I’m learning a lot because I am going to start being a gemstone cutter so I’ve been writing down a lot of notes have been watching a lot of your videos and I just wanted to say thank you take care and God bless.
The machine that I have is a older machine but you use what you have. I have been bitten by the facet bug bad. I have a bunch of stones that I have bought. Multiple types and various sizes. You have answered so many of my questions but I do have more, I will always have questions. Your videos are very informative. I like the way you explain while you are doing it. All I have been able to facet are the round designs. I have to figure out the ovals and others. Thank you so much for your videos. Now on to the next one and to learn something knew. Thank you
I don´t know anything about how to to cut a a gemstone but i do find your videos very interesting sa well as relaxing and i do love your assistant Jaws with his laugh! The sparkly end result of this stone is very nice and shiny too! Hugs, Susanne.
What a fun idea! Yes, if I imagine the Philosopher's Stone it would look something like that. Bravo, and give your editor a good cuddle - he deserves it for using those Addams-like graphics :-). Thanks for sharing, and take care.
Very nice result, a big up tick in your video production, and Jaws as usual gives an Oscar winning performance. I guess your design gets submitted to an approval body for validation and authorship
Thanks Paul. I'm not aware that gem designs need approval. Most are designed on gem cad or gem studio these days. Often designs are created from mistakes made.
This one is so exquisite ,I love the rich colour of it but I love red anyway lol..I think your start up to this was Brilliant Jaws looked so cute with his specs on ,and was so patient before eating his goodies ..It really made me chuckle ,nearly as daft as my dog who actually likes wearing clothes ,but she’s a bit smaller than yours ..Would be lost without mine 😀
Hi sir cliff I am new on your Chanel I love your work it is really good art and you r doing great job I love to learn gem cutting will you be my teacher 🤗 I hope to here from you back may god keep you safe from everything
First time ever Ive seen something like this done, Its looks daunting 😰 beautifully done and you take a lot of care. Im just mainly surfing gems and finding out where we can take our kids rock picking, I may look at this a long way down the track if we find we want to delve further into cutting gems, but for now just happy watching you 🤗🤗🤗
I enjoy watching these, I have a lot to learn about gems and am eager to learn not only where to go but what to look for, I have a few specimens from my husbands Nan, I wish I had of learnt from her before she passed but knowing what I want to do now, I realise I wasn’t ready then, I am taking my kids down to our local creek to just look around and see what is there, see if we can learn anything about what Ive been studying. Thank you for sharing. 😉
Im south west nsw and im 2 hours in either direction of parkes/wagga/griffith, wagga lapidary has an open day weekend on 21st & 22nd of September, I am going to that and hoping to find a lot of information on everything.
Have you ever done any Tin Crystals. I would love to see what they look like faceted? As kids we used to pick them up, most were broken but I was always fascinated by the shimmer they gave off and wondered whether they would retain that shimmer once they were cut.
Fabulous vision. What a fantastic colour 😍. Can I ask what something like this would cost. Amazing work. Mesmerising to watch. Thanks so much for taking the time to video it an teach us all your trade 🙂
Hi. Thank you for this lesson video. I am eager to learn faveting. I am a jeweller,3d master, but like this job most of all. I want to start but i don't know which instruments are more quailified. Please advice me which firm's instruments are the best. Or enough for me. Thank you for attention
fine job you've done on this gem sir..,hope to get you some herk samples by months end..,have you ever faceted obsidian..? I think it would make a cool cabos!
I truly enjoy your videos. I am interested in gem cutting. I want to start with synthetics but need to know who I can trust for rough stock. Please advise if allowed. ty
Thanks. You can buy the source material from a range of places. Ebay, China, gem shows. Prices can vary $23 a KG to $300 plus a Kilo if buying in bulk. Some of the blues and dark greens in CZ is expensive, but in comparison to natural gems very cheap.
Cliff, Beautiful work!!!! I have a question. Do you have a separate set of laps you keep just for sapphire? Also, What do you use to clean your laps in between cutting!!! Cheers my friend!!!
mind if i ask you where you got your machine and what it would cost? Im in the market and so far i have not seen anything that looks as beefy as that one.
@@Chiperoo123 Thanks. To me it's the fun factor of cutting a gem and also making a video. I'm just a novice at making videos, but I find it very enjoyable.

Exceptional workmanship; as always! I couldn’t help but think what your stone would be worth if it were a natural red diamond.
Thanks Kris. If it was real Ruby it would have to be over a million.

Very stunning Cliff. Just imagine if it was a pidgeon blood ruby at 75 carats. You would be a very rich man!!!!!
Thanks Ian. Yes I was thinking exactly the same thing. If only it was Ruby.
I would like to learn more about faceting? I enjoyed the show.

Just wondering if you have done any checkerboard table cuts, it would be interesting to see you cut a gem with that type of table.😁
Not a huge fan of checker boards, but I should try one some day.
Thank you
Fantastic tips for beginners - thanks. What machine are you using?
An Australian machine called a Facetstar.
@@VintageTimeGems Thanks, I am in Thailand and am going to buy a mast machine soon so am weighing up US vs Oz options.

Hey Cliff I would love to see you buy a cheap Chinese faceting machine and try to Fascinate a gemstone on that machine and see how it turns out
Thanks awesome
Thank you.
I was wondering if this works for all colours stones =light and dark , it also reminds me of very old diamond in a ring my grammar had.
fine job you've done on this gem sir..,hope to get you some herk samples by months end..,have you ever faceted obsidian..? I think it would make a cool cabos!
Thanks. I've faceted Osidian (Volcanic glass). Difficult to polish though.
Looks great! Are you going to have the pdf available for download? Great design.
Thanks Chuck. No the pdf is not available for a download. You should be able to capture a screen shot of the design on the video.

Yes I have. I made a video on flame fusion Ruby.
@@VintageTimeGems how long does it take to cut a gem? like the one in this video?
That facet rough 😍😍😍
The giggle from Jaws makes me thing of Muttley from Wackey Races
Philosophers Stone eh? I know a few alchemists that would pay dearly for that, let me know when you're ready to put it on the black market lol
If only if this The Philosopher's Stone was real. Jaws would have his own penthouse lol.
Could you supply the link to where you purchased those Zinc laps. I need to buy one.
Nicely done. Have you ever cut a briolette or a marquis?
Thanks Manuel. Marquis yes....Briolette no.
@@VintageTimeGems You should find a suitable piece of rough and do both. For that matter, what about a pear shape?
How do you cut the round form of the stone before facetting ?
What kind of tool do you use ..can you show us ??
Cliff, Beautiful work!!!! I have a question. Do you have a separate set of laps you keep just for sapphire? Also, What do you use to clean your laps in between cutting!!! Cheers my friend!!!
I only clean the polishing laps (tin) with WD40. Cheers
Hi sir I'm trying to learn to faucet stones.
Good luck with learning how to cut gems. Regards Cliff
رائع.. رائع جدا
Thank you.
Where did you get that raw material
I'm in Canada where is the best place to get supply. From starting out with nothing . I need everything where do I start.?
I would join a gem club. They would tell you the best places to get hold of faceting equipment and gems.
Wow this is amazing. Subbing now. Is there a type of set up you recommend for a beginner?
I would suggest you join a gem club or a facting guild. Usually there are always start up machines for beginners that someone will sell.

The ring was really big
How long did it take you to learn to cut. Your dog is cute, So if i get a stone from amizonite would you cut it for me. My name is Ellen
Takes about two years.
this would also be awesome if done with a garnet stone *__*
How much would be the initial investment to start cutting gems if one would be inclined to do so?
hello cliff, great video, can you tell me where you got the zinc laps from plz?
Search Ebay for - Jade Gem Angle Polishing Tool Flat Grinding Faceting Machine Polishing Wheel
I just wanna ask you the name of the gemstone that lominously glow in the dark.can you?
where can one get a faceting machine like yours?
Mine is not made anymore. It was made by a engineer in Melbourne Australia.
