    If she had given the spot to CC by herself, she would have been remember as a heroine for Women's basketball, for making the game bigger. But she preferred to have a one more medal on the bench. How petty these women are.

    Diana Taurasi felt she needed to break Sue Birds record.
    CC had the opportunity to break Sue Birds asst record in the All-Star game but opted to stay off the court cause Arike Ogunbowale was on fire and CC wanted her to stay in. Taurasi is about her first and CC is about team first.

    I think Taurasi missed a great opportunity to actually burnish her legacy, not merely as an athlete, but as a person. Can you imagine the reaction if she had thanked the committee, but said she was giving up her spot for a younger, upcoming star? She would instantly go from being hated by millions of CC fans to being loved by them. And what would be the better legacy: a patently undeserved sixth gold medal she got by sitting on the bench, or 5 gold medals and praise for a selfless, classy act that helped promote women's basketball? (And it could be very lucrative, too. Ad agencies would be offering her plenty to do "passing of the torch" commercials with Clark.)

  • @yizudien1696
    @yizudien1696 28 дней назад +4

    Of course she has destroyed her legacy. She had an opportunity to rewrite history here and been the guide to these new kids coming in. Instead it is the same old Petty DT we all know. I was on the olympics because I won 3 college championships.... Really what is more impressive being second to Sue bird and having 10 or more WNBA players or Clark going to the dance with the team on her back hitting all of the biggest shots?
    Then we get in and establish a team that isn't the best players in the world, ride the pine for 2 games and your team wins the gold by 1 pt when it should have been a blow out. Oh and you got spanked in the game against the all stars, a game that could have easily been a 20-30 pt blow out. Most of this team won't be in the league for the next damn olympics, you didn't pass the torch, you didn't help the new group succeed, you selfishly went after a participation trophy that will have an * for the rest of time. If clark win's five they will say yea at least she was a major factor in all five. Never mind she blew one of the biggest shots at growing the game. Why? They could have given her a coaching spot, she could have been an adviser to the team and traveled out there, there were a lot of things that could have been done. No, not for old DT the cheapshot artist, dirty player, self centered individual who is one of the greatest if not the greatest just ask her. Old DT could have went out like Kobe, or Lebron, or Even MJ (Started mentoring younger talent), instead she will be the one in 10-15 years holding a mic, wrinkled and gray, talking about how she did something prior to asking the player a question for what ever network has the league.
    It is going to be up to Reese and Clark to grow the game. Somewhere in the world is a little girl watching clark and curry, who will practice the step back and shots like steph has, that will come in and be the MJ to Reese and Clark. Clark will pass the torch and build the game, DT will be like Wilt , on the outside looking in.

    DT’s fall from grace is a classic Greek tragedy of her own making due to SELFISHNESS and GREED. She wanted to be the first player, male or female, to win 6 Olympic basketball golds. By ensuring the exclusion of Caitlin Clark or other rookies from the 2024 Olympics, she also ensured that nobody will tie or break her record until at least 2044, or even beyond as long as no rookie gets selected for the Olympic team in the future.

  • @amyk6319
    @amyk6319 28 дней назад +5

    Taurasi's legacy is not destroyed, but it is tarnished. Taurasi has benefited over the year of her career from going to UConn, WNBA politics & her seniority. Though we all know she was on the Olympic team her rookie year because of Geno, when Taurasi talked about it she actually said, "After I won 3 NCAA championships." As if she won 3 NCAA championships all by herself & it was not because she was recruited by the top team, UConn, along with multiple future WNBA stars.
    And she was playing very well this year. If she wouldn't have gotten greedy for that 6th gold medal, she could have played out the year & been considered a great player when she retired, even by the new fans. But her need to be on the Olympic team, yet again, just so she could say she have 6 gold medals, has just put a glaring spotlight on the favoritism that has benefitted her career over the years. So now it is tarnished.

    DIABOLICALLY CALCULATED MOVE: Diana Taurasi was also a 22-year old WNBA Rookie straight out of college, just like Caitlin Clark now, when she first made her USA Olympic Women's Basketball Team debut in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
    DT, Olympic Team USA Women's Basketball Selection Committee, and the Team USA Women's Basketball Headcoach Cheryl Reeve, made sure that Caitlyn Clark would NOT be able to touch DT's Olympic Games appearance or winning gold record.
    Due to Caitlin Clark's 2024 Paris Olympic SNUB, she now needs to be 46 y/o and actively playing, in order to just tie DT's Olympic games and gold record! What an ABYSMAL ATROCITY, all in the name of jealousy, envy, ego, and pettiness! Shame on them!
    DT might have beat Sue Bird’s Olympic game and gold record, and mostly likely stopped Caitlin Clark from tying her record but gold does not always equal respect. Sorry, but not sorry, DT is NOT my G.O.A.T.
    Diana Taurasi has participated in 6 Olympic Games and won 6 Olympic Games
    1. 2004 Athens Olympics: 22 y/o - GOLD
    2. 2008 Beijing Olympics: 26 y/o - GOLD

    5. 2020 Tokyo Olympics: 38 y/o - GOLD
    6. 2024 Paris Olympics: 42 y/o - GOLD
    Caitlin Clark's ages in her projected upcoming 6 Olympic Games:
    1. 2028: 26 y/o
    2. 2032: 30 y/0
    3. 2036: 34 y/o
    4. 2040: 38 y/o
    5. 2044: 42 y/o
    6. 2048: 46 y/o - In order to tie DT's Olympic Games Record.

They will probably never admit to this selfishness. France played with courage while team USA was flopping around incapable of getting the ball in the air near the basket. This was not a good team. Cheap politics ruined this free advertising for the WNBA to satisfy the little egos of the old so called elite players and coaches.

      She was instrumental in winning 5 gold medals. She probably shouldn’t have been on this team ahead of Caitlin, but this does zero for her overall career.

    I am one of the new fans. I always hated basketball. Hated it. But, I was inspired by Caitlin Clark in the lead up to March Madness and have enjoyed learning that there is actually strategy, plays, etc. to this game. To me, Diane Taurasi is the worn out hack who denied Caitlin Clark the opportunity which Taurasi herself had twenty years ago, that is, the chance to play in the Olympics as a rookie. To me, that stinks. That's all Diana Taurasi is to me. the worst of what a lousy league the WNBA was in the past. I know nothing about her play in the past; I do not give a damn what she did in the past. To me, she stinks. The sooner she gets out of the game entirely, the better. Pffffft.

      6 gold medals are insane if they are earned. Doing nothing to get one means absolutely nothing. A Olympic runner can’t go to the Olympics and not run a race and get a medal. A solo performer getting 6 gold medals is insane. But sitting on the bench and not burning a calorie doesn’t mean crap. And now everyone will remember her for her last irrelevant Olympics just as much as her great WNBA career. Kinda embarrassing.

      I think the situations are a little different. Taurasi was a starter, didn't perform despite multiple opportunities, and was benched. Tatum and Halliburton were given little opportunity to play and perform, which might say more about Coach Kerr who was calling the shots.

    • @SukiDhillon-zk5dg

      @@francesw.6774 she only took 12 shot attempts in 5 games cause the USA entire offense was getting the ball to Wilson and Stewart to take advantage of size mismatches. All 7 guards the USA had on there roster saw the number fall by more then half. Plum had 6 points per game Sabrina had 5 points per game. And both played less then 15 minutes per game when both had over 30 minutes in the WNBA.

      @francesw.6774 25 дней назад

      @@SukiDhillon-zk5dg I don't think anybody's legacy got ruined. In fact, I think the idea that they did is absurd. I do think Tatum and Haliburton's lack of impact had more to do with who coach Kerr decided to play and how he wanted to run the offense, while Taurasi's lack of impact had more to do with her ineffectiveness, but it is not a fair comparison, with Taurasi at age 42 and Tatum and Haliburton in their prime. Taurasi's basketball legacy has long been decided, and clearly she's one of the best female basketball players to ever play the game. I blame the selection committee for putting her on the team. There were better choices, and she didn't need it after already being on 5 Olympic teams and winning 5 golds.
