Have you covered Eastern Orthodoxy before or spoken to an EO apologist ?

What's the use? Deity of Christ is common to all Christian faiths and not acceptable to Muslims, and even to many Christians.

@@hassanmirza2392 The EO of the Trinity is completley different to all other "branches/sects" of Christianity, if you could speak to an Orthodox speaker about monarchial trinitarianism and the essence energy distinction I'd be very interested in yoru comments on orthodoxy

To say it’s completely different is a stretch.

John Barton is an Anglican priest, and he accepts that Trinity is a later day doctrine. Deity of Christ was rejected by Jewish-Christians but was accepted by gentile Christians.

Early 200ce to 400ce gentile Christians rejected the Trinity as well. Eusebius and Athanasius of Anazarbus included. The history of the development of Christian doctrine of the trinity is not an easy history to follow. Most would not bother as the conclusion is rather striking. It is the best history of ancient civilisation. It is like watching one’s favourite movie.

This is correct, But the deity of Christ idea was there right from the beginning in 1st century AD, there were communities who were worshiping Christ as a lesser Deity, but not as part of a Trinity. This version prevailed over expressions of Christianity and Jewish-Christianity (Ebionites, Nazarenes, Hebrews) lost out by 4th century AD.

@@hassanmirza2392 yup. It’s not really known why they started worshipping Jesus as a lesser deity when he never told them to.

The Greek culture was already influencing Jewish thought, and the ideas such as transfiguration of a savior man-God, his death and resurrection, Logos and other syncretic Judeo-Greek ideas were already in the air around the time Jesus was there. The prime example of this is Philo's ideas, which were considered to be heretical by other Israelites.
Philo is in some sense the first Church Father, and his works were preserved by Christian. This sycretic Judeo-Greek culture and religion took over the Jewish-Christian religion by 4th century AD. Another example of this is Hellenic Synagogues with its depiction of prophets via icons. Christianity is in some sense continuation of Hellenic Judaism, and Rabbinic Judaism is continuation of Temple Judaism.

Wrong the ebionites believed that there were two powers in heaven, but that second angelic power was called “christ” and “possessed” The human jesus at the baptism. Rabbis and church fathers are the attestation for this.
It was the jewish christian followers, i dare to say from James, that said of Jesus, He was the divine Son of Man.
