at 7:11 when he starts using the T25 and an wrench, I found an easier way. Crank the wheel full left and you can use a regular T25 screwdriver as the steering wheel cover flattens out on the top for access. Much easier, especially on re-assembly
Thank you SO quick and easy! Good man for sharing. I cant get my cruise to work, already put resistors on LED taillights hoping new turn/cruise switch helps
From the Rock Auto page on this switch. "Switch malfunctions can cause a variety of safety issues, including non-functioning brake lights, headlights, tail lights, turn signals, hazard lights or wipers. Because of its role, switch quality is vital. Each WVE switch is engineered to meet or exceed OE performance specifications and manufactured from the OEM preferred blend of nylon- and glass-filled plastic for exceptional strength, and includes premium copper-, nickel- or silver-plated electrical terminals to ensure robust electrical connectivity. WVE offers extensive selections of exact-fit/exact-function switches for foreign nameplate or domestic models. Designed using semi-precious metal contacts Each switch subjected to rigorous testing processes Complies with all federal motor vehicle safety standards Mounting and connectors identical to OE"
Dude your trick with the 1/4” wrench and the torx bit was the best. Watched a different video at first and when he got down to the switch he said “just remove the two screws and the switch pulls off. It’s easy as that”. Glad I was able to find your video. I definitely subscribed. Thanks!
Thanks for the video just saved myself $50 from not having to take the truck to the mechanic and to anyone reading these comments who plans to do this his trick with the wrench works but I used a T25 Allen key which made life very easy
What issue was your truck doing? My blinkers come on when I press the breaks and when I turn the truck on the blinkers come on faintly and stay stuck on the dash
The video mentioned about the small spring-loaded electrical contact pin on the turning signal switch. The spring went bad on my vehicle and the horn stopped working. A new turning signal switch with a properly working contact pin fixed the problem.... Good video, right to the point with clear instructions. Thank you
Replaced my turn signal switch today. The front torx screw you have to be very careful with it so not to strip it while turning the torx bit with a wrench. I put a flat head screwdriver against the bit to keep it pushed into the screw while breaking it loose with my 1/4th inch wrench. I bought a 1/4" ratcheting box wrench to make the removal easier.
Saved me some cash with this vid man! Thanks a bunch! I was going to take it to my mechanic but after seeing your vid I did it myself on my 08 Impala. Worked like a charm and I stopped flashing people with my brights and getting dirty looks every time I took a right turn.
THANK YOU! Holy smokes I've been dealing with this issue for months and was hoping my dad would help me since he was a mechanic (Retired due to medical issues). But now I can fix this myself!
Good video, what I understand from another video, the steering wheel can be turned to the 3 o’clock position (straight ahead being 12 o’clock) and then the bottom screw can be removed with a regular torx driver instead of a bit and a 1/4” wrench.
Thanks for the video! I just bought at ‘06 GMC Sierra and drove it at night for the first time. Turned right, high beams came on. I laughed because I knew this was a problem with these year models.
You did what others could not, just by saying that the little horn tab could get damaged allowed me to repair my intermittent horn as I turned to the right only then would it work, so cleaned the brass ring, now the horn functions properly, way to go!
This video helped me a lot. Thanks. I have one turn signal not working correctly. After confirming the bulbs were good I was sure it was the flasher but after watching this video I'm convinced its the turn signal switch.
Good video: I change mine out because when running my cruise control. It would shut off if I change lanes with my signal light on. Hit my signal any at all would shut my cruise off. This change out did fix it.
Great video! You saved me a ton of money. I had a guy at a shop replace this for me some years ago, the shop charged me $500. $300 was for just the part... I stopped going to those crooks. Thanks for doing these types of videos!
This video was very helpful. I know it saved me at least $200 in labor. Plus, I was able to buy the part at a competitive price rather than paying the repair shop markup. I just finished this 'half-hour' job. It took me three days. The 'little pigtail' at 6:37 was a FREAKIN' NIGHTMARE! Getting it apart was easy. Putting it back together was near impossible. No room to get my hands or fingers in there. The whole job was a frustration of alignment when putting things back together. I think it would have been easier if I had removed the steering wheel, but I didn't want to mess with it. If I ever have to replace this stalk again, I will gladly pay someone to do it.
I was ok with the high beams coming on, I would just simply hold right turn signal slightly as to not cause the high beams to come on. My cruise control just went out as well, time to replace. I gotta have my cruise control. Great video, I appreciate it.
WOW I'm impressed how simple and easy you made that be. I've seen a lot of videos and this is one of the best I've come across, not only with the step by step but you also show us the tools we will need and give us the links to get replacements for some of us that tend to break stuff 🤔🤔👀👀😁😁 Thanks again!! It helped tremendously!💪🎉🎉🎉💪
Alright man just replaced mine finally had the part just super busy with other work on the truck and I also appreciate the link to the new plastic cause mine did break a little bit it's 15 years old so it's all good but awesome process all the way through thank you again
Same thing my 04 Tahoe, I was delaying the replacement of my multifunction switch, because I heard the steering wheel had to come off. Now i can go ahead and tackle this project..
Bro great video thanks for the help. I laughed out loud though when you said "put stearing wheel in lowest position" then raised it all the way up and tried to get it off. Clean edit though to when wheel is lowest.
Thanks very much. I have a 2005 Tahoe with this exact issue. Nice to see 190k+ on this one I have 180K+ miles and considering a newer vehicle but the Tahoe still runs great.
Thanks for this vid. My 2003 Silverado 2500HD did same thing. Brights go on when using turn signal. Similarly, I changed out the lever and problem solved. I also mention that there were no bolts in the steering wheel shroud. I'm original owner. Came from factory without those bolts. The bolts aren't needed.
This is awesome 👏- thank you! My 2007 97x just started to display the same symptoms. I was hoping it maybe just dirty contacts but it’s better to just replace the switch.
Quick tip. If you use the tip and the wrench put some tap on it to prevent the tip from going back. You won’t have to hold the tip with your finger and it will make it a lot easier and faster.
Thanks for video and link to buy a switch with cruise control $88.78 which was half the price of one they sale at auto zone, and then I saw one for $49.88 so I bought it. I installed it and it failed, right signal would at times not work, so now I ordered the $88.00 one as suggested in the link above. The bottom cover bezel is not held together by any kind of screws, I know this because I'm the original owner of my 2004 Silverado, and this problem started a few years ago, it now has 282k
FYI if you don't have cruise control just replace the stalk with a cruise control one and shazam, you now have cruise. The pigtail that he mentions is for the cruise, the connector is just sitting there waiting for a mate :-). I have a WT model so no options and cruise was the one I missed the most.
Alot of pre 2007 models are drive by cable like chevy express you need a cruise controo throttle body and vacuum actuator with a second cable. Your thinking of drive by wire
I have an 02' Blazer ZR2 and the flashers or turn signal works, cruise control works, but the wipers have a mind of their own. I can turn the wipers on & back off, then sometimes they stop, but mostly they keep wiping for about 12 more wipes before stopping.
Same problem!! Almost got shot because I brighted a crazy person when turning right. I removed my high beam fuse for now. Now it goes to bright and the lights turn off!! Hope to take this apart tomorrow. Thanks!
Thank you. I don't have the high beam problem but I hear a grinding noise when I use my right turn signal and it'll cut off. I have an '03 Yukon. Wish me luck 🤞🏼
Thank you so much Aaron - My cruise stopped working but both of my turn signals work. So when it is time to change it for a new one than I will be able to replace it myself!!! I already changed out the fuse for cruise so in halfway there. Thank Again! Smiles ~ Debra 082820
thank you for taking the time to post this extreemly helpful instructional video. I am recieveing my new part tomorrow and this will be a huge help in its replacement!!
You probably dont care but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Joshua Idris Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Used T25 with quarter inch socket with extension and got that bolt out by turning steering wheel using the bottom of wheel could reach it little angle but it works try it saves time GOD BLESS 🙏
The Wrench and Torx bit is not necessary. There is a mark in the center of the horn plate. Turn the steering left till that mark lines up with screw. Then you can use normal torx. Your saving 10-15 not taking off the steering wheel. This will take seconds with cordless impact. Screws underneath should be reverse torx. That’s why so many break them.
I HAVE A 03 GM 2500HD. It pulls a landscaping trailer, sometimes when I turn the right turn signal on the flashers come on? NOT all the time. Thank you Chris Jones
Great video. Thank you. Worked exactly as you described! Mine was also missing the two bottom bolts holding the bottom cover on. Does anybody know what bolts they were?
The wiring in this video is totally different than my 2001 GMC truck. Everything detaches from the wiring panel on the firewall, not the switch assembly itself. Oh, and for future references, you can just turn the steering wheel to access that bottom T-25 screw, as opposed to using a T-25 bit/wrench combo.
So I had the same exact issue when I replaced the signal switch everything worked except the cruise control everything functioned before except like what you were saying the high beams came on on the right hand signal so when I replaced everything worked perfectly okay except for the cruise control now what's the issue on that
Nice video. Helped me tremendously. However I still have a problem you might have an idea about. I've searched all the realms and nobody has had the same issue. I replaced my multi function switch and fixed my high beam coming on when using the right turn signal. Very common issue. But right before I replaced the switch I had another issue I thought was related to the switch... Every right turn signal bulb is lit and stuck on. Even when the key is off. Not blinking but constantly lit. Pulled fuse for rt signal and still getting 12v to every socket. Including the tow mirror led arrow. Even with all the bulbs out it's still lit up. Even on the dash. And keep getting "turn signal on" message. 2003 Yukon XL 1500
Craigslist510 you can order just the hazard for around $7 (you need to take out torques screws on the left) but I advise to just change the entire switch.

Guess I should've done that before I pulled the battery.... lol
Awesome!

Im back today, couldnt remember the size on the screws. I saw the same video you mentioned. Not helpful.
Thanks for the video just saved myself $50 from not having to take the truck to the mechanic and to anyone reading these comments who plans to do this his trick with the wrench works but I used a T25 Allen key which made life very easy

Well done! Nice to see things explained well without a lot of unnecessary commentary!
Thanks for the video! I just bought at ‘06 GMC Sierra and drove it at night for the first time. Turned right, high beams came on. I laughed because I knew this was a problem with these year models.

I just bought a used pickup and this video finally explained why my high beams were turning on. Thanks this was helpful
This video helped me a lot. Thanks. I have one turn signal not working correctly. After confirming the bulbs were good I was sure it was the flasher but after watching this video I'm convinced its the turn signal switch.
Same here, right turn signal doesn't seem to want to work 90% of the time. Gonna swap mine out this weekend!
Did it work I’m at the same spot with my 2005 2500 Chevy?
Good video: I change mine out because when running my cruise control. It would shut off if I change lanes with my signal light on. Hit my signal any at all would shut my cruise off. This change out did fix it.

I need to replace mine. I thought $170 for the part was steep.

It gets annoying after while because then you have to hold it so they don’t come on randomly at night

Dealing with this problem on my 2006 Trailblazer, going to change it soon. Appreciate you in advance!
The best video ever thank you the hardest part was snapping on the two cover parts around the steering wheel
Bro great video thanks for the help. I laughed out loud though when you said "put stearing wheel in lowest position" then raised it all the way up and tried to get it off. Clean edit though to when wheel is lowest.
Out of the 5 videos yours was the best to do. Thank ypu.
thank you for the info. the mechanic wanted 85.00 to do the job. my son and i did it in 30min. and at no cost.
I’m glad to hear! I bet that’s a good feeling
My 2004 Suburban just started doing this. Super helpful video, thank you so much my friend.
Awesome! Thanks for the support!
Hey How Much Those The Sinal Hand Cost...Cuz My 2003 Avalanche Its Turning My High Lights On When A Turn My Sinal On
Thanks very much. I have a 2005 Tahoe with this exact issue. Nice to see 190k+ on this one I have 180K+ miles and considering a newer vehicle but the Tahoe still runs great.

Very strange!
Looks like a pretty simple fix. I have to replace mine on a 2004 Tahoe. The mechanic wants 350 bucks plus parts to do this job.
Thanks sir, I have the same problem. I was skeptical of doing it, but you made it so simple. Thanks again and God bless
Explained perfectly,I finished in 20 min
This is awesome 👏- thank you! My 2007 97x just started to display the same symptoms. I was hoping it maybe just dirty contacts but it’s better to just replace the switch.
Quick, simple and easy explanation. Definitely dumbed it down for me great video!
Thanks! I had the high beam issue. 2008 burb. Loved the no steering wheel removal trick.
Same problem with my 2006 GMC Yukon. Thanks for explaining everything and saving me work. Good job bro.

Just finished replacing this switch assembly on my 2005 Silverado. This video was to the point and a great help. Thanks!
Nice vid! Exact same problem....cant wait to fix it so people dont think im flashing
Excellent how-to video! I have been dealing with this issue for a long time.
yo thank you my 06 envoy started doing this and i been looking for a way to fix this you are a lite saver
Thank you. I don't have the high beam problem but I hear a grinding noise when I use my right turn signal and it'll cut off. I have an '03 Yukon. Wish me luck 🤞🏼

Going to be replacing one on my 05 Denali this weekend, Great video bud Thank you.

@Zion Remy no problem =)
Thank you for this. I need to replace mine also. Got the same problem with the high beam
Same issue as me on my 03 trailblazer! Crazy! thanks for the video it is very helpful to see what I'm getting myself into! 🥂
Used T25 with quarter inch socket with extension and got that bolt out by turning steering wheel using the bottom of wheel could reach it little angle but it works try it saves time GOD BLESS 🙏
You're awesome bro. I feel I can do this now without a problem. Thanks
This Video definitely helped out thank you. This is what my truck is doing thank you for the educational video and straight to the point. Thank you

I'm looking for the same replacement in a chevrolet astro. thanks for the video it will help for sure
Thank you simple straight forward video
Much appreciated! You made it simple and straight forward. 🙂👍
Thank you. A well made and clear to understand video.
Right on. Good tips on here. I will be doing that
Thanks a lot this video might’ve saved me some money 😅
Tks aaron hines money saver i just did mine on a 2007 gmc sierra
Great video. Thank you. Worked exactly as you described!
Mine was also missing the two bottom bolts holding the bottom cover on. Does anybody know what bolts they were?
Thanks dude! That was super helpful!
1:13 brezzel...
My truck Is having same exact issues everytime I turn right single it turn high beam on now I'm gonna order a new switch thanks
Same problem with mine. Great step by step video. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Helped a bunch
Great video! Nicely done and spot on information. 🙏
Great video beginning to end 🤙🏾
Thanks. Finally got that fixed with your help.
this guy is great
thank you for this video have the exact same problem
Thanks for the video having the same issue this will be an easy fix

Good vid bro you explain well and show everything good for ppl that might be hard to do a job like this. It helped me out a lot thanks
Great video, it was a big help.
I'm having a problem with my turn signals not coming on at all can my turn signal switch cause that
Yes my trail blazer would while starting the truck make my washer fluid and wipers come on thanks 😊.
Great ‘how to’. Thanks!
Great job my friend .!!! I have the same problem on my 04 Silverado
Had the high beam problem. Now they won’t come on when I push forward. Could this be the relay?? Help?
Thank you for making this video, i have the same problem
just a quick correction, the turn signal module is not the same after 2003, only 2000 to 2002 share this same module (tahoes only)
Had the same issue... Thank You!!

Tnx saved me a lot of work, great job explaining and showing the process and causes.
So I had the same exact issue when I replaced the signal switch everything worked except the cruise control everything functioned before except like what you were saying the high beams came on on the right hand signal so when I replaced everything worked perfectly okay except for the cruise control now what's the issue on that
Awesome thx for this video help me a lot👍
And keep getting "turn signal on" message. 2003 Yukon XL 1500
my bright lights just started coming on with right blinker on!!
Same problem I'm having thank you so much.
hope this helps me, my 01 tahoe's hazards never want to turn off once i turn them on!
It will is a one pc switch so you are replacing with a new one
Craigslist510 you can order just the hazard for around $7 (you need to take out torques screws on the left) but I advise to just change the entire switch.
Very helpful
