Thank You. I’ve been away from Faceting for a long time and am very glad you covered the black wax dopping method as it’s what I cut my teeth on long ago.
As I recall, we (in class) made a lacquer using black wax and alcohol to apply before dopping. I’ve forgotten that recipe.
We also used a incandescent light source to get the stone and dop the same temp.

I have red wax from 1990, got it with my first Facetron in South Africa. Seems the black is better, I’ve never seen anyone using the red jewelers wax here in the USA. Rio Grande no longer gas black dopping wax, only green.

Black Wax is "the bomb". It is the best, all-round faceting dop wax IMO. I won't and don't use anything else.
