The acting John Goodman does at 2:21 is great. He goes from laughing to furious within a second. Sitcoms almost never do acting as good as that. He could accept his dad just having a romance with Crystal and it eventually ending, but he thought getting married was the worst thing they could do.

To be fair, Ed DID go on trips a lot, but it's not like he abandoned her. He did what he could to help her out whenever she'd have her psychotic meltdowns. And this was before Dan was even born. I'd say Ed is pretty noble for taking all the heat from Dan for years, just so he could hide Audrey's (Dan's mother) illness from his son. He's a good guy, just not a good family man. As for Crystal, she's a sweetheart imo But she was lonely and desperate for a partner, and Ed took advantage of this. They weren't meant to be together at all.
