- In 2003 schoolgirl Jodi Jones was found savagely butchered in an enclosed woodland just a stones throw from her family home. Her then boyfriend at the time Luke Mitchell was subsequently convicted of the crime and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Lawyer Scott Forbes has followed this case since day 1 and believes there was many errors with the prosecutions case including the police's conduct during the investigation. Scott believes Luke is innocent of the crime and the REAL killer is still at large.
Scott is the author of the book, "A Long Walk To Justice" in which he details who else could be responsible for the murder of Jodi and also who was involved in playing a part in Luke Mitchell's conviction.

It's so clear that Luke Mitchell didn't lead the search party to Jodi, granny had been tipped off with the intent of setting the young boy up. Even advising two individuals not to come forward for 5 days.
Why was a police officer who had a personal relationship with the Jones family allowed to be the lead detective on the case
And 2 senior police officers in Dalkeith were family members
And the sky reporter's (who interviewed Luke and mum at home) brother was a local copper too

Since I’ve started looking into it, it’s definitely a family job. I’d go with the brother that’s why Jodi’s granny went to those lengths to cover it up imo.

I was at Drummond High secondary school with Scott, and strangely I ended up on the course at Newbattle Abbey with Scott in 2003 Scott went on to study law like myself, He has gave years and years of dedication in this case to get the truth out, He is a down to earth guy who will leave no stone un turned. The corruption, and colluding that goes on within the police, legal field, and all these other partnership agencies is staggering. In line with Article 6 of Human rights act 1998 biased and prejudice overspill if adjudicators / investigators are sitting on panels, with each other this creates overspills of biased and conflict of interest, and these people know the rules under recusal. This young lad life has been destroyed, and his most formative years have been destroyed I sincerely hope that Scott and his team get Luke a retrial with a legal team who are there to represent him with material facts and the now available concealed evidence. If Luke does get freedom will he truly ever get it to restore his life ? We only have to look at Sally Clark ( solicitor now dead) and Angela Cannings who life was destroyed by their miscarriage of justice and disgraced Professor Roy Meadows input into their incarceration. www.theguardian.com/society/2005/jul/15/NHS.uknews1 Keep up the good work Scott and I and my organisation will be supporting and following this story.

Recently stopped watching true crime videos because it was all too lighthearted and took away from the victim’s story. This is so well put together and can tell the only motive here is to inform the public and seek justice for both parties. Suits you perfectly, especially as someone who’s come from comedy, this was executed incredibly well.

This is another example of police Scotland and police imcompatace and now there ex detectives who run a security firm looking over evidence and finding wholes in the statements. I know of two murder where suspects were set free from court because of the Scottish police imcompatace and now ex deceives make money giving interviews about a cases they messed up plus coaching of the press cop friends with a relative of the decest RIP joddie hope justice is served.

Watched loads of documentaries in this and this is defiantly the best one I have watched. This guy has gave so much more information, poor Luke ! Unfortunately I don’t think he will ever get justice.
Luke Mitchell was before a court of Law with 20 Chapters of evidence against him, which is a Lot for one defendant. The High Court Judge & Jurors - Saw & Heard that evidence & found him Guilty, Beyond A Reasonable Doubt. He has had all the appeals he will Ever get & the Innocence Project rejected his application due to the Overwhelming evidence that showed Exactly what he did to this poor girl Plus his previous degenerate & violent behaviours. His own Brother testified Against him & he nor their father have had Anything to do with Luke since the trial Nor that so-called mother. They sure as hell have Nothing to do with this Shameful campaign, that's all just a white-wash for Money.

Well done mate. You presented this very well. Scott has done an amazing job exposing all this (and SL). The scariest thing of all is that if SL and Scott hadn’t exposed all this nobody would ever have known anything except somebody was jailed. Contaminating the crime scene, moving the victim, not covering the victim, not examining the clothing or houses of the search party or other suspects. Not confirming the whereabouts of certain people on the night of the murder - not checking when in Jones house if JJ was in or NOT in…they didn’t go up to his bedroom to check, so they couldn’t verify where he was from that afternoon until the next day - a missing 24hrs. They also knew that Stocky Man was JJ a couple of weeks after the murder but didn’t bother making that information public. They then managed to get statements from the search party saying LM went straight over the wall after the initial statements said the dog alerted them. Clearly corrupt. They then used Andrina Bryson as an independent witness when she wasn’t at all. She had been in the Jones house as had her partner and his brother. Photos later appeared online of them all together in the Jones house taken months or years before the murder. As for the Easthouses sighting.......when driving round that bend at the path towards Easthouses you cannot see anyone inside the path entrance unless you had a neck like Chucky which rotates 360 degrees. The test done in Murder in a Small Town was actually in the wrong direction and the girl still saw nothing. Coming the way Bryson did, you would see nothing if the person had entered the path. As if all of that isn’t bad enough, the Crown have recently instructed Police to destroy evidence 4 years before they’re legally allowed to. Mitchell was fitted up, there is no doubt about that now.

Having driven past that path entrance myself, you would see nothing going round that bend towards Easthouses. That will be why those 2 people were never traced, they possibly never existed.

@@daylemackintosh9966 no, the new Lord Advocate who just happens to be the wife of Luke's trial prosecution QC Turnbull, refused the 25K+ petition including backing from MSPs for an Independent Review Enquiry - that would show up the Lothian Police ineptitude & the crown prosecution hiding stuff from the defence & judge. So there lies that reason. Also no coincidence since Murder In A Small Town documentary last year...they were running scared & her in the new position last summer - shockingly sanctioned the destruction of evidence in this case when by law it should have been kept til at least 2024/5.

I think the more publicity about this case and the inconsistencies of the evidence , will hopefully open up an independent investigation on the miscarriage of justice this poor boy has had to suffer. I think people should note, luke could have been free now if he admitted murder, but he refuses to do so as he's innocent. The fact that this case hasn't been reopened to find the real killer is shocking. Someone who could kill in such a frenzied way, more than likely would kill again, or has killed before. Are the police really going to let this boy rot in jail because of their mistakes and negligence. Shocking.

A lot of things have puzzled me in this case, and many times I've been 'excited' to finally get to read or hear certain things that have been hidden....Jodi phycology reports that no one from the defense knew existed, being one....why did the police hide it?
I would also love to know that Scott and to why they also hid other things from the Jury...If the Jury knew everything Luke Mitchell would never have been charged. It's shocking what they got away with and I can't wait for the day when all the truth comes out and Luke & Jodi get the justice they so deserve I hope they don't have to wait long for there justice ⚖️⚖️⚖️⚖️

Scott you make a great point. Ever since it came out about the destroying of forensic evidence.. I have started wondering to myself.. " now that luke is close to serving his minimum of 20 years.. Will they let luke out on good behaviour... Making it impossible to clear his name because they've refused a retrial and destroyed forensic evidence.. In the hope that everyone will just be glad he's out and brush the whole thing under the carpet? I mean.. I know it's been said that for someone to be released they need to "admit guilt" and show remorse.. But let's face it the police haven't exactly followed their own rules? By premature destroying of evidence for a start. Anythings possible. Has it ever crossed anyones mind that the police might say "well.. That's 20 years now. He's been a good prisoner.. Doesn't seem a risk to public because he's well behaved.. Out the door u go... Done and dusted." so that they never ever have to admit they made mistakes or that the truth won't come out?
Whether that happens or not, we will still stick together and fight this right to the bitter end to clear Luke’s name and have the real killer and his accomplices put behind bars, it’s not over yet by a long shot.. The corrupt police will be outed too…

The problem is as Sandra lean pointed out on another podcast is that Luke was sentenced to life with the minimum term being 20 years so technically he’s sentenced without limit of time if doesn’t admit guilt no matter how good a prisoner he is they won’t let him out

You get couples who murder their own children in the most horrendous ways and go all the way through court pointing the fingers at each other deflecting blame even though they are equally to blame.. Yet they seem to be walking the streets again in less than 10 years. If you have a young man who can still maintain his innocence nearly 20 years later surely at this point you'd expect those in charge of his parole decisions would be like hmm OK let's try and talk to this man and find out how we can get to the bottom off this since his minimum term has been served... Especially since he's passed a lie detector. Being locked up for a crime you did not commit is bad .. But staying locked up for a crime you didn't admit is worse... its like being constantly called a liar every single day of your life. I couldn't imagine the mental torture x
@@lucyboyce7491 in my opinion that tried to make a point with the sentence after it being the longest single trial in Scottish history and the amount they spent to get him convicted. From what I’ve seen/read luke keeps his spirits up by knowing he never done the crime and had openly said he would rather stay where he is than admit something he never done just to be free. Lie detectors will never be used in court as evidence and after like passed his working prison the rules were changed that only prisoners with active proceeds could undertake one which makes absolutely no sense if they can’t be used 🤷♀️

I remember thinking at the time of this terrible crime, that if hanging was legal Luke would have been hung within weeks because of the media exposure within days it was shocking .Luke has had opportunities to be released with the lure of pleading guilty and has always said if he did it he would have admitted it by now, he will never admit to a crime he did not commit God love his poor mother and him fitted up .

Luke Mitchell was before a court of Law with 20 Chapters of evidence against him, which is a Lot for one defendant. The High Court Judge & Jurors - Saw & Heard that evidence & found him Guilty, Beyond A Reasonable Doubt. He has had all the appeals he will Ever get & the Innocence Project rejected his application due to the Overwhelming evidence that showed Exactly what he did to this poor girl Plus his previous degenerate & violent behaviours. His own Brother testified Against him & he nor their father have had Anything to do with Luke since the trial Nor that so-called mother. They sure as hell have Nothing to do with this Shameful campaign, that's all just a white-wash for Money.
His highly sadistic Premeditated crime was so heinous & wicked it's likely that he'll Never get out.
Sandra Lean & now Scott Forbes wrote books of BS to line their Own pockets & all the media hoo ha for over 3 years on utube videos has some people hypnotised because that's the Whole Aim. Yep they blame the cops that's how Both Con Artists rake in the hard-done-by members of society in particular.

Thank you for this showing the failures of the Scottish Justice System in Luke’s case. Having known both Luke and Jodi it breaks my heart that there has been no justice for Jodi and that Luke has spent more than half his life in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
There are so many problems with this case that it makes me livid. Sadly, the only reason that I can come up with for it is the fact that Jodi’s family were already aware of her murder and who her killer was and then helped the police to frame Luke so that Joseph would get away with it.
Of course once the police framed him with an enormous amount of assistance from the media, the Scottish Judicial System have constantly refused to accept that there is any reason to doubt Luke’s guilt.
I agree 💯 with you, but, why would the police cover for that family ? Something so very wrong with this case.
I don’t think the police intentionally covered for the family, I think that the family succeeded in making the police believe that Jodi was with Luke when she left the house when it wasn’t true and that Luke was the one who found the body and didn’t make it clear that there were members of the family with him. By the family making the police believe both those things it was a sure way to make them believe that Luke was the killer. After that, as became obvious to everyone, the police never even considered that it could be anyone other than Luke. It even appeared that the police intentionally ignored any evidence that didn’t fit in with their decision to prove Luke was guilty

The fact that there were officers with links to the family should have meant that they had nothing to do with the case and Dobbie should never have been in charge. My only hope now is that there will be some way of getting an independent review of the whole case and Luke will be proven innocent. I would also like to see the officers involved in covering things up held accountable for what they’ve done.

I did hear a whisper that jodis dad was a policeman but thot that was wrong as he was a postman, I know jaj is now a police officer, I thought the only connection was dobbie being pals with Agnes. This now shows why they were so keen to protect thier own and blame luke. I hope lukes legal team go for criminal charges against every single one of them!! Now we know why they're getting jobs in the police despite thier history 🤬🤬

Both Jodie and Luke where let down by the system clearly Luke is innocent....
The music level over this dialogue made it so hard to follow even with closed captions. As someone from the Southern US that usually does well with heavy accents, I really had to use my noggin to translate. But, this was so well done, and I am convinced they have the wrong man. I have strong suspicions that this was a family job and family/police coverup. I hope this gets the attention it deserves and the real killer(s) are brought to justice.

I lived in the area very close to the murder site when this happened, my brother went to the police incident van to let the police know within days to tell them that he had walked through the woods on to the golf course at around 5.10 after the police appealed for anyone in the area he was told not to worry because they knew who the murderer was, they also went to my uncles house to get dna from males in the area, my uncle was elderly and outside the age frame of males they wanted dna from but was told by the police "we know who done it, it was the boyfriend and we are looking no further"
Breaching their own rules every time they said it, planting the seeds of doubt if you knew otherwise! And people are ok with them not having any type of recording device. This is exactly why I record on my phone any interaction with Police Scotland 👍And even when they do come out of the stone ages, I will continue too, and upload it to the cloud, because we all know they would delete theirs 🤣🤣
