Once reason why I appreciate the no nonsense approach to your videos, you are literally a professional streamer and a stream doctor. Going to have to 100% agree here. The device works with the features that the marketing states. I was hoping for more out of this vid. He doesn't test sync or audio delay, color specs, etc. NO side by side between the other two capture devices. EVEN as someone that owns $1K worth of Elgato products and someone who has had a terrible experience with an EVGA PSU that fried my MSI AMD mobo, I was still expecting those comparisons clicking on this vid.
The advance pass through is just a pass through, it’s for those that use a single pc streamers or for the convenience of not unplugging everything to get back your refresh rate/resolution. The elgato capped me out at 60hz when my monitors are much higher, tiresome to unplug everything when I’m not recording or streaming just to get my refresh rate and resolution back. Love how the EVGA has this feature. No to mention I don’t have to move things around or mess with elgato sound capture is a bigger win.

have you tested the evga xr1 lite yet? seems like the BEST budget capture card right now. cheaper than a camlink, with passthrough, and still captures at 1080p/60.
I've been using Lo-fi in the back of my streams lately. I went to check out streambeats and it wasn't working so I looked up Harris Heller on Spotify and EVERY SINGLE song in my playlist is by Harris Heller.
ummm, you reviewed it without ensuring it was a "you " issue? you have a setup not equivalent to an average streamer , plus you're also using a 3080, which may home some kind of driver or Hdmi 2.1 issue because it's new. I'm not saying your evaluation isn't accurate, but you went into it with a chip on your shoulder and it showed. Sorry, not trying to be a dick, even if it comes across that way.
Something I picked up on in there marketing that I found suspect is EVGA advertises using 4 of these on one system. Most people getting into streaming for the first time really don't know that you should not use more than one capture card per USB bus and most entry level pc builders don't really know how the USB bus is split up. It just seems shady to try and market this that way knowing for most people this will not work well.
I know the feeling of "how good capture cards are." I tested out the Avermedia LGP2 Plus (The Toblerone), and a month in, it had audio sync issues (IN GAME) and wouldn't stop making audio hiccup noises. What a waste of $130. HD60S never stirred me wrong.
Could the Advanced Passthrough just be for people who want to keep this thing connected all the time, and when they AREN'T trying to capture, switch it back to 144 Hz? Seems dumb, but that's the only thing I could come up with. Haha.
Don't sure if you looked at the website but it's say * Video Resolution Advanced Pass Through(NO CAPTURE)*: 720p / 1080p / 1440p@120fps (* NOTE: Advanced Pass Through allows you to pass through your monitors native resolution and refresh rate, without having to disconnect the device. The loss of volume and mic audio when connecting to the xr1 as opposed to my ps4 controller is so significant I can barely hear anything and you couldn't hear me when I recorded in OBS.
Harris, I have a question about console streaming. I recently purchased an NZXT starter pro PC and an elgato capture card, with the intent to start recording and streaming my Xbox gameplay and webcam/audio on RUclips and Twitch. the xr1 is easily purchaseable here in singapore for around 40 - 50 usd. Just got one and its so much better than the genki shadowcast that ive been using. For 50usd its unbeatable.
It seems like it's doing what it says it should. It was passing through 1440p120, so it does do 1440p passthrough. It's just not able to capture at the same time, thats likely by design.
I wonder if trying to use a display capture would help for the 'advanced passthrough.' You said that Nvidia was seeing the monitor as the display rather than the capture card. I wonder if you could select the monitor in OBS as your display capture.

Do you think it could be a card targeted towards next-gen or current half-life consoles like the Xbox one x? Would have loved seeing you test out a console but overall great video!
I don’t know why this should be like this... but is the advanced mode like a game only mode. So you Plug the wired cable in streaming pc and the 2nd type a in the gaming pc so you got power by gaming pc if streaming pc is off.. so when you play without stream you can go into advanced mode to game on your max display features and for streaming its like „optimazing“ for Stream..... don’t know if you understand that... greetings from Germany by the way xD
did turning it on to 4k make the scene in OBS huge? your background is black so if it became huge you wouldnt see anything but black screen try making the scene smaller to fit to the screen
This is so disheartening to see :( EVGA is the best company I dealt with for video cards. best performance, reliability, customer support, etc. I really don't want this to be a defining product of theirs. I REALLY hope that this particular card is busted.
Evga has software that updates the firmware of the capture device. Its also drivers too. Currently in beta. The thing that grabbed my attention. Was the fact.
Haha.
Its an awesome feature as you never have a reason to record or stream above 1080p.
Don't sure if you looked at the website but it's say * Video Resolution Advanced Pass Through(NO CAPTURE)*: 720p / 1080p / 1440p@120fps
(* NOTE: Advanced Pass Through allows you to pass through your monitors native resolution and refresh rate, without having to disconnect the device. Note that there is no capture feature when in advanced pass through mode.) * Guess you can't capture when using APT.
If Harris shaved his head and said "Science Bi*tch" , he would be Jesse from Breaking Bad.
EVGA Customer support for their GPU's is fantastic, so I can't imagine I would differ with other products
Does owned give source files for the packs you buy? Let’s say to customize the color and text?
The loss of volume and mic audio when connecting to the xr1 as opposed to my ps4 controller is so significant I can barely hear anything and you couldn't hear me when I recorded in OBS.
The only channel that advertised the XR1 is gamer nexus' video of "HW News - Microsoft Buys Bethesda, NVIDIA Changing SLI, TSMC 5nm Fully Claimed
"
Lobe you alpha love from india 😭❤
Really glad you did this I almost bought this for 225
Harris, I have a question about console streaming. I recently purchased an NZXT starter pro PC and an elgato capture card, with the intent to start recording and streaming my Xbox gameplay and webcam/audio on RUclips and Twitch. (I still need a webcam but.. COVID). I have not been able to find a video specifically for a console/pc streaming and recording setup. Any tips? I’m just confused on how to set up everything to include the webcam, mic, capture card and pc. Thank you!
Why didn't you include the razer ripssw HD in here? You already did a review of it and said it was better than the HD60s
Because hes a avermedia and elgato shill
Probably because the HD60S+ is what the majority will use along with AVerMedia.
@@EhrgeizTV but if the razer is the same price as the hd60 and better why would he recommend it over the razer? Just comes across as a little dishonest for the sake of brand loyalty. He makes helpful content dont get me wrong, but he also comes across as super biased in some of his content
Hey bro I watched a video about twitch the other day and there’s some sort of agreement that a person signs that says something like you can only stream on twitch and nowhere else. Does that mean at the same time as you stream on twitch or you can’t ever stream anywhere else? Sorry if I’m not making sense!
Been waiting for this vid after the stream yesterday. Im just goona get the hd60s
the xr1 is easily purchaseable here in singapore for around 40 - 50 usd. Just got one and its so much better than the genki shadowcast that ive been using. For 50usd its unbeatable.
@Alpha Gaming I have question do any of those capture Ultra Wide sources?
Great video, interesting product!
Directly from their website:
"Video Resolution Advanced Pass Through(NO CAPTURE): 720p / 1080p / 1440p@120fps"
That passthrough it just that, passthrough. No recording capabilities.
Oh, they didn’t send you one to review? Weird eh? You sound a bit salty about it if I’m honest... They don’t have to, you know...
Thanks for the review though, always appreciated.
@alpha gaming this is pass through only not capture, apparently this is on the product page.... Video Resolution Advanced Pass Through(NO CAPTURE): 720p / 1080p / 1440p@120fps
Didn’t say in the video, but did you look to see if there were drivers or an update on the EVGA website?
Can you do a video about the Black magic camera switch ?
Yo thanks for uploading
Is there a capture card that will let me play in ultrawide 3440x1440 @ 144hz and stream in 1080p60? Currently I have the 4K60 and if I want to stream I have to play @60hz.
Do you think it could be a card targeted towards next-gen or current half-life consoles like the Xbox one x? Would have loved seeing you test out a console but overall great video!
What is the best free software for thumnails and editing videos mate
I want I want I want
I broke I broke I broke
Harris, what is a good pc building website where you can customize a pc but they make it? The two I have found so far are nzxtBLD and originPC
Evga has software that updates the firmware of the capture device. Its also drivers too. Currently in beta. The thing that grabbed my attention. Was the fact. It can also be used to connect your camera to your computer as web cam. So buying this as multi tool device. So. This sort of review. Quite lack luster. Is very eye rolling.
