Thank you, I didn't expect to get it back!👍😁 Love the design, and I hope you enjoy the Moldavite, you don't have to send that one back. You did a phenomenal job with the challenges of this stone.👍I will have to find a setting for this, but I know the jeweler in town so if I have it set, I'll send the pic of it.😁
Thanks Jason. I'm glad the gem held together. It's not perfect as the divots and the rutile plays up with the final polish. I had a feeling that the rutile would have some effect on the cutting and polishing. I will have to try cerium next time on rutile. Cheers Cliff
Nice job with a difficult stone, Cliff. I like your decision to leave the thick girdle. It really enhances the amount of rutile within the stone. Thanks much for the video... Always a pleasure to watch you work.
When I first saw the raw crystal I thought it would be a shame to cut it, but I see I was wrong to think that. You really enhanced the natural beauty of the stone with that cut. What a beauty!
I do have another chunk of rutilated quartz that weighs 1264.5 ct, it has gold and copper coloured rutile in it. Also one more that I have has only copper coloured rutile in it, and it weighs 488.5 ct.😁 So if you want any more, I think I have plenty.😊
The large ones takes ages. Probably take a month to facet one of those large ones. I learnt a lot from faceting the piece you sent me. If I had my time again I would be inclined to polish with cerium oxide. There a small black pits on the surface which is caused by the bubbles and the rutile. I think the prism effect looks great through. Cheers Cliff
It was challenging. I think that polishing with cerium may be a better option, but for the amount of inclusions it had it still held together and looks good. Regards Cliff
Thanks Jason, awesome so see everyone sharing and working together. How stunning, rutile doesn't seam like a fitting name for something so spectacular thou. Thanks again for another interesting video.
I love the cut you did on this stone..I think with the thin strands inside it looks quite mystical ,it would look beautiful made into a piece of jewellery with either green, blue or red gemstones around it ,will compliment it beautifully, even yellow stones..Loved watching it come to life 😀
A lovely piece... and another great video. I'm not a gem cutter/polisher at all. Just an engineer but i really admire the precision in the art. SOOooo tempting to try...lol
What a lovely gem! This must be the first time I see this kind of quartz as a faceted gem, until now I have only seen it as a cabochon, or even a sphere (I know, I know, I'm a noob). Thanks for sharing this, and thanks to Jason too!
Beautiful stone and I enjoy seeing you and I using the same Diamond discs what brand is your machine cuz I need a faceting machine and was looking at a GemTech. I have an Ameritool 6" lap machine but no facet arm.
I would be very happy to send you some Rose Quartz from a semi-local (3 hour drive) quarry I have. I got tons, almost literally. Not the best quality, but it would be nice to see it become even more beautiful ^-^. (I will be keeping the pieces the size of my leg though)

Jason, where is the quartz from?
Nice job with a difficult stone, Cliff. I like your decision to leave the thick girdle. It really enhances the amount of rutile within the stone.
Thanks much for the video... Always a pleasure to watch you work.
The plan was to have a thicker girdle to retain as much rutile as possiible. Cheers Cliff
Interesting gem to cut, the sun really brought out your skilled cutting. Great job!
Thanks James.
Greetings from New York .. God Bless You..
Amazing. I like the 3D fractal 6 pointed star the facets create. I prefer this type of gem (i.e. not for sparkle).
The prism effect looks good. Regards Cliff

That type of rough should be tumbled / cabbed or faceted. I was already sliced and semi polished anyway.
Not only do I love your lapidary work but I am so happy to learn about new stones!
Thanks popomomo12....I enjoyed the challenge.

Wow jeff thats stunning, the gold rutile is amazing, especially in the sunlight.
Wooowww what a beautiful gem and star cut!
Thank you......
Very beautiful stone!!!!
Wow! What a challenging piece. And so nicely worked. Love the out of doors images. Well done again Cliff.
It was challenging. I think that polishing with cerium may be a better option, but for the amount of inclusions it had it still held together and looks good. Regards Cliff
What an unusual stone! You did a FABULOUS job showing off all the rutile embedded in it!!
Thanks Jason, awesome so see everyone sharing and working together. How stunning, rutile doesn't seam like a fitting name for something so spectacular thou. Thanks again for another interesting video.
Great idea to do the tablet cut!
Thank you.

Love this gem and love this cut Cliff.
Thanks...It's a interesting design. Works well with flat rough material.
Great videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for the entertainment.

Give it a try Richard. Join a gem club and they will teach you. Cheers Cliff
@@VintageTimeGems Cheers... I will look out for one.
Good job.

Thanks Dead Pool....Regards Cliff
Wow, that cut is very interesting. Love it.
Thanks Keith.
You do such amazing work.
Thank you! Cheers!

Thanks Kathy. You are correct it's usually made in a cab. Not often faceted.
That's a really cool and creative way to cut a stone like that one.
Hi Cliff good job
Thank you.
This is interesting and proves rutile quartz is workable, I intend (dream) to facet quartz with one strand of rutile center of table to culet.
I was happy the gem didn't crumble apart. Quartz really holds up well to be faceted with inclusions.
Go Jason 👏👏👏🍻
Thanks Jason....
I love your videos! They've inspired me to start really learning lapidary myself! I'm also a huge fan of this cut!
Let me know how you go with learning lapidary Hyacinth? Thanks for watching. I learnt a lot about faceting such a gem.
A great job on a stone I never would have thought could be faceted. Thanks for all of your videos.
Thanks Laurie...
Love it!! Amazing how you cut the gem to align with the rutile threads within the quartz.
Thanks jabeye
It looks magnificent
Love the commentary please do more like this love you work
This was awesome
Thank you friss
This was beautiful to watch!!! Well done!!! I can't wait to see more!! 😊💖
Thank you Sherri.
I love it! 😀
Hey that's gonna be me one day! You gem Sir! You really did that one justice
The gem had some issues, but it was fun to facet.
That is so beautiful!!
Thanks Todd
Would love to see the final setting of this beautiful gem as a follow up. Great cut design on a great gem.
The person that I sent it to will have to that..Regards Cliff
I still haven't set it in anything, just waiting until I get good enough at casting to make a setting for it.
Great job!
Thanks Scott.
Very nice!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful
Thank you.
Jaws says its ,,,Futile not rutile to make this one perfect LOL lovly way to show off that stone

Hocam yine çok güzel ve sade olmuş.. elinize sağlik 🤗
Thank you Hakan.
If you do custom gemstones for people; I’d love to see a pink or chrome Dravite Tourmaline in a Poval or evening a Portuguese Cushion
I don't do custom gemstones for people. I prefer to enjoy the art form and the hobby. Cheers Cliff
Interesting peice
does the gold spall when its pulled off by the wheel?
The moust amazing gime ever
Can I send you a sample of peridot that I found in a volcano of Chile??
If you look in the description you can email me. Regards Cliff
Nice, I will, the next month I'll go to my mineral place at La Poruña volcano for more minerals, there is easily find peridot, quartz, and malaquite.
Hiii 😊😍
Hi Madhu....
What is the effect of having the girdle being polished or not?
It has better optics.
I'd be concerned all my Laps would get Contaminated with Rutile. Especially the finer laps.
Can you cut sodalite?
I think it's not hard enough to facet.
Please reply index number
Love the stone just not one of my favorite cuts.
Hex cuts are typically not a favourite. Tablet cuts serve a specific purpose. I personally prefer deep pavs and crowns with a high profile.
