This is a great walk through and came in handy when I did the repair. The only thing I wish they included was the torque settings for the steering wheel nut. I had to break out the Chitons to find it was 30ft pound. Still a great video.

Fix the title, this is for replacing the turn signal switch for a 1988-1994. There's way more to deal with 1995-2000. Dashboards were changed, airbags were added, airbag and horn cover were screwed on from the back side of the steering wheel(not sure what the inside of the steering wheel looks like). I have the same issue with 1A Auto when they do certain videos for these trucks too.

Excellent video that helped me through this repair. I really liked the vidio quality, and the fact you focused on the repair at hand. Two things though. The orientation plastic part that activates the high beams switches after you show how to put it in (originally upside down at 10:12) and when you finish putting it in (at 10:38). Also, the way you grab onto the steering wheel tilt adjustment lever with pliers leaving marks on it made me cringe.

This is a great video. Save yourselfs some time and follow the first steps. Insead breaking the column down to the ignition, just get to the blinker switch, depin the old plug and take string to the wires and pull. Then depin the new one. Tape to the string and pull back down, and you are done. Then follow the video to put everything back together. I just did this job. It's not hard.

Thanks for such a detailed video, you sure make it look easy!! On my 88 K1500, I have already had steering column torn apart to tighten up the column slop (loose bolts). Now, with everything back together, I finally have the replacement turn signal stalk (cruise wasn't working). **Supposedly** , it's possible to just twist/pull the old stalk out, cut cruise wire, and use that as fish line, to pull new cruise wire down through column. I think I can handle that, and reconnect it. But, I'm concerned about reinstalling the new stalk. I really don't have a good grasp on what has to fit where (ie, to assure dimmer rod action)...... Can you offer any tips, or blow apart diagrams/pics etc? Im being a wimp, not wanting to start something and make a mess....

Be aware he takes apart more than necessary which resulted in me breaking the little plastic peace with the copper colored two pieces of metal. The ignition did not need taken out either, I’m currently unsure that it’s back in properly. Wish I wouldn’t have followed this so closely as it’s caused me larger problems than the turn signal at this ooint

It's a heck of allot easier to de-pin the connector then trying to drag that gigantic plastic aircraft carrier through the tiny slot allotted for those wires. A simple small pick will un-clip each wire from the connector. Tape the ends in a tight and flat configuration. Feed the wires through, then re-insert the wires into the connector. You do not need to break it down anymore then that. Of course you will write down the color order before doing so.
