I started praying every morning, and it was so helpful that I now pray in the evening, too. I found a free Orthodox prayer book online. I also pray the St. Michael prayer throughout the day when evil strikes or my mind starts to stray. I am very new and not officially Orthodox yet, but I look forward to praying the Jesus prayer while doing prostrations in the Orthodox church and hope to speak to an Orthodox father soon.
What you talking about? I once visited Prohor Pcinski, where he seemed to meditate under the rock, called "Isposnjak" or something like that, in the mountain above the Church. The Orthodox Church was building a cabin where people can come and visit and left some money there off course, but nevertheless , three people worked on the roof of the new build cabin of which two were very kind and simple people who greeted us and answered are curious questions but the other one who was arrogant and did not even greet us , turned out to be the priest. A very good example how much spiritual evolve he is. Anyway, after my hike partner, who led me there, found out that he was a priest, wanted to know why in the nearby village they removed the ancient stones that was the gate of the same old church, he answered with contemptuous tone "So you would ask, thats why!". We saw that there was no talking with the guy. A spiritual leader without humbleness is no spiritual at all, he can be leader though. Orthodox church, as any the other religious groups today, have so much power and act as if they are God themselves. If you read the new testament you can see that the priests who were against Jesus, behave the same as these religious leaders behave today. As Jesus said " ..they don't practice what they teach." Total misusing of power and manipulating the poor pious people, especially on the Balkans. But in front of the cameras, oh they are generous, and act holy. And the irony is, the person who meditated there , Prohor Pcinski, was a holy man, he went there to meditate. A thing some new age people do. I do not say that they are better or those are worst, and that all priests are corrupt, but open your eyes and do not trust priests who regurgitate words from scriptures.
When I was a new ager/occultist/tantric, nothing I ever did worked but I kept getting sick and I was always in and out of hospital. Before I went back to church I almost lost it because my conscience wouldn't let me live in peace. It got to the point where I would have a panic attack everyday at sunset, and the anti anxiety medication wouldn't work. I thank God that nothing I ever did worked and that I ended up getting sick and having mental health problems because that is what lead me back to Him. These days I have so much peace I don't even realise when it's sunset and I no longer feel like I'm being hunted. I have a lot of attacks from the enemy on my physical health but I rejoice because I know God is with me.

During Covid, I lost my job as a medical clinician and subsequently my home because I refused a certain jab. I became depressed and anxious and began to look at tarot readers online. Fortunately, I also prayed, eventually repented and through the help of my priest, once again placed my trust in God. Pre-Covid, I never thought that would have become a passion but through unceasing persecution and anxiety it did, so we always have to be on our guard.
I almost was fired , it took a year before they backed off. I was very lucky. I was depressed! So I can't imagine what you went through. Lord Have mercy . Sorry you had to go through that.
Mate I did the same. I refused jab, lost friends, went broke etc then I felt so desperate that I started thinking putting an end to it, you know. With help of friends of mine I started praying and once all of a sudden eveything went okey orthodoxy literally pulled me off the cliff and I have become devouted to God for the first time ever

I moved to a place after doctors hurt me. I couldn’t feel God after the doctors hurt me. Left me for dead. All I wanted was Bible to read while in isolation, healing. Heard/saw others around me go from New Age to Jesus. Heard my colleagues at work mock Jesus. Took note. I used to do yoga everyday. Sadly maybe you could have focused on your own emotional needs so you didn’t fully follow anything but the great mind God gave you and all of us. Don’t go from one extreme to the other. Find you, be compassionate, kind, and also don’t forget you can find God anywhere not just in a building. Practice those things that promote love and compassion.

As a kid , Yoga was my religion and Paramahansa Yogananda was the "master" that Mom, so I as a kid, followed. The Autobiography of A Yogi, Edgar Casey books, the Bagvad Ghita, and the Tibetan Book of The Dead were my spiritual books. I attended my first seance at 7 years old, could observe auras at around 9 and learned the Tarot when I was 11 years old. My next thing was the Ouija board. Mom said that I could learn. We were members of the Aquarian Foundation in the Self Realization Fellowship. I grew up a child of the occult. Fast forward, to 29 years old, when I began studying the Christian bible with Diciples of Jesus, and was baptized as a Diciple of Jesus. Over the years in Fellowship with Christians, I've determined that most Christians are not truly aware that there ARE elements or "entities" affecting things that are unseen to most, just like the invisible data that streams to the cell phones. The "unseen" is there. It's real. The Holy Scriptures given by the Lord God (YHWH) identifies them and provides the signs that Followers can observe to protect yourselves. The Word can arm us to both defend and prosecute war against those entities. Our battle is not with the flesh, unless it's our own. NEVER sway from that which is WRITTEN. The Apostle Peter warned us that the wolves entered in and after 2,000 years have become very good at perverting the Word to lead the unsuspecting astray. Avoid symbolism, and follow the WORD ONLY. Same here. God . Directly to God. If it is not Gods will and final say no Saint can save you. I’m orthodox Christian was raised like that but I have realized after researching and strong prayers that only God is the ultimate redeemer and savior. We can honor saints and respect but we should pray to God directly. I also speak from experience , I would pray directly to a saint and only came to understand that it’s by Gods permission a saint can intercede. It’s not the saint that gives the miracle. You should pray to your holy guardian Angel. We all have one assigned to us. Gives our angel permission to protect you from sin and harm. We have free will. Best reasoning Ive heard against yoga as Orthodox. It had to come down to the poses because many of the westernized, hip yoga classes at the beach do appear very stripped of any mention of the religious beliefs-other than vague comments or saying “namaste” at the end. But knowing that the poses are symbolically referring to demons puts the nail in the coffin for me. Thanks to the father for pointing that out.

I am a Bulgarian Orthodox , and once I went to a yoga class although I knew it is not recommended, so I decided instead of mantras and namaste and the meditating part , I will be saying small prayers... well now I actually understand that the positions themselves open the gates...which I didn't know before..Thank you, father!
Yoga is one of the worst modern age trends that exists. The origins are these "exercises" are worship of the Hindu gods through movement. It is like an intepretive dance to invoke their gods.
Then, never participate in any game which is included in the Olympic Games and never visit them. They were games which were dedicated to the 12 Gods of Olympus and were forbiden by the Christian Emperor Theodosius A', "the Great" in 393 A.D. Never visit a doctor who has given the Oath of Hipporcates. The Oath is pagan and is adressed to the pagan god of health, Asclepius. Stop teaching the Pythagorean Theorem at school. Pythagoras was a pagan initiate who taught that numbers were gods. The same applies to the 7-note scale invented by him. Choose some other Christian music scale if you can find. When I was leaving the prtnst world and becoming a convert to the Orthodox Church, I often thought of ' MY YOKE is easy, and MY BURDEN is light'. From the outside, the Orthodox Church can seem scary and intimidating, but, even as we take up our crosses, somehow HIS YOKE and BURDEN TRULY ARE LIGHT.. BTW, I am L/M my husband's phone, so the name you see isn't mine. I keep forgetting to say that.. but I especially want to do that when I make a personal comment.. I was raised Pentecostal and deconstructed into the new age. I’m evangelical now, but want to grow more in prayer and spiritual disciplines, which my tradition tends to be pretty dry in. So, I’m listening to things like this.

Start fasting, and you will understand that it is possible to lose all your lusts, wether it be a passion for anger or idolatry. Lust to sin turns to a desire to do good. Start fasting, see the change in youself, get baptized, join an Orthodox Church to help guide you on your path. The best recipe for a happy and healthy life. Also a great afterlife 😄
Id be really curious to hear the orthodox perspective on psychedelic tryptamines in specific. Theres a tremendous value behind these compounds wether medically or spiritually. For example, without them id still be suffering chronic migranes as i had my entire life, and have not in several years now, even without taking them consistently. But also, i wouldnt be here engaging with this curiosity towards orthodox christianity. Been a proud heathen my entire adult life, and my gods have served me better than ive served them if im being honest. But its almost as if that path lead me here in an unexpected roundabout way. I grew up around a protestant and catholic but secular world. Made christ seem utterly impotent and frankly corny to me, while the gods of my ancestors always embodied vitality and wisdom. I dont feel that same sense of cringe and disgust towards orthodoxy... its truly beautiful, and genuine.
In short. Psychedelics opened my mind so I remembered my childhood, that was too horrific to cope with, and still is. It led me, that for decades before was very negative against Christianity - to run to the Russian Orthodox Church. (I was 43) And I was Home. Baptized 6 months later, married 13 months after that. Before I had only bad relationships, open and hidden trauma. Like much else these plants and other medicines can be used in both good and bad ways. Therapeutic or as a drug to escape reality.

Just read the Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I was an Atheist for many years, searching through everything before I finally knuckled down at age 40 and found myself in the New Testament. I was born into an Orthodox Christian family although went down the road of everything else but Christianity. Atheism etc. Whichever Church you go to is irrelevant and the name you call your faith also. God comes to us us through different means. Also the Church of Christ is not an institution, it is the many millions and billions of souls doing good works through their inherent love of Christ and God. We are a temple of God's work whatever name we give to our faith. Don't look outside of what God has provided for you in your immediate environment. ❤

I started praying every morning, and it was so helpful that I now pray in the evening, too. I found a free Orthodox prayer book online. I also pray the St. Michael prayer throughout the day when evil strikes or my mind starts to stray. I am very new and not officially Orthodox yet, but I look forward to praying the Jesus prayer while doing prostrations in the Orthodox church and hope to speak to an Orthodox father soon.

What you talking about? I once visited Prohor Pcinski, where he seemed to meditate under the rock, called "Isposnjak" or something like that, in the mountain above the Church.
The Orthodox Church was building a cabin where people can come and visit and left some money there off course, but nevertheless , three people worked on the roof of the new build cabin of which two were very kind and simple people who greeted us and answered are curious questions but the other one who was arrogant and did not even greet us , turned out to be the priest. A very good example how much spiritual evolve he is.
Anyway, after my hike partner, who led me there, found out that he was a priest, wanted to know why in the nearby village they removed the ancient stones that was the gate of the same old church, he answered with contemptuous tone "So you would ask, thats why!". We saw that there was no talking with the guy. A spiritual leader without humbleness is no spiritual at all, he can be leader though.
Orthodox church, as any the other religious groups today, have so much power and act as if they are God themselves.
If you read the new testament you can see that the priests who were against Jesus, behave the same as these religious leaders behave today. As Jesus said " ..they don't practice what they teach."
Total misusing of power and manipulating the poor pious people, especially on the Balkans. But in front of the cameras, oh they are generous, and act holy.
And the irony is, the person who meditated there , Prohor Pcinski, was a holy man, he went there to meditate. A thing some new age people do. I do not say that they are better or those are worst, and that all priests are corrupt, but open your eyes and do not trust priests who regurgitate words from scriptures.
When I was a new ager/occultist/tantric, nothing I ever did worked but I kept getting sick and I was always in and out of hospital. Before I went back to church I almost lost it because my conscience wouldn't let me live in peace. It got to the point where I would have a panic attack everyday at sunset, and the anti anxiety medication wouldn't work. I thank God that nothing I ever did worked and that I ended up getting sick and having mental health problems because that is what lead me back to Him. These days I have so much peace I don't even realise when it's sunset and I no longer feel like I'm being hunted. I have a lot of attacks from the enemy on my physical health but I rejoice because I know God is with me.

Our financial life was declining, and our marriage was almost over. One day when I was exercising, a friend in the group commented to me that his life is falling apart, including his job and he thought it was the meditations. So I decided to quit. I never went again, But My husband continues to attend, but not like before. I'm praying for him to stop.

As a kid , Yoga was my religion and Paramahansa Yogananda was the "master" that Mom, so I as a kid, followed. The Autobiography of A Yogi, Edgar Casey books, the Bagvad Ghita, and the Tibetan Book of The Dead were my spiritual books. I attended my first seance at 7 years old, could observe auras at around 9 and learned the Tarot when I was 11 years old. My next thing was the Ouija board. Mom said that I could learn. We were members of the Aquarian Foundation in the Self Realization Fellowship. I grew up a child of the occult.
Fast forward, to 29 years old, when I began studying the Christian bible with Diciples of Jesus, and was baptized as a Diciple of Jesus. Over the years in Fellowship with Christians, I've determined that most Christians are not truly aware that there ARE elements or "entities" affecting things that are unseen to most, just like the invisible data that streams to the cell phones. The "unseen" is there. It's real. The Holy Scriptures given by the Lord God (YHWH) identifies them and provides the signs that Followers can observe to protect yourselves. The Word can arm us to both defend and prosecute war against those entities. Our battle is not with the flesh, unless it's our own. NEVER sway from that which is WRITTEN. The Apostle Peter warned us that the wolves entered in and after 2,000 years have become very good at perverting the Word to lead the unsuspecting astray. Avoid symbolism, and follow the WORD ONLY. Satan has been given longer leash, similar to the example in the book of Job. Peace and Blessings to you. Shalom.

I’m orthodox Christian was raised like that but I have realized after researching and strong prayers that only God is the ultimate redeemer and savior. We can honor saints and respect but we should pray to God directly. I also speak from experience , I would pray directly to a saint and only came to understand that it’s by Gods permission a saint can intercede. It’s not the saint that gives the miracle. It’s the Lord. It’s the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit that we have to ultimately believe in .bless you all in the name of Jesus.

Best reasoning Ive heard against yoga as Orthodox. It had to come down to the poses because many of the westernized, hip yoga classes at the beach do appear very stripped of any mention of the religious beliefs-other than vague comments or saying “namaste” at the end.
But knowing that the poses are symbolically referring to demons puts the nail in the coffin for me. Thanks to the father for pointing that out.

God is the one who gives them charge over us. We don't have authority to make them move or do for us, God is the one who can. The saints were human as we are and are not worthy to be prayed to. Start fasting, see the change in youself, get baptized, join an Orthodox Church to help guide you on your path. The best recipe for a happy and healthy life. Also a great afterlife 😄
Id be really curious to hear the orthodox perspective on psychedelic tryptamines in specific. Theres a tremendous value behind these compounds wether medically or spiritually. For example, without them id still be suffering chronic migranes as i had my entire life, and have not in several years now, even without taking them consistently. But also, i wouldnt be here engaging with this curiosity towards orthodox christianity. Been a proud heathen my entire adult life, and my gods have served me better than ive served them if im being honest. But its almost as if that path lead me here in an unexpected roundabout way. I grew up around a protestant and catholic but secular world. Made christ seem utterly impotent and frankly corny to me, while the gods of my ancestors always embodied vitality and wisdom. I dont feel that same sense of cringe and disgust towards orthodoxy... its truly beautiful, and genuine.

In short. Psychedelics opened my mind so I remembered my childhood, that was too horrific to cope with, and still is. It led me, that for decades before was very negative against Christianity - to run to the Russian Orthodox Church. (I was 43) And I was Home. Baptized 6 months later, married 13 months after that. Before I had only bad relationships, open and hidden trauma. Like much else these plants and other medicines can be used in both good and bad ways. Therapeutic or as a drug to escape reality.

By the way, I am talking as an ex psychonaut that came to Christ for help. Just read the Bible with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I was an Atheist for many years, searching through everything before I finally knuckled down at age 40 and found myself in the New Testament. I was born into an Orthodox Christian family although went down the road of everything else but Christianity. Atheism etc. Whichever Church you go to is irrelevant and the name you call your faith also. God comes to us us through different means. Also the Church of Christ is not an institution, it is the many millions and billions of souls doing good works through their inherent love of Christ and God. We are a temple of God's work whatever name we give to our faith. Don't look outside of what God has provided for you in your immediate environment. ❤
