In this video , I share my experience on how to replace your shocks & struts with coilovers if your car is having some clunking noise or drivability issues. This is a complete beginner guide for those who has never done an install on a shocks & struts or coilovers and will solve that problem.

that is a decent set of parts. what qualities of the Bilstein B16 drew you to choose them? On sale? dampening rates/adjustability? did you consider any other coil over brand; maybe one that came with top hats?
This is a very great question and I’m glad you asked . What drew me towards Bilstein B16 was first , the price was on sale on Black Friday for $1200 instead of $1800 . Second is the Rear Shocks ! I explained in the video that having a one solid piece is always better than having multiple pieces to avoid clunky noises , which a metal to metal contact . That is something that was driving me crazy , and I don’t want to keep maintaining my rear shock lock rings everytime time it gets loose overtime . I just want something that can be installed correctly from the beginning and set for life instead of maintaining everytime it gets loose . Third , is the Top strut mounts , Bilstein utilizes OEM strut mounts which is a rubbery feel that acts like a cushion , other Coilovers brands use metal , so everytime you hit a bump , you will hear a metal to metal contact which is clunky noises . And as a daily driver , I don’t need camber arms , as I’m very meticulous and suspicious of having camber arms with the very tiny screws , and could get loose overtime as well. And I didn’t want that to be on my car for the long run or a daily driven vehicle. Also , there is no need to worry about spring preload , once you install the OEM strut mounts on the Bilstein Coilovers , they are already preloaded for you , so you don’t have to mess or adjust anything . Other brands require you to do so , and if you don’t properly adjust your spring preload , you will have issues in the long run as well . I have so many explanations on why I choose Bilstein over any other brand , and I can go on and on with explanations and more in depth . I will create a blog in the future as well on why I choose Bilstein over any other brand , and I’m hoping this finds it useful for you . 🥹🙏
@@Meanmachine.ms3 ... you need some pass-through sockets or box wrench and allen key to tighten those nuts down on the front coils to keep the shaft from spinning
@@K03sportthat is correct , I mentioned it in the video that you need a fancy or special tool that is an open socket to place the nut on top of the hat faster but I didn’t have that tool . However , using a wrench still worked fine for me anyways , but made the job take a bit more time , but worked .

Bilstein B16 is way better quality compare to ISC and it comes with lifetime warranty. Not to mention it's a excellent track setup. Great job!

is their (Bilstein) lifetime warranty only when the parts are installed by a profession mechanic an not a DIYer? Companies have funny wording in their warranties to help protect themselves against bad installation by non-qualified people, aka the DIYer

These cars be notorious for those clunking noises fr😂 I’m going bagged this car season bc of that. Those coilovers are a great choice! I would’ve went with those if I wasn’t going air
Going to a bag suspension setup is definitely the way to go . That’s one of my future goals and can’t wait to install it myself on the Mazdaspeed .

i didn't know about the short endlinks. but it sounds like a great idea. there's no room in the chassis area. my endlinks rub from time to time.
Yep , I experienced it myself , and it was not fun at all . Hearing those clunky noises was always bothering me and I’m glad I switched them back to OEM height .
@@Meanmachine.ms3I can’t say enough about how excellent of a video this is, with a lot of important details and tricks. I have mazdaspeed coilovers, which are basically rebranded KW. Like Bilstein, they utilize factory top hats, strut mounts, and bump stops to reduce NHV. Unlike Bilstein, the tabs are relocated so you can retain factory endinks. I also like the KW rear ride height adjuster (accessible thru the bottom ctrl arm with an Allen key) better than the collar type Bilstein and everyone else use. My only issue is the dampers didn’t tolerate city streets for very long, and gave up only after a few months. I might try B18’s out after your video, it sounds like we are aligned in our preferences lol. My question is how have the Bilstein responded to harsher roads?
@@nickoli9889 Thank you so much I’m glad you enjoyed watching this video . To answer your question regarding the Bilstein B14/B16 coilovers , the driving experience is basically Top Notch. It Absorbs every single bump on the road , and there is no harshness in driving whatsoever. Very smooth and elegant when driving and cruising normal speed, and very sporty ride when turning through those tight corners and twisty roads. I absolutely love them and recommend them to everyone.
I want to know about my transmission. For the 2009 Mazda sport. It's true so the transmission is given me a little bit of speeding in eye. Guess I wanna know what's the problem? It gave brain some like the brain. It gives us a little problem, so could you give me an advice on that please? And the transmission or I should go. Thank you

How are they holding up now?
They are holding up extremely well. Extremely comfortable and very responsive when turning through corners. I haven’t had a single issue whatsoever since I installed them more than a month ago .

Do you really need strut boots ?
Thank you for mentioning this , I forgot to say it in the video . No , You don't need the strut boots. However , for the rear , I myself do recommend it to protect the threads from breaking as it is a common issue from Bilstein since they are thin. So the rear rubber boots acts like a cushion for it .
Those two spacer looking things do have a purpose. Revise the instructions
The two thick spacers that comes with the kit are for the rear shocks. Place one spacer on each side at the bottom of the rear shock, and then place the bolt. The spacers are meant to hold the bottom portion of the rear shock so it doesn’t move left and right or doesn’t feel loose when driving .
how many miles is on your speed3?
I bought the car in January 2018 with 118k . And now it currently has 163k . 😁
