I salute your dedication on providing us updates shaun, Hands down to your amazing and very informative videos as always ❤ 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank youu
I’m so so happy for you when I saw the baby Billie and their variegation. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey.
Thank you it was a good experience 🥰
I was at the edge of my seat throughout the video hoping you get great variegation. So happy your efforts paid off! I've never seen such a detailed propagation with so many updates. Especially one for a v. Billiatiae. Thanks your awesome content Shaun!
Its like watching a horror movie with a twist happy ending no? Lol. Thank you
I would have been scared senseless to cut that up. Probably let it grow out some more. Thank you so much for your bravery and for providing excellent content with updates.
I was actually terrified to do it lol but it was also depressing watching green leaves after green
This is my favorite prop video so far. Love those variegated baby plants at the end 😄.
Thank you. It was very satisfying
This is my Top wishlist plant and seeing those highy variegated babies coming out of the bottom Part makes me really happy 😍
Haha yes its made me very happy too. Also now Ive got a nice sized large green plant
@@onlyplants im sooo jealous theyre soooo expensive in europe :o but one day i will own one of these :D my green billietiaes are getting taller and taller as well :3
@@aries_plants3048 Billetiae and atabapoense have dropped in price dramatically. I got a small billetiae in a 12cm pot for under 20. I hope spiritus sancti will be the same soon. Aroids grow too fast and are too easy to propagate to keep those high prices over a longer period.
My fave plant! Easy to grow and Ikeep 1 in moss, the other in aroid mix.both in plastic. BTW, the larger 1 grows very fast, the smaller, not too much yet. Thanks for showcasing this.
😀😀
Hi Sean, welcome back :) I took a break from your videos because I realized all the content about moving/purging/re-settling was giving me anxiety... I know it's my problem not yours, no worries. But I'm happy to be back, can't wait to see progress on your plants in the new place!
Thank you, welcome back 😀 theres a lot of rehabilitating and very healing episodes coming up.
the baby billies sure made this propagation super duper worth it! wow!
Yesss a very satisfying update kndeed hehe
@@onlyplants please update in the coming weeks or months about it's progress(even shorts video would be perfect hehe). it is such a wish list plant for me. yet it's 4 figure per leaf here. and the fear of it reverting made it feel like it's worth 5 figure per leaf 😅
and you are the first person I see with a baby version! 🤩
just wanted to say a big thank you to you, your videos have helped me and my plant journey so so much you explain everything so well ! my bad days are always better when an onlyplants vid comes out 😊
Whoaaaa thank you. I’m very happy to hear that. 🥰
@@onlyplants yay you replied 😂 hope youre having a good day/night !
Beautiful plant! I don’t have one to comment about the growth habit, but I enjoyed watching along while doing my watering
😀😀
So scary! Lol I love the way you talk to it while your chopping it. Really hope it works out.v🙏
I managed to get an amazing plant from this, but it took 3 years and 2 times propagation. You can check my recent instagram feed to see the latest baby! Its soo beautiful.
Yey!
Happy billie day!
Good job, Sean!
Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Your billie gives me hope. I have my own that I got, a small one that put out a leaf about 1.5 times the size of the ones before it and has shown no signs of putting out another in about a month now. I was worried i was doing something wrong and couldn't figure out what, but knowing that it took 2 years for yours to grow to that point and how rarely it puts out leaves has reassured me. I can't wait for mine to get as big as yours.
🥰🥰
you have a new subscriber! i love your energy hehe
Thank you 🥰
Congratulations on your successful propagations. So glad that the risk you took paid off.
Thank you 🥰
Oh the baby turned out beautiful 😍 🌱 I got nervous when your first update was after only a week, I thought you were gonna say they already had rotted lol.
Haha yes sometimes my propagations can go terribly wrong. Ye just never know what you will get until the very end lol.
Love love your video with updates..sooooo much fun to see your new growths💚🤗👋
Thank you 🥰
Well, sometimes you have to cut a lot in order to have varigation! You did well my friend! Although I admit ,I got scared watching you chop those tight nodes yet it ended pretty good at the end, the varigation looks stunning!! As for maintaining the varigation on the Billy, you have to give it intense light , morning or evening sunlight to keep the varigation constant, and a good specimen of course.
Thank youu. And yes they seem to respond to light!
Thanks for this video. I also have a tiny tissue cultured Variegated Billitiae, bought as a less than an inch , 2 leaves . it’s now got 5 leaves
Interesting… wonder how they will grow up to be. I am going to take on some tissue cultured plants just to see
I’m posting a short video today in my Channel on how it looks today . hope you can watch it. Thanks for your reply
@@onlyplants just posted a short video in my Channel. hope you can view it. there’s not much variegation though
To loosen up the roots from the sides, you can take an old dull knife you don't like in the kitchen and run it carefully around the inside edge. Then poke yer finger into the drain hole in the bottom to start the push.
Thank youu
Well done Shaun in getting the variegation back. I’m tempted to cut my monstera albo to see if I can get more variegation. Thank you again for this video. My wish list plant but too expensive here in NZ, might need to wait for a few years for price to go down. 😊
Its always a good idea to cut back for variegation. Fertilizing and preparing it 1-2 months before propagation helps a lot! Air layering is also very good idea with more expensive plants
I watched this video again, I’m thinking of buying a billitae, not the variegated, I realised I’m running out of room. 😅
😮 wonder how parent plant is doing now!! Thank you for awesome vid!!
I have a video to update the babies coming up soon.
@@onlyplants yay! Excited 😊
Hi ther, love your channel! You inspired me to buy a ssp. I did! Just received came in small plastic cup in a moss medium but is rooted looks well think seller is reputable source. Question should I repot it right away or weight (whatever reasons) please throw your wisdom!
I would not disturb it just yet. But if its in full moss keep in mind not to overwater it. Be light with watering when you do. These guys are quite prone to rot
Nice and satisfying video.😘
🙏🏽🙇🏻♂️
Love your videos and the updates in the same video! :)
Thank you 🥰🥰
I wish i had one! Very pretty.
🥰
Same!
Should I put mine on a moss pole? 23:16
I wish we can see the update on last cutting with verigation.
Another video is coming soon to show these variegated.
Is it true to all philo? My brother gifted me with a different variety and it is pretty slow a grower. Thanks for the tips on substrate. Though mine I did not bother changing the potting mix as I am scared it could be too sensitive and I don't want it to die on me. It's current soil is regular garden soil which my brother had in his garden. I'll check back your videos to see what I can do with it.
Every philo have different growth speed and propagation speed as well 😀
indoor / semi indoor enviroment really puts new challenge on the roots & watering, Now I even put my shot glass on use🥴
I have better luck indoor than outdoor actually… 🥲
@@onlyplants the force is strong with you
How to propagate lush billie same like it has 30 leafs do i need to remove soil or just cut above the soil coz theirs a lot climbing going up
You can probably turn it into many plants. Cut 2-3 leaves in each cutting and kinda do what I do. They do well with direct soil propagation but you can do water propagation too.
You're so funny Sean. You are so full of energy but the plants might get stressed with all the moving. So sad that some of the new sprouts on the parent plant got damaged. Anyways I guess the plants knows you well already and are acclimated to you. ✌️
🥰
if you have them climbing a pole, can you update please. i can't find any pics on Google showing them climbing a moss pole. thank you.
Wooh theres lots of nursery tours that I did where they were climbing… its very similar to a white princess etc
still my dream plant!
🥰🥰
Hey Shawn, i noticed your plant is growing so beautifully up up, what light does it get, mine (the not variegated one) is leaning a lot, producing long petioles, reaching for the light I guess ... it needs top light i think right ? Tnx for another great vid.
Yess they love top light and can turn rosette almost. Bright indirect
Hello I bought a top cut for $300 it should ship Monday but it has no roots or node any tips for rooting or growing until it produces a node to root? Should I do sphagnum or water?
Water for sure 😀
I was going through your old video, can you give me more updates on this plant, please?
There will be a video coming soon showing the updates (in this video I propagate it further to produce 3 variegated baby plants!)
I try propagation of my golden dragon I chop it narrowly it produce axillary buds and leaves but eventually, it got dry up and died.
Waiting for that video
Hi Sean. What is the sterialising liquid mix?
? I dont use liquid to sterilize. Usually rub activated charcoal powder onto the cut ends
Is that activated charcoal that you rub on to sterilise the cutting? I've seen people rubbing a white substance too, probably pesticide.
Yes activated charcoal. Others use rooting hormone sometimes
thats so cool keep up the great work@@
Thank you 🙌🏽
It's scary to watch you cut. Let us know after this turns out..I enjoy all your videos.
Dream plant ❤ gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous 😍😍😍
Thank you 🥰
Are you referring to Sean or the plant 😂😂😂❤❤
any update on those tiny billietiae full var
Oh yes Im actually filming a repotting for them. 3 plants in total. Waiting for growth updates!
Get a butter knife to move around the plant to help loosen it up without damaging the roots
That is a good advice
Sean, bagaimana kalau tiba2 dia menghitam dan gagal unfurl ( new leaf) ? Apakah terlalu banyak penyiraman atau bagaimana?
Could be too little or too much. Akar nya mungkin busuk atau kering mati. Harus di cek
What a massive, beautiful plant! I would not have the guts to prune it :)
I was forced to as it has turned green 🙈
But I was actually terrified cutting it up
I followed you a few months now. I also looked older videos. One question, what do you use to sterilize the cuttings?
I use activated charcoal 🙌🏽
@@onlyplants 🙏
Hi - are the prices in indonesia better ? In europe we pay about 600€ for one leave… hope prices come down soon 😉
Its around that price in Indonesia. Might be lower if you find farmers directly.
@@onlyplants thanks - maybe when I'm in asia for holidays I'll find mine - love your channel 👍
I do with coconut husk in self watering sistem.
Never fails
Interesting 😀😀
Yay!!!😅😊
Didn't you try in water the leaf cuttings without roots? 🤔
Wooh you mean the leaves without the main stem? They will not sprout a new plant. We will need to have a growing eye on a node to be a viable cutting.
@@onlyplants If that was mine, I could have put the leaves in a vase.. it seems has a long vase life. I enjoyed watching your video because it is very informative and you showed the details and every reason of your actions. I am practically learning everything.
By the way, I watched this video because this is a dream plant and I have one coming from the South Cotabato, Philippines. I am already excited to my first 6-leafer Bilitiae.
Please do an update on this.
There is one in the next video but a quick snippet. Dont miss it 😀
This klnd of plant cost almist half a million pesos here in the Philippines
Just see the conversion
This will take time to grow as 1 of the reason why its so expensive
Yeahh variegated plants take about 4-5 times slower to produce. With some chance of losing it from reversion or turning fully variegated.
How old is your var billietiae beofre it gets to that size? Thanks
About 2 years I think
Is this an old video released again ?
Nope this is brand new 😀
Mine gives me about two leaves per month. I dont consider it slow growing
Wooh you must have the right conditions/care
Watching this gave me so much anxiety! She's so gorgeous!!
I am filming another update. She is now 4 beautiful plants!
it reverted ?
Yes its reverted 😀
Nooooo !!😊
🙈🙈
Every time u cut her, I feel like a piece of me is hurting a little. I just love this plant so much I don’t own though.
Its beautiful that you have such compassionate soul. Giving life (such as births) take enormous pain and suffering. (Yes, plants can feel pain in ways we cannot describe yet) but the creation of new life is beautiful, and I daresay, the purpose of every living thing is to impart life for the next generation - stronger and more beautiful.
💚💚💚
❤️❤️❤️
Omg 😳 can’t
😀😀 the ending is so satisfying though
maybe the planting medium is too fertile so the varigates disappear and return to normal growth (green)__as far as I know, varigata plants for fertilization are limited so that the varigates are stable..💚💚
Its possible too, especially if the nitrogen is too high.
😍😍😍
🥰🥰🥰
Oh My!!!! I hated watching the cutting of this magnificent specimen....I have to ask, "What is reason?"
It turned green, lost all variegation 😀
I would have been scared to cut up the plant. It’s beautiful and expensive 😅
Lol I was actually terrified during the process
these guys are still $3,000 here in Australia...I don't have enough organs to sell...hahaha!!
lol 😅
Maybe the whole family’s organs… 😆
Yu watering to much i yhink !!😊
Haha yes i tend to overwater 🥹 its a bad habit that I cannot kick for years
Even if it's not true ,for me everything you say is the gospel truth .you are more beautiful than the billietae😊 ..don't blush again .
Haha thank you
next time just tap the excess water on the leaves with a paper towel. the paper towel will absorb the water
😀😀
don’t propagate it leave it alone
break the pot
Barely variegated 🤣🤣🤣
😆
