Thank you very much for this video. After watching it I decided to give the repair a try. I ordered the part from the link you provided. Part was around $40 with tax. Everything went very well and took me about 40 minutes or so. My car is much safer to drive now as it is now working correctly. Also I am retired so saving me a little money is appreciated. Thanks again.
You have no idea how much this videos helps me out. Since our mechanic went out of business, I have to become a mechanic, among other things, to keep the cars going. My sister is driving my car currently and the blinker just "broke". I was dreading the $350 labor fee. No I can do it on my own.
Pete, thanks so much for the video...very straight forward easy to follow. $15 part and 5 minute repair. Only difficulty I had was aligning the covers back together. Thanks again.
Thanks for this video. My wife's car just began this issue. So far, this will be the first easy fix on this car. Everything else has been some sort of engineering nightmare like removing the front bumper to change headlight bulbs. Subscribed!
Yeah I think all of the manufacturers got together and collectively agreed to all make headlight bulb changes nearly impossible without removing the bumper.
Thank you for this video. I just replaced the turn signal on my 2009 Chevy Malibu. You covered every detail that was necessary to make the change. It took me about a half hour and everything is working fine. Checking everything before installing the covers was a great idea. I did not have the switch pushed in far enough initially.
Thank you very much for this video. Saw this months ago.. ordered the part from Amazon for about $18. Today, after making sure I had the 7mm socket, I successfully switched out the arm on my 2006 Malibu. The right blinker wouldn’t stay in the on position when it was cold and was getting worse. Hoping this cures it. I’m the original owner, and this is the first time I did a fix like this.
Thanks for the video, had the one on my 2010 Malibu literally break during my state inspection. Very easy replacement, the only hard part was getting the covers aligned afterwards.
I changed my power steering motor last year and couldn’t put my covers back on for the life of me, so they are still not clicked in still . But now my left turning signal isn’t staying down too so mines well tackle this. Thank you for the video
That is so easy! I’ve been dealing with this forever. The shop said it would cost around $500! Unreal😠. This car has been a nightmare since I bought it new. Replaced transmission at 43,000 miles and now it’s breaking down again at 86,000miles. And all kinds of electrical issues. Locks not working. My daughter replaced the lock actuator by herself! So now I’m going to fix this. Thanks for the great video!!
Thanks! $20 for the part and about 10 total minutes of work… this probably saved me $200. Mine was actually cracked almost completely in half. I taped it together and reinforced it with chopsticks (kinda like a finger splint) for a couple days while I was waiting for the part to arrive.
Thank you, Pete. I'm changing mine tomorrow!!! Your video was very specific, detailed and simple!!! Also, thankfully mine is a telescoping steering wheel.
@@PetesGarageandperformance I got it! I had a small problem getting the cover back on, so I watched your video again and saw immediately what I was doing wrong. Went back out and voila, it snapped right back in! Thank you for your video!
Thank you for this video , i couldn't pass my car State inspection because of the switch low beam headlight it does not turn off. Now I will fix it. Great !!!
Versus removing all of those dash trim panels if you don't have a telescopic column you'll wanna consider just removing the lower knee panel or plastic trim below the column if you wanna call it that and simply remove a couple of nuts to drop the column down allowing removal of the column plastic without tearing the whole dash apart
Thank you very much Pete! I've had the issue where mine worked fine for right turns but wouldn't cancel and the left turns I had to keep my hand on it. It was very annoying but your video has allowed me to fix it on my own last night. I do have a problem, though. I have not been able to get the plastic dust shields (or whatever they are called) back on. I only pulled the bottom piece down like suggested but trying to get them to fit back on without breaking...I need help. If you or anyone reading this could offer some tips to get them back on I would be greatly appreciative!
Thank You!! Clear directions, and good camera angles made for easy replacement. Now why are the damn headlights so difficult?😂 We just pay for those to be done.
Thank you for video. I have replaced the the turn signal switch however only the left turn signal will disengage upon turning. The right turn signal will not disengage upon turning? Any thoughts on issue?
Hey good video man I just bought a Malibu 2010 this week. Hey can you do a video on how to replace an air door actuator from a chevy 2010. It started making a clicking noise near the dashboard.
I have a 2015 Malibu LT, my problem with the switch is that it's not responsive when scrolling on the dashboard menu. Fuse problem or switch problem? thank you
SO, They don't use the cam inside the steering wheel, anymore ? Busted stalk off, tried "crazy glue" back on... managed to crazy glue stub in place. Now, just need to find signal assembly for sale
I have a 2013 Malibu, and my switch will no longer switch on my bright lights. Does the combination switch need to be replaced or could it be something else?
This wasn’t my car. Remote start was an option from the factory but you can add it from GM. You have to buy it from the dealership and the kit comes with two key fobs and a secret code for programming the Body Control Module. You can’t program it without that code. So you CAN’T just buy a couple of remote start key fobs and program the BCM, because you wouldn’t have that code.
Would this fix a unwanted toggle of the auto-matic daylight running lights on/off while driving especially at night? I keep having my lights shut off and back on randomly and its very dangurious it also doesnt cancle sometimes when I turn.
Probably not. I bet there’s something going on with the ambient light sensor in the middle of the dash. It’s that little bump by the base of the windshield.
@@PetesGarageandperformance i went ahead and replaced the signal switch yesterday figured id start there and work my way along if the problem persists, havent had the automatic headlights on off message display since im still keeping a close eye on it. its $58 now for the part if anyones curious, much cheaper then a shop thanks for the video it made the job easy.

What sucks is, I took the old switch apart and all that was broken is a tiny piece of plastic on a white gear. It's supposed to flex a little and there's force on it, so I doubt that superglue would work. Someone should 3D print this little gear!

Ikr? 8 hours to change the headlights, I gladly pay the shop to do it now.

I was about to say this.

Hey, quick question...
Could you shout out a part # for that switch, or is it pretty easy to find with a Google search?
