Following on from a video I made about a month ago I wanted to take the time to focus a little bit more in depth on one (two) of my favourite plants. The Philodendron billietiae is becoming a staple in the aroid collector world and I wanted to put a bit of info together about this plant.
I have both of these plants in a chunky (but not tooooo chunky) mix of bark, perlite, coconut coir and perlite and they are happy for the time being!
Your voice is so soothing and just ordered my billietiae..excited
Ah thanks for watching! Enjoy the billie - they're amazing! 🌱🌱
Who is looking at the plants? Those arms… 💪
I love how you only give out information that you're certain about and not everything you can find on the internet, like decided not to put a picture of the inflorescence. Unlike some who gives out misinformation in their video, yet still think it wasn't a big deal when they get criticised, and continue to do the same thing for their next video. Btw I'm loving all these frequent uploads!! Please don't stop!!
Ah thank you! Yes I’m not a botanist but I really do my best to be more or less certain about the information I share. I’m glad you appreciate it! 💚🌱
I want someone to look at me the way James looks at his variegated billietiae.
I want James to look at me the way he looks at billies 😂
I discovered your channel recently and have been enjoying your videos. I just ordered my billietiae and can't wait to receive it! Thanks for the great tips, I love your voice and accent which I find very soothing!
one very nice side effect of this quarantine situation is that you, my fav youtuber, is this active!!
Aw thank you!! Glad you’re enjoying - and you’ll see a lot of me over the next few weeks 😂😬🌱
GORGEOUS! And the plants aren't bad either...
Always worth a watch! Keep them coming!
Will do! Thanks for watching!! 🌱
I will get mine this friday, you are the greatest to publish this video now ! 🙃
Glad it was helpful!! 🌱
James ArmstrongW it was! It came from Indonesia and roots were in a bad condition. I had to cut some of them and put it in sphagnum. It looks well after traveling to Germany first and then to Poland.
It is a favourite leaf shape of mine and your info was really useful to know James as I had always imagined they were another one of those plants that I wouldn't be able to provide the right conditions for- thankyou!
I NEED one! Funnily (and sadly) enough, it's harder to get that (and other native species) here in Brazil because of laws that prohibit propagation for profit of protected species. Crazy.
That’s really interesting to know! Glad the species are being protected but n’amuse be frustrating for you! Thanks for watching! 🌱🌱
So gorgeous! Just bought one after seeing this video. Just wondering whether you'd advise I stake it to a moss pole right away to get larger leaves more quickly (it's slightly smaller than your variegated one), or should I wait until it's larger to try stake it? Also does it make a difference if I use a moss pole or just a bamboo stake?
I didn’t know that there was a variegated version. I have the standard version and it’s one of my favorites with almost 12” leaves. Now I’ll have to start shopping. Thanks.
Thank you for info. Love this! God bless you!
I just got mine. idk what stop me from getting it when it was cheaper last year.
Finally, as of today. with a huge price tag but i hope it’ll worth it
Haha love the ending! beautiful plant, I never really was into them but you made me think about it. its not taking over the top of my wishlist yet tho :) cant wait to see what else you put out! I've been editing my Hoya tour video for ages but the voiceover takes soooo long to do :S and I'm teaching yoga classes online every day to make some money. Hope you're doing well! x
On my wish list 😊
hope you're doin okay during this corona-thing and thank you for your video!! 🥰
Thank you! I’m doing ok - hope you’re staying safe and happy too! Thanks for watching 😍🌱
Hey 👋 I Hope you are doing okay that days. I have a question maybe you can help me since I saw that you got few philodendron billietiae. I bought I plant and it arrived with rootrot. Luckily, cutting of the roots was fine and it has a additional unrooted airial root. From your experiences: is there any promising propagation method? May you have some idea. That would be awesome ☺️
I really love mine I got it last year from Thailand and it has done very well. I have it under a grow light and I let it completely dry out before watering it. Well I guess I wait till the meter is in red so maybe it’s not completely dry. But anyways mine has pushed out two huge leaves so far. I think I got it in November
The variegated 🌱 though is 🔥.
I love those bilitaes...😍
Yours are so beautiful! I think it's much more expensive in US.
My Billietae keeps dropping leaves. They get yellow and eventually fall off. I don’t know why. I water it when ever the top soil is dry and it ihr in a lights spot with even a few hours of winter sun. I’ve moved it now and hope that things might change :(
They need to dry out 100% before watering...
Thanks for the video and info . I have one and they are great plants . Mine is slightly smaller than yours . Look after yourself .
Both your billietiaes look amazing! Haha I ordered a normal one from Indonesia (I did an unboxing on RUclips) but it didn't make it :( all the leaves dropped and it's in my greenhouse now reduced to a stump but I think the roots were quite rotten so not sure if it will survive at all :(
Does your normal billietiae really live in 20/30% ambient humidity right now?! My plants would hate me if I ever dropped it that low, so yours must be super super acclimatised and hardy!
Loved these care videos, keep them coming! :D
This channel went dormant 2yrs back..everything alright?
I now have a Billietiae! It's about the size of an American quarter; it's a tiny little tissue culture and I hope it does well. I'm so nervous it isn't going to make it. The poor dear is so tiny and fragile.
I got my philodendron billietiae plant 2 months ago with a small baby popping out the soil. However, 2 months have passed but the baby is a very slow grower. The leaf is still not out ☹ i don't know why. I put it indoors but near a window with a filtered light. Please help
humidity boi
Hi. Where sis you buy your variegated billietae and how much did you pay for it? :) thank you.
I didn’t know it’s name was of French origin 🤯 I knew 2 L’s made a Y sound, but didn’t know which language. I just got one in trade 😄 So excited!
ah there's a lot of information that isn't totally right in this video because it's a bit old - I talk about the correct pronunciation in more recent videos (Bill-y-ety-ay) And yes it was discovered by a French woman!
Oh, haha! I’ll keep an eye out for it 😆
This was recommended to me and I'mma just say this I clicked coz of the plants, stayed for the arms ( also how ironic that your name is Armstrong 😁)
I love your video send me more video about the plants of Spiritual Center
Where did you get the variegated version from pls?
well damn
Beautiful
Thank you! 🌱
😍
Is 85€ a good price for one with 3 leaves?
💚
💚
Is there such thing as a dwarf version of this? Bout to buy one lol
The correct pronunciation is Billie-et-tea-yay or Bee-yet-tea-yay (like Kanye), not Bill-it-tie. No one says it right though. So no worries! Gorgeous plants!
this is an old video! Very aware of the pronunciation now thanks! 🙌🌱
Bee-yet-tee-aye

Haha yes I remember seeing this! Definitely been pronouncing it differently from in this video since I saw this a few months ago.
i got mine too

need to work on the -iae bit a little more still.. 😉
Eres muy bello
You're way toooooo handsome.
Aw thank you!! 💚
@@JamesArmstrongPlants my pleasure, truly.
After reminding yourself so many times about the correct pronunciation, you kept saying it wrong :)
The discovered of this plant herself said this needs to be pronounced "billie-ye-ti-ye".
