Dan’s detail in remembering the first time he saw her gave her brief reminder of her being someone who is important and worthy. Despite her physical beauty and great personality, she struggles with self-esteem, and through her difficult relationships, she lost her self. Dan’s words brought her back.
Deep down inside, one of the things we crave most in life is that we're remembered in one way or another because it makes us feel special, like we made a good lasting impression in your life.
I love this scene. It’s so special. How Dan had to make sure before she left that Jackie knew how he had remembered her. How Jackie had to catch her breath for the way he made her feel. It’s great.
Except it's a horrible scene. The show's executives used this story line to play around with permanently writing Roseanne off of the show and pairing up Dan with Jackie. The scene doesn't fit the series at all, nor does it represent Roseanne's family in real life. It's the worst scene in the entire series.
@@davepane7306 Except the behind the scenes reasons for this scene being written, don't change the fact that it is a great scene if you don't give a fuck about why it came to be written.
@@NaptownClassic you make no sense. I never said I didn't like the acting, I said THE SCENE, let me repeat... THE SCENE! Nor does it represent Roseanne's family in real life. Jackie was always meant to be an antagonist to Dan and a confidant to Roseanne. It's one of the worst scenes in the entire Roseanne series.
@@maryschetrompf4197 I think that was the point. After all the chaos in the first season of Roseanne, as well as the fact she was trying to get Tom Arnold more involved in the show, this episode was a warning from the producers that the show could go on without her.
I don't think people understand how important this scene really is. It's not flirting, Dan is just taking advantage of his role in Jackies life (former crush and sisters husband who she sees frequently) to remind her that she deserves someone who is going to treat her like she's all that matters. Sometimes it's the little things that someone special, even if you don't realize how special they are to you, says to you that can make all the difference. I really loved this scene.
Tiffani Farrington well ABC big shot network is a bunch of losers. Seriously the wonderful shows that made the network money and they think they have the upper hand all the time. If people would wise up and boycott ABC network until they learn some humility?! They sure as hell taught Rosanne some, it’s too bad they don’t have any!
It's about what Jackie thinks she worth and what Dan KNOWS she's worth, which is more than what she gets from the guys she dates. When Jackie said Dan was "the perfect guy" she said it in a way that she thought she'd never find/deserve someone like him and that no one would ever do something as simple and important as remember. Dan proved she deserves both.
Yes exactly! That means tons when you think that you where never noticed. I had that happen once and yes I has always thought no one care back in school yrs or that they even noticed me.
The ending of the scene was played out perfectly. How Dan describes Jackie was the most touching moment. I wanted to clinch my heart and just than Jackie did. Now that’s some amazing writing and amazing acting.
The relationship between Jackie and Dan is my favorite in the whole series. I love the way that they're always picking on eachother yet truly care for eachother. My favorite episode is Crime and Punishment when Dan is arrested after beating up Jackie's abuser. The conversation between them in the next episode I.believe is the most well written dialogue in the whole series. I love the way Jackie calls Dan a stupid jackass before hugging him. I also like how Dan never says WHY he beat up Fisher.
He's talking about why Dan never told the cops why he beat up Fisher. Dan thought beating up Fisher was enough punishment, he spared Fisher the legal trouble as well as Jackie going through that long court process.
This scene left me with so many emotions the first time I watched it. Awkwardness. Shyness. Nervousness (that something would happen). Happiness. Sadness that Jackie has no one like Dan. Thankfulness that Dan showed her what a true man is. Idk. Just my view.
This was such a beautiful scene, when Dan tells her the first time he seen her - it shows Jackie she mattered and wasn’t a no body, it also shows how Dan respect both Jackie and his wife. Back when acting was amazing
Love me some "Dan Conner." When he stopped her at the door with his remembrance, I thought, "Wow, you *do* remember!" And it made me teary, dammit!! :^D

There were three scenes in this original series that stand out in my mind. This scene; the scene where Dan goes to beat up Fisher; and the scene where Roseanne talks to her Dad’s corpse at his funeral.
this part has always reminded me of my husband and my sister. Dan and jackie have always had a relationship that has reminded me of my husband and sister and how close they are. No! Dan Conner doesn’t have affairs. That was the whole point of Roseanne coming back and saying at the end of Season Nine that she made the whole thing up about Dan cheating with his mom’s nurse because she was trying to deal with the fact that his heart attack actually killed him. It never once occurred to me that these two ever would’ve had an affair because they both adore Roseanne and wouldn’t hurt her for anything. We see them spend most of their time picking at each other that we forget that they probably wouldn’t be able to do that without also sharing a deeply-seated mutual respect. Both characters are so complex, and this scene shows both being vulnerable in ways we don’t often see with each other. It’s funny how neither of them seem surprised by the other in this scene. They both reach across to the other very sweetly and very naturally.
Dialogue like this is what made the series so great. Everything Dan said was right. I just wish that Jackie took what Dan said to heart more, and actually bettered her situation. THE END MADE ME CRY 😭😭😭❤️❤️ I love this scene
"Yeah, I hated you but I thought you were cute!" Reminds me of visiting my friend in school with his cute younger sister who had a crush on me. I'm sure she's beautiful now, lol
This is my very most favorite scene from the original Roseanne! It reminds me very specifically of my very dear friend timmy and a moment he told me I deserved better men then I'd let pick me! His entire head turned bright red it embarrassed him so much to tell anyone who's not his remarkable and also dear friend his wife nina.
Roseanne is Dan's best friend, and Jackie is his little sister.
For me this scene exemplifies the word NUANCE, when if ever do you see real, human nuance in a sitcom??
One of my favorite scenes from the show. Dan was great.
The beauty of the acting in this scene is that it sums up their relationship as in-laws in a way that's realistic and honest. It's exposition but it's such a natural, normal conversation that any of us could have with anyone we know.
This is one of my favourite scenes
This scene could not have been more perfect.Love Dan & Jackie.
Friggin love john Goodman. Hopefully the new series lasts that long
I was always a little bit in love with Dan...
Always been in love with Dan
Same. And I was a kid lol.
Dan is the perfect husband...besides Jack from This is Us lol
When he said not all guys are like that and he said I'm not like that Hahaha Jack Pearson came to my mind. Lol
And Phil from modern family
George cooper from young Sheldon
how sweet is this best show ever
Love this scene
My favorite sitcom of all time !
I think this scene might have gotten her that Emmy.
It's a damn shame John never got one for Roseanne
He’s the unsung hero of that show.

I always tear up @ the end of this scene ❤❤❤❤❤❤
John Goodman's favorite episode. He loved that scene with Laurie Metcalf
Laurie Metcalf was in Desperately Seeking Susan
This is the definition of blue collar. The perfect working class family. They will never get this again it's too perfect. I hate that they tried with the Conners and then they tried to do roseanne without roseanne. You can't split these people up. Miss this show so much.
It's sweet hearing their backstory
Who's watching this amidst the 2020 pandemic
