I cannot take an article seriously that says "Clark hasn't been that good," when she is breaking franchise, league, and rookie records. The bias against guards is crazy. Caitlin is a well-rounded player. To get a triple double as a rookie, to be consistently putting up her points, rebounds, and assists, and being in the top 2 for assists in the league, in the top 3 for 3-pointers and creating so many shots for her teammates, is incredible. If I'm not mistaken also has the most rebounds as a guard in the league, all the people above her in averages for rebounds are bigs, playing as forwards and centers.

No one averages like 1.3 assists per game and has an even worse assist/turnover ratio than Clark does 😭 she shoots layups and rebounds missed layups and doesn’t pass, Clark makes the whole team better while shooting when being guarded by the other teams best defender, full court pressed, and usually double teamed after half court

The Ben Daniel Podcast just dropped a video today that was very eye opening, showed Caitlin's rookie stats are not only the best WNBA Rookie stats but, ONLY 2 NBA players have had similar stats...ONLY 2 NBA PLAYERS EVER (in their rookie season).
To be fair, there are only 18 NBA players with similar stats as Angel...and that's not terrible either.

Doubles are nothing to Clark , she flirts w the triple double almost every game. Her assists are 7.4 per game now and over 9.5 in her last 8 games. This isn’t a real discussion.
There have been 4,608 double doubles in WNBA history. Five yesterday alone (3 more yesterday were short by 1 rebound) in just 4 games. Why is this double double streak a thing? Hasn't been done before primarily because nobody cared about it enough to put unilateral focus on it as a tool to gain hype. Conversely there have only been 38 triple doubles in WNBA history. One is rare, the other done every day usually 1 or more in each game.
Based on that metric one triple double occurs per every 131 double doubles. So Angel needs 120 more doubles to catch Clark’s triple double in value. NBA teams don’t even track doubles that is how common they are. A common stat for a common player. Not a generational one. Sorry.

On a side note Clark should have two triple doubles this season, but doesn't for teammate/coach related reasons. Early in the game Smith, who is all about her stats, took a rebound out of Clark's hands. Last few minutes of game Sides pulled Clark for "defensive purposes", and put in Wallace who grabbed 2 rebounds. Clark ended up a rebound short of the triple double.
I do expect triple doubles will become more common for her now that her teammates and coach and realizing that it is in their best interests to have Clark get the rebound, run up court and feed the runners.
Add one more thing the article that says Caitlin is only building on the “WNBA popularity that they’ve been slowly building over the last few years” is a joke, how many other players have played in a sold out arena this year that Caitlin wasn’t in? How many players has the visiting team had to change to a larger venue because they were coming to town? The answer to both questions is 0. Clark games are averaging 17000 attendance and all TV broadcast have been over 1 million viewers. Rest of the WNBA peaks at like 10k attendance and 450k viewers.

Coaches do not coach for stats. Players play to win, not for stats. It was the right call by Sides. In fact, she had done the same earlier in the season, subbing for CC on the defensive end, in a close game, knowing a timeout will be called and CC would be brought back in when they get the ball back.
Have you ever seen an NFL player take a knee right before the end endzone, instead of getting the easy touchdown, because its safer to run out the clock than give the ball back to the other team?

Rookie of the Year. rebound: catching the ball off the backboard (or miss), if it didn't go through the basket -- worth noticing, since it can turn into another attempt at a basket (Offensive Rebound) or a race to the other basket (Defensive Rebound -- what CC works with, since you can catch the other team unprepared. assist: a pass to a teammate, who scores with the ball. turnover: losing possession of the ball for your team, by passing carelessly, or getting blitzed (swarmed by the defenders), or the receiver losing control over the ball. coach Sides: a completely incompetent coach, whose team (3rd worst in the WNBA) drafted the #1 draft pick (Caitlin Clark, the POTY for the previous two years, when she got her okay team (Iowa Hawkeyes) to the final playoffs -- and then didn't even let her play her own style until a week or two ago. Aaliyah Boston: #1 draft pick last year, and apparently the first Indiana player to actually work productively with CC.

I'm surprised the media even had to ask why CC was on the bench during the defensive plays, because the announcers of the previous game knew exactly why. What do you think CC wants more? If Angel Reese wins it's a pity prize if she gets it without earning it. IDK why we're acting like the season is already over and this race is over. Clark is about to Cook in the second half of the season. She's had a double double in 4 of the last 5 games, 3 in a row right now and has flirted with (or had) a triple double in those contests. The most consecutive point/assist double doubles in WNBA history (not just rookies) is 6 games and I would not be surprised if she breaks that. I also wouldn't be surprised if she has 2-3 more triple doubles. The Fever are going to make the playoffs, and have already proven they can complete with the better teams.
plus, coach Sides seems to have FINALLY gotten out of her way, and her teammates'.
It's great to see Caitlin Clark's remarkable performance in the WNBA. Her ability to achieve a triple-double as a rookie is impressive. Her skills and positive attitude make her a valuable asset to her team. Christie Sides' recognition of her as the rookie of the year speaks volumes about her impact on the league. Keep an eye on her - she's definitely one to watch!
They had already decided at the beginning of the year. Doesn't matter what CC does they don't want her to win. The "W" is an embarrassment to all of sports and common sense. Let them keep their boring ass brand of basketball. I'll continue to watch the interesting games and nothing else. And I'm not saying Reese doesn't deserve to be in the conversation. I have played, coached basketball and Angel Reese is the closest player to point shaving as I have seen without doing it. She doesn't point shave because she puts wagers down on games and has an effect on the outcome so she can win her bet. She misses layups under the basket so she can get rebounds to pad her rebound numbers. Look at that Lynx game where she had what 3 missed opportunities, rebounded every missed opportunity before scoring. Something isn't correct with that picture and those that don't take their rose colored glasses off and actually watch her play and start to realize her approach to the game actually is, shouldn't be voting or making opinions on national TV to try and persuade those that actually do the voting.

CC is shooting 51% from 2 at the point guard position, Reese is shooting 42% from 2 at the PF position. Advanced numbers are super skewed because CC's turnover make her look like a net negative when the offense runs through her. Reese's advanced numbers are skewed because offensive rebounds are valued a lot more than misses.
Actually 8-ft and in Clark is over 80%. 95% of Reese's shots are in that range so Clark is a far better shooter.

CC- 22 games, 761 Mins played. Touches the ball on 99.9% of Every offensive Possession. Scoring, Assisting, and Rebounding. Is the General on the floor even tho shes on strict orders not to take over a game. Shes been sat in the 4th qt most of her games for zero reason. Plays against both her teammates and opponents. And is constantly double, even triple teamed.
AR- 20 games, 629 Mins played. Touches the ball 40% less than CC. Sits down low most of the time. Misses more shots than CC gives away Possession in a game. Is one of the larger players and only sees one on one.
Every stat line (wnba, espn, the score) all show CC leads way ahead of AR. Then count all the other issues CC deals with said above, factually proves she is ROTY with no contest as of today. Unless CC falls off a cliff, she should win it hands down and if she doesn’t, racism and bigotry wins outright

It’s not close, the WNBA wants Reese for ROTY so AR gets it with her record # of double doubles. Sides allowed CC to play her game last game most likely because it was on a major network and would be too obvious to shackle CC as the world watched. The sky are currently on pace to have a worst season than last year when they made the playoffs while the Fever are on target to have a better one and finally qualify to the playoffs. if you're not watching the games and just looking at the stats, yeah it's a close race between Caitlin and Angel. The reality is teams are full court pressing Caitlin for 40 minutes, trapping her and double and triple teaming her, the whole gameplan is to take the ball out of her hands. Therefore she is handicapped and can't score 30 points per game like in college. Her team can't catch passes and this adds to her turnover count, the three pointers she takes have a high degree of difficulty and are often heavily contested and she still makes them.
CC is ROTY purely based on how many people are coming to see her and WNBA games…

There 18 more games this season in the WNBA. 14 of those will be after the Olympic break when Caitlin finally gets a chance to rest and recuperate. Caitlin, as a rookie, runs an entire offense. Angel Reese basically gets her stats for jumping up and down in the same spot. At the end of the season, I still don't think this will be any kind of race at all.
I do agree, IF there is some kind of slant against guards getting ROTY. Clark's the reason why I started watching the WNBA, .. but that's just me.
Some long time ago, a local college had not 1, .. BUT 2 great guards, .. as I recall of similar speed, and creativity. What fun, to watch.
Those fast break aways, to the basket .. with Clark's passing .. even IF Boston, Mitchell, etc. are only retaining their excellent abilities, being fed by Clark .. they are to be going to the basket, with an extra 1/2 step, that they probably wouldn't have, otherwise. And I would think that they are going to more inspired, too .. with a guard like Clark.
One last thing, .. this kind of heightened offense, is going to take more out of the opposing team. There's no stat on how effectively, you wear down your opponents.

There are many reasons for voting for ROTY, but face it, Clark is the only reason that most of the current fans of the WNBA even know anything about the WNBA. That makes her more valuable than any other rookie or veteran.
Last I checked, rebounding your own shot is still a rebound. But for the sake of argument, let’s take away all those rebounds. On average, Angel Reese gets 1.6 rebounds per game off her own missed shots. Subtract that from her average of 11.9 rebounds per game, and she still averages 10.3 rebounds. So yes. She’d still be averaging a double-double even if you took away all of the rebounds she gets off of her own missed shots. Do you have any other stūpıd questions?

The WNBA does not get the type of game AR plays is not going to put people in the seats and not people looking at their TV sets to see someone jumping around the baskets to catch her missed buckets and layups. I know I won’t be and I am pretty sure I won’t be the only one. To not be able to recognize that the driving force between the All Star voting, The record audiences in arenas and the record setting audiences on TV is CC. The WNBA records in popularity are due to only one player called CC they are not the result of some bogus marketing campaign orchestrated by the WNBA. If that was true there would be record audiences and viewership across the league. Right now it is easy follow where CC plays and you will know where was the audience record and the record viewership. So if it was the result of a marketing campaign it would not be following one player.
I think it would actually be good to get also snubbed from the ROTY award for Caitlin Clark, because she will have another chip on her shoulder and go beastmode in her second season.

I think she’s seen how her team has gravitated towards her and knows she has a special situation in Indiana and could potentially be a title contender by her 3rd year. In addition to her stats., she has revitalized the sport and brought it to the national forefront. This is something the W could not accomplish in the last 26 yrs. In the past several months she has dragged the W into the spotlight and created an exciting game that the fans want to come and see. I think this should factor in her MVP decision. The V stands for value. She has been of phenomenal, incredible, etc. value to the league!
Mick you also thought she wouldn't be on the All Star Team. CC will win the ROTY in a landslide and nothing will change that unless CC just stops playing. At some point when the Sky become relevant teams will start to play Angel Reese defensively but right now she just isn't important enough to defend.
ROTY is easily CC. Ratings, attendance,and overall interest makes CC not just ROTY, but the MVP. Maybe not the best player, but still, baseball is a business and CC makes everyone more money than any other player.

No, it is not close - that is you giving in to what they want you to think. But let them choose the one who stands under the basket and shoots two feet away. Clark will simply embarrass them again when she easily dominates the stats after they give the award to who should be #2. I absolutely guarantee you this won’t be Clark’s only triple double, she’d have two now if she wasn’t pulled from the mercury game. And she will have more this season. This is why Clark doesn’t whine she should be rookie of the year like Reese does - one knows they are good as does everyone else, the other needs to convince you she is good.
Looking at the stats, it shows that Caitlyn Clark is a better player. Based on all stats and Angel Reese has an average of 12 rebounds and an average of 14 points that means that she get 7 basket a game. So, on average she will get one basket per every 2 rebounds except for 2 basket where it take one rebounds. Does that make any sense when a playmaker is contributing at minimum of 30 points a game with her assist and pts made.
These experts need to open their eyes and see the game is changing and then look at who is actual contributing to their team the most as a rookie.
Did you watch her game. Nobody even trying to get the rebounds until she got her ten rebounds. Someone did a play by play on Reese’s rebounds and nobody even tried to get a rebound until she got her double double.
