool and original stuff 👍
Dude I'm a drummer too 39yrs old and our journey is very similar lol I started on black album too. And then all the bands you mentioned had the same influences on me I named my son after Nicholas barker because of that exact track u first heard so yeah awesome dude but I'd chuck in fear factory too they changed everything drums wise but yeah cheers dude stay metal 😘🤘🤘 also watched a drum clinic video with a heap of drummers on it that opened my mind af
On Symbolic, the man himself Gene Hoglan drew inspiration from Sean Reinart's legendary drumming on Human. I always loved Gene's drumming on the album, but that made me realise just how good Sean is, and his work with Cynic and other prog projects proves it. Really unique drummer, who captured the essense of prog drumming and carried it beyond.
some of my favorite drumming albums (metal) Sepultura - Arise; Slayer - God Hates us All; Slipknot - Iowa; Mayhem - Chimera; Deicide - Legion; Abhorrent - Intransigence; Morbid Angel; - Formulas fatal to the Flesh; Cryptopsy - Self titled; Ulcerate - Everything is Fire...and of course my favorite of them all..... Death - Human
thank god! For these types of videos , I just love hearing someone talk about favorite albums, it's always fun to hear what they recommend and get to know, often off the charts great, artists and albums yuo otherwise wouldn't listen to. Thx for giving me a whole day worth of metal albums 😀
Nice! Nick Barker is a legend, such a good drummer and so are you dude! Decrepit Birth is up there with the greats of Death Metal. Also funny that you brought up Dimmu Borgir, because some of their orchestral stuff ended up in the movie Stardust (and it's promo trailers) lol.
I try to enlighten more people about this less known mustis fun fact. Too bad what happened with them and vortex and mustis cause DB hasn't been the same since. 😔
Death makes me cry too, just Chuck's voice and guitar playing are so beautiful. Plus it makes me sad that he's gone and I'll never get to experience them live 😢
Felix Griffin on D.R.I.'s Four of a Kind made me know I wanted to be a drummer and not just play the drums. Chris Pennie on Miss Machine by Dillinger Escape Plan made me really start challenging myself.
Brian "Brylle" Rasmussen from Mnemic is such an underrated drummer. His fills live are just incredibly tight and strong. Really freaking technical too.
I'd say for me my favorite percussion albums would be Pantera - Far Beyond Driven Slipknot - Self Titled Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten Dying Fetus - Regin Supreme Rush - 2112 Death - Symbolic Korn - Life is Peachy
oh man its so much fun getting to hear about new/old bands and hear other ppls takes on them i fkn loved this vid and i added angra to my playlist thanks !
If you’re still in the mood to check out new music I highly recommend Dir En Grey, their discography is vastly diverse, they always do something different with each album and Along with Kyo’s amazing vocals and the great guitar work of Koaru and Die and toshiya’s bass and who can forget Shinya’s creative drum style. He could play any song straight forward but he always incorporates every piece of his kit into the music and it’s all inspiring to hear
That was awesome, Samus! Oh my god. Death - Symbolic was my first introduction to death metal and I was completely blown away by Gene's playing. Fucking amazing. Since then I have been looking for the next extreme drummer and my search has revealed some amazing drummers. I think one of my favorites would have to be Henker - Slave of My Art. Such an underrated band IMHO. Thanks for this video. Made my day \m/
For me I have three albums I always go back to for drums: Hold Your Horse Is by Hella, Hypermagic Mountain by Lightning Bolt and Bullhead by the Melvins. Zach, Chippendale and Dale are three of the greatest drummers alive man
Hell yea, love this! So much passion and conviction. Gawd I love music. I realized that I got check out Angra, those bits you played had some wildly spectacular drumming wow. Blast on Samus, you are legend my friend.
Death had tons of great musicians coming and going, two of which also had their own band Cynic. If you haven't heard that, pick up the OG debut Focus. Sean Reinert's drumming was technical, fast but tasteful. RIP Sean.
Yeah man, it always made me feel both sadness and elation at the same time. Definitely beautiful sounding way to wrap up an album. The only other instance where I've gotten a similar emotion is the song "the sinking belle/blue sheep" on the Boris/Sunn(((0 album "altar" check it out.
suffocations effigy of the forgotten.the drums on this album,KILLER AS FUCK!my absolut favourite metal drums of all time🤟🏼joey jordison mentioned mike smith as one of his greatest influences in interviews, his drumming was way ahed of the time in 1991.mike smith is a god!
This was like going back in time to my own musical journey through high school with my friends. Starting with lower softer rock finding Metallica’s black album, then harder stuff and being like wait what there’s more? And having a couple of friends that always seem to know the best bands and burn you cds. That was Brett and Ben for me. Awesome video man
Here in Brazil, when Angra released Temple Of Shadows, EVERY SINGLE DRUMMER get completly shocked. It changed the way that brazilian metal drummers thinks about drumming possibilities. It was a blast at the time. Aquiles is a beast.
I'm surprised that Winds of Creation didn't make it onto this list, Vitek at only 15 years old absolutely going bananas on this album is truly awe inspiring, R.I.P. Vitek 🤘
the rev from a7x for me; inspired and motivated me to start drumming and although he may not be the best of all time, he is my personal top pick because of the impact he had on my drumming hobby. he was also a musical genius and has some tracks that do show how skilled he was. rip rev 🙏
Iowa was the first Slipknot album I bought and it's great for if you're in a bad mood. I have that Blink-182 album. Travis Barker is awesome. For Slayer I always loved that double bass part in Angel of Death too. Another great punk drummer in my opinion is Tré Cool from Green Day. He'll surprise you.
Deaths songwriting in general was on another level. But to me, their best is Individual Thought Patterns. Edit: Are you aware of Quo Vadis? Yanic Bercier is crazy.
The drums on Stranger Aeons by Entombed make my blood boil. The mix is insane and the fills and accents are so good. If you havent heard it I highly recommend you do. Preferrably on a loud ass system.
Dude I had such a similar journey to my obsession in death metal drumming. I ignored LOG for a few years long ago and then one day, I saw the light, and it changed me. Ashes of the wake changed me so much I got a tattoo in honor of that very album.
Travis Barker has always been disrespected just because he’s on a big band. Like I never understood the hate for that dude, I met him years ago and was a nice guy. Dude is talented alright

Cheers
Symbolic 🤩😍🤩😍🤩
Totally unexpected to see Angra's Temple of Shadows here on this list.
Congrats Samus, we from Brazil are honored to see someone like you loving soo much a album for our country 🇧🇷😎🤘
Was expecting another little band from Brazil called Sepultura haha
@@gbparadaalso me man, but Angra still is incredible to see
My favorite Gene playing is when he was with Strapping Young Lad. What a brilliant monster!!! Almost Again is a masterpiece.
Gene's drumming is absolutely INSANE with Strapping
+
SYL is speed and insane.
But Symbolic is one the most creative album on drum.
Gene use drum like melodie !
Beautiful
First time I heard Shitstorm it melted my face off. SO AMAZING!
I met him on a SYL tour. He's the nicest guy in the world ! But still, his work on Death is the climax of metal drumming TMO
Death was a big influence on me growing up drumming. Especially "Flattening Of Emotions" from Their album Human. The drum intro alone still to this day gets me going.
All respect to Hoglan but Human is hands down my favorite Death album.
@@xxxtkvxxx I agree.
RIP Sean Reinert, he was the greatest! Even if you ask Gene Hoglan, he will say so.
Something I love so much about music is that beyond just listening and enjoying it for what it is, you can go down the rabbit hole years later and explain your personal connections to certain albums, compare notes with friends, and relive all those times in your life where each song/album/band became attached to your conscience. Awesome video dude!
Two of my all time favorite bands from high school was Symphony X and Angra! Love it!
Me too. Where are you from?
So talking about coming late to the party I've been subscribed to this guy for years and only just now found out that he was and according to Wikipedia still is the drummer for decrepit birth wow maybe what my mother said is true I just don't know how to pay attention very good
He did a video of all the tours he was part of. I don't remember what he labeled the video tho
@@wizzardx666 I couldn't believe it Googled decrepit birth and there was pre-amazing beard Samus
How is this commented 3days ago on a video posted 8hrs ago….

I hope you do more of these types of videos. This is my fav upload of yours and I’ve probably watched it like 5 times already over the last year. It’s awesome hearing about your influences and your stories from the past - you should make a series out of it. 🤘🏻
thank you my friend!!!
slayers reign in blood was definitely the album that changed my drumming all across the board man.. great album.. 🤟🤟
Speaking of punk drummers: the guy from Yellowcard and his snare fills did change part of my drumming journey. So clean
Every year that passes by, if I hear any Necrophagist song, I'm like "Man if this came out this year it would be groundbreaking"
Many of the albums in the video impressed me when i first listened to them. Epitaph has impressed me again watching this video and ive played it a thousand times.
Epitaph when it came out was just miles ahead of anything that was out at the time. It’s no wonder he never wrote a 3rd album (as gutting as that is)
I could watch Sam geek out over metal all day. Not even metal; just music in general. This is the reason I subscribe.
I got goosebumps at 13:50 when Puritanical popped up. THANK YOU! :) It's still my favourite album of music!
Your influences and order of finding these albums/bands directly mirrors mine in a lot of ways. It’s really a great trip down memory lane. Awesome video.
"Power of inner strength" by Grip Inc... Dave Lombardo's (Slayer) side project is still to this day, a little gem in my library... 😎
Man, this compilation was epic.
I really feel sorrow and sadness for anyone that doesn't listen to metal. They've missed so much.
Christy is overlooked as a all-time great!
I actually told Nick that when I met him at Tattoo The Planet in 01 haha
Keep up the great work man.
My favourite drumming albums, in no particular order.
Maiden-Seventh Son
Opeth- Blackwater Park
COF- Cruelty and the Beast
Slayer- Reign in Blood
GnR- Illusion 2
I could go on…
I met Nick once when he was a hired gun for a band that toured through our town and my friends opened for them. I told him he should release an instructional DVD about his creative process because of how blown away I was by his drumming in Dimmu. He didn't seem to keen and I was just a drunk twenty something rambling on so I wasn't particularly convincing when I said the world needed that I guess.
@@LordBaktor he said he was going to do more online through the pandemic but it never materialised.
Good to see Hannes Grossmann mentioned... he seems to appear in a million different bands these days (Alkaloid and early Obscura being my favorites), but his playing is always nothing short of amazing, both technically and musically speaking... 👌
He and Christian Müenzner well could be the germany tech death scene
His drumming on blotted science album was sick beyond sick...
@@lalmene1965 Indeed! 👌
I can totaly releate to the Dimmu album.I had almost the same reaction back then;
"Oh no? Synth shit again...."
"Actually this is nicely composed and done"
"Oh, that was a nice change. Quite epic intro"
"HOLY SHIT! WTF just started?!"
Brow, i had the exact same reaction when i first heard it, especially with "Kings of the Carnival Creation"
The Shape of punk to come is one of the coolest albums I've ever heard from a drumming perspective.
Yesss, Refused has some of the best punk drumming of all time.
Symbolic and The Sound of Perseverance
MORBID ANGEL? I was surprised when you didn't list the mightiest of mighties....Pete "Commando" Sandoval!!!!!!!
This made me feel really old but love your album picks. I remember when they were all released.
-Bill G
thank you Bill!!!!
I’d say my 10 would probably be…
1.) Nevermind by Nirvana
2.) One By One by Foo Fighters
3.) Paranoid by Black Sabbath
4.) Led Zeppelin 1 by Led Zepplin
5.) A Night At The Opera by Queen
6.) A Day At The Races by Queen
7.) Outlandos d’Amour by The Police
8.) Songs For The Deaf by QoTSA
9.) Toto 4 by Toto
10.) Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
This was a lot harder than I thought.
A couple of the biggest for me, Cowboys from Hell and Images and Words
On Symbolic, the man himself Gene Hoglan drew inspiration from Sean Reinart's legendary drumming on Human. I always loved Gene's drumming on the album, but that made me realise just how good Sean is, and his work with Cynic and other prog projects proves it. Really unique drummer, who captured the essense of prog drumming and carried it beyond.
i had a pretty similar expericence, and my passion and rejoicement came back last year when discovering FIRST FRAGMENT
some of my favorite drumming albums (metal)
Sepultura - Arise; Slayer - God Hates us All; Slipknot - Iowa; Mayhem - Chimera; Deicide - Legion; Abhorrent - Intransigence; Morbid Angel; - Formulas fatal to the Flesh; Cryptopsy - Self titled; Ulcerate - Everything is Fire...and of course my favorite of them all..... Death - Human
Man, Arise waa so good.
@@BLASTbeatDAD I agree.
Death makes me cry too, just Chuck's voice and guitar playing are so beautiful. Plus it makes me sad that he's gone and I'll never get to experience them live 😢
I really appreciate Opeth drummers. I am not drummer my self but damn they are good. For me it would be Opeth - Ghost reveries
Bro, every single album you cite I also call my main influence…from 1 to 10. Unbelievable. No wonder I love this channel ❤
Felix Griffin on D.R.I.'s Four of a Kind made me know I wanted to be a drummer and not just play the drums. Chris Pennie on Miss Machine by Dillinger Escape Plan made me really start challenging myself.
Fates Warning - Parallels. Mark Zonder 'nuff said!
Hell yeah, i wondered that almost no one has mentioned him. One of the Greatest.
Dude I’m not even kidding when I say this, when I heard about joey’s death I actually started to tear. RIP JOEY JORDISON☠️
Same he was such a big inspiration to me
My boss called off work that day and came in the next day hungover af according to him he spent the day getting drunk and jamming to slipknot
the cymbal choke at 20:22 tickled hard-- Awesome hearing one of MY inspirations' inspirations
Brian "Brylle" Rasmussen from Mnemic is such an underrated drummer. His fills live are just incredibly tight and strong. Really freaking technical too.
The blink 192 got me! So glad you added them in! Such a great band and brings back my school days of an inspiring young drummer! Thanks!
Memories come flooding back to me as I watch this video 😊❤💪🏻
I'd say for me my favorite percussion albums would be
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Slipknot - Self Titled
Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten
Dying Fetus - Regin Supreme
Rush - 2112
Death - Symbolic
Korn - Life is Peachy
oh man its so much fun getting to hear about new/old bands and hear other ppls takes on them i fkn loved this vid and i added angra to my playlist thanks !
Imagez and words, dream theatre, changed my outlook, bro. The melody's are awesome. 🤘
Archspire - "Bleed the Future" is an INSANE album for drumming. Definitely check it out.
You are godly choosing and justice for all. Huge respect
As a drummer myself, Lars and Dave Grohl are the reasons why I picked up the instrument.
I know its more simple than the ones you listed but it was the chorus on Empty Words that really blew me away for Gene Hoglan
Death had tons of great musicians coming and going, two of which also had their own band Cynic. If you haven't heard that, pick up the OG debut Focus. Sean Reinert's drumming was technical, fast but tasteful. RIP Sean.
Both Reinhart and Hoglan are beasts behind the kit.
The Perennial Quest outro is an absolute stunner… RIP Chuck!
Vitek 🤘
I'm really new to metal, the most standout drumming I've heard so far was Lars. The way he loses rhythm and catches it again in Orion is pure magic
the rev from a7x for me; inspired and motivated me to start drumming and although he may not be the best of all time, he is my personal top pick because of the impact he had on my drumming hobby. he was also a musical genius and has some tracks that do show how skilled he was. rip rev 🙏
Jimmy inspired many and he definalty left his mark in the metal industry
@@garfieldgetsreal yeah for sure, he may not be up there for others, but for me hell yeah
I think Porcupine Trees In Absentia was the most transformational for me. And besides that, maybe some Dream Theater album.
This. A thousand times this.
ITP is a monster of an album with Steve, Andy and Gene in them. Also Quo Vadis' last album was a drum-fest
i was excepting Gojira in this top 10 ! But you made me wanna listen to some albums i missed :D
You need to do more videos like this Sam, awesome watching you get so happy and excited talking about these records
