I love the idea of this thing even if I might not personally use it. I'd 100% go for this if it was my first step into pro audio and capture 👌good stuff
I think it seems great for travel, all in one just pack up your camera, laptop, maybe console? mic, and start streaming or recording with high quality. Honestly, if you travel a lot and plan to stream during your travels, it's the best starting setup as well, and if you *wanted* you can your home setup for more complicated stuff. Good stuff Rode!
I’ve had this in my shopping cart for what feels like forever, but I CANT seem to hit buy. I feel the same as you. I like the faders of the GoXLR. I like having separate capture cards for gaming and cameras. BUT man this would be epic as travel gear.
I appreciate your ability to put yourself in other people's shoes to help the most people! Even when a product might not be the best for you, you are able to help guide those who it may be useful for! Thanks for the quality content as always!
Thank you for the review, I saw this quickly listed online a couple months ago and thought it was cool, but I didn't read it too deeply. You just highlighted that this is even cooler than I thought, as someone who spends a lot of time professionally in 'zoom' and giving PPTs, this is exactly what I need over my current 'traditional' capture card.
I saw Rode comment on another video that they are working on firmware updates for the Rodecaster Duo and Rodecaster Pro that will bring the multi track virtual devices for winOS sound settings. If/when that happens the Rodecaster Duo will be a dream come true for dual PC streamers.
bruh... I wanna sound as natural and conversational as you. I'm even a former radio DJ with 11 years under my belt. Still don't have it like you got. Good job.
I create custom rosters for sports video games of alltime greats throughout sports history and then broadcast the games with full announcing like a real game (not just a gamer making offhanded comments about the action and such)...just on RUclips now but with no, well, "effort" to try and grow. But more and more people who watch tell me they think I should try and grow the channel and I'm finally exploring it. Your channel's become daily content for me at this point as I try to figure out how the hell to do this :)
I have the whole lineup of the new rode products and I can say for 100% fact I use the streamer x more that my duo and pro 2. I don’t have to use my capture card so now that’s a extra pcie port open and it connects straight to my consoles both Xbox and PS. If you know what your doing you can route the audio any way you would like. You don’t have to buy a Xlr mic or usb mic just use headset with built in mic. The only issue I have is that they have yet to release the unify app for Mac OS all tho I heard there is a beta version. Overall this might be hands down the best small form factor interface/capture on the market.
I've been sharing your videos with friends of my who stream which in turn brings them here to you. I've garnered so much knowledge about different things that truly find everything you put up pretty helpful even if just for another point of view. Thank you Harris.
Picked this device up almost a year ago and besides the Unify software acting crazy at times, I LOVE this device! It has made streaming and recording so much easier!
From the rental&staging perspective we may try one of these to see how it fits in. Although it looks a little to "streamie" for our use. But who knows. Thanks Harris!
Absolutely love mine - makes it way easy to stream from my Mac now and get a professional XLR input at the same time. I've tried other solutions from Elgato and it was not as smooth. Only thing I wish RODE added was a Power Button on the Streamer X. It's a bit of a pain to have to unplug from power or USB when I don't want to use it.
Seems like a great thing to take for road trips for on the spot podcasts or something where you can't take your full battle station content creation setup. Packs small and light.
So I have rodecaster pro 2 for my my main dual pc streaming setup. But have a separat "art station" where I have my laptop with a drawing tablet, and wanted to start making art content on twitch/youtube. This feels like just the thing for a scaled down streaming setup like that. Though I'm a bit on the fence for more rode hardware after the roadcaster pro 2, they have talked a lot about coming features and updates that just never seem to arrive. And frankly rode kind of suck at talking to and informing their community/followers on what is going on and what they are doing.
I was hoping for a review on this, I've been wanting a super simple but versatile setup. Now with GoXLR support pretty much ending this almost seemed like a too good to be true replacement for my workspace. I've heard of some issues with setup/software, but still definitely something I'm considering moving forward
Thanks Harris. I am one of those people that is a pro presenter and does watch your videos. I watch your channel to see new tech. I have a complex TV studio set-up in my home, with some great gear. However, if I was starting online from scratch today, that unit is the only AV interface that a presenter would need. 😊

My husband's work may take he and I travelling to a lot more places, so I have been thinking about what my travel stream/content station needs to look like. And this could be a GREAT piece to just pack up and go with a laptop, a camera, and a mic! The fact that it has a capture card INCLUDED makes it the perfect travel streaming hub!
I have the steamer x and have been really enjoying it. I haven't made as much use of the smart pads as I'd like, was hoping for something more along the lines of a stream deck or loupedeck live, but they're still useful. I need to look into midi more. Also, I've had random audio loss at points, but nothing a restart of unify can't fix. One other thing is the HDMI had recently stopped working, but rode had good support, so hoping to get it fixed
hey there, great video as usual. I searched a lot around and I cannot find an answer on this: does it support 25fps? I know it does 30fps, but for people like myself living in the 25p countries... would be great to know if it supports 25p (since it doesn't support 24p apparently) Thanks
You sold me on the Beacn setup. Went with the mic and audio setup and it's great. It detects all the audio just what I was looking for and no can have my own mix and audience mix. That's all you need! Lmfao
Really interesting! I'm a music streamer and I run all my audio through my MacBook Pro and my video and stream output through my PC. I don't think this would help with that set up specifically but as you said, if I'm traveling, that might be a great piece of gear to bring to include everything I need! Thanks Harris!
Stream deck plus and whichever capture card you want is all you need. Gives you all the software and hardware you need with the least amount cable clutter.
I gotta be honest, the wave link software is okay, I've had issues with it and I'm tired of it, if you plan to use a focusrite with the wave link, you might encounter issues like I did
This looks like it would be good for someone who's maybe taking the "second step" in the streaming space. After they've been using just a webcam and headset mic, playing only PC games because that's all OBS can capture and stream. When they realise they want to take things a little more seriously and want to stream their console games and upgrade to an XLR mic. This plus a new XLR mic seems like a great all in one solution saves having to buy separate capture card and XLR usb interface. I already have a separate capture card, requiring a separate HDMI splitter, plus a yamaha AG03 mixer for the mic and monitors. All the cabling is a mess and once the mixer is setup, you don't really ever "fiddle" with all the knobs and sliders, plus it all cost roughly the same (if not a lttle more) than this device. I wish something like this would have been around a year ago when I was looking to upgrade my gear.
Seems neat, but feel like it basically costs as much as a good capture device AND audio interface. Outputting to two PCs is probably the only remarkable feature at that point.
I think more products should definitely exist in this space. In terms of the dual PC USB solution, that should be a given on more products as well, even if there are less cases of it being needed.
Thanks for this video @Senpai . At 07:55 you mention this could be used for a camera that has a 30 min record limit to be used longer. I have an old DSLR camera I hope to use with this exact issue - would the Streamer X really solve this?
I have a complete Sony fx3 gimbal and hand held setup in the works any recommendations on external monitors you've used in the past or currently own? Also if you're not using any I know a content creator that could use one :D. Do not need external recording, budget would be around $150-$200
Looks like a contender as a GoXLR replacement for me. With GoXLR future support in question and the fact that just bumping the thing disconnects the device from my PC, often requiring a reboot, I am keeping an eye out while not exactly in the market right now. This seems to meet most of my requirements, but not sure on some things still. Does it support press as well as hold on the mute buttons to allow for muting to a specific vs all outputs? Can I program the nobs to adjust other audio device volumes by switching pages or smart pad? Redoing my audio seems a daunting task, but sounds like it is only a matter of time until it may be necessary.
I don't suppose you can take a look at the Hercules Stream 100 ($149) and the Hercules Stream 200 XLR ($279.99). The 200 XLR seems like it's a great alternative to this and or the RØDECaster Duo (if you don't need the 2 inputs)?
I don’t want to be that guy but are you gonna review the FIFINE audio mixer? It’s been getting decent reviews from other creators but I want to see what your opinion is on it.
Nice video -- I use OBS and an SLR primarily for video calls. I use an audio cable for sound and user-defined shader filter to adjust lighting (which is kind of pain). Will this rode device make both sound and video process (lighting adjustments) better/on the fly?
Hello. Something kind of not directly related but, would you advise somebody to just start streaming even without their logo, Abpit page and social media not set up? Or stream after all that is set up?
For that price though it's probably better to hold off and get the Rode Caster Pro 2, The only thing that's worth it to me is the Capture Card integration THAT is a really dope feature.
Elgato Wave XLR with in app VST support is still far superior. Elgato Marketplace offers more on demand enhancements for free to download as well. Most of the competitor and newer all-in-one solutions seem to flair their hardware offerings, but Wave XLR dominates on the software side still.
I’m anion so forgive the question, but if this only has one video input then how can you stream both your game and show your face simultaneously? Unless you have a ton of inputs on your computer. My MacBook has 1 hdmi. So…
It depends on price, but generally i'm in favour of multi-purpose devices because I have always been supremely poor and so the amount of things I can do with something will help justify the expenditure (example, I bought a PS2 because it could play DVDs and so I didn't need to buy a separate DVD player, yes i'm old lol). As long as it does everything competently (The PS2 worked for DVDs, but it was a worse experience than a DVD player, but that's ok because it saved me money) it sounds great. also:
As someone who streams for a very specific reason and niche, this actually sounds like an awesome all in one device. If I already didn't have my elgato capture cards and interface this could be a very good viable option (and much cheaper too) than going an buying separate gear that do one thing. Especially considering it can take up to 4K input.
I think you need to do an ecosystem comparison between Rode and Mackie with their new Mainstream. Could be a short series talking about levels (basic, intermediate, advanced) and console vs PC vs dual PC/hybrid (console+PC). The cost difference between the 2 ecosystems is close...
This is super appealing to me since my goxlr has had constant issues and has been driving me crazy and my elgato capture card died this is just what I need. However I have a big question that I've only seen 1 answer for, on reddit, 2 months ago. There's no stream deck compatibility for audio levels? Will they be making a streamdeck plugin or anything that will work with UNIFY so we don't have to tab out and manually click and change all the audio in the Rode software? It looks like that isn't a thing yet. Seems like a massive oversight to me.
Returned it after video is not picking up randomly, OS sleep (laptop user here) and streamer x constantly having an issue transmitting audio despite being detected as an audio device and the device not remembering my last settings. Resetting involves pulling out the USB-C cable(s), and replugging it as it has not power button. Very inconvenient for the price tag Perhaps after some updates to firmware and software it will be great some day (used it on Mac and Windows).
When you plug your cameras into the smartplugs, does it hurt them at all to leave them with the "on switch" turned on all the time, and effectively just ripping the cord out?
I like that you skip the specs part, cause it feels more like people get way to obsessed with that stuff. also now I want to paint my nails again, I know what I'm going to do now!
I could see this device working in my use case. Running a stream for the local fighting game community. Its at a public bar/restaurant so having something small yet versitile could be really cool for a quick pop up stream.
I really want to see you do a review of the RØDECaster Duo. The StreamerX is nice, but I already *have* gear. I have a GoXLR Mini, but it's glitchy and support seems to be ending...I want to replace it with the RØDECaster Duo, but at $500, I'm not sure how it compares and that's too much money for me to gamble and hope it's better.
What device would you recommend for someone who is looking to get hardware for a two PC setup and also upgrade their mic? I have been running a 2 PC setup with a Yeti I have had for a decade plus Voicemeeter using VBAN and its been great overall but have the desire for physical hardware. Also looking to upgrade the mic since its time. At this point I have watched so many reviews the options are paralyzing haha
It technically supports Linux as well! From RODE on a Reddit post: You shouldn’t have any issues using the Streamer X as an input/output and capture device. We’ve test the Streamer X on a Steam Deck with Audacity and OBS. However, you cannot use any RØDE software with the Linux system. You’ll need to perform firmware updates on a Mac/PC with RØDE Central.
I really like the idea of this device. Especially considering the GoXLR support rapidly running out of time, I think this could be my next upgrade (sidegrade? Probably sidegrade). How do you think this compared side by side with the Elgato XLR stuff?
Hi, do you know if the video signal UVC USB output will have the audio baked in from the XLR inputs of the Streamer X or would it be camera audio or a mix of both? (without the unify running) Also I wonder if this would work with the USB input on something like the yolobox pro . Thanks
Now here's my question, can this do 21:9 capture? I play out 3440x1440p120hz but downscale it to 2560x1080 for obs to output. There are very few capture cards that do that.
Well, I own goxlr mini atm but it makes me sad because of stuttering in some games (EAFC24, LoL) if managing my sound. So I use it just as xlr input for my NT1a. Is this a good choice instead of my goxlr mini? I thought about buying beacn mix create but yeah. I'm not sure. use scenarios: game streaming video conferences (for work) just discord etc. That's why I loved the goxlr mini - different profiles with routing, good audio quality but the software didn't make it in Win 11.
Hiii So glad you made a video, I love this device so much actually, its been seamless for dual pc. But the program resets everytime you update your pc and my mic sound horrible (currently trying to fix) I dont think its compatible with sm7b, or I just cant figure a good setting.
I had one. I ended up returning it due to the software issues, HDMI input having a blue hue, mic input not working. Usually fixed with an unplug and replug. I had an issue where I couldn't adjust the HDMI audio as it was greyed out. Uninstalling the software did not fix the issue. In the end, when it worked it was really dope but to many issues to make it worth it.
hey Harris first of all thank u for sharing ur knowledge with us "New streamers" i have learned everything mostly here from u, i am confused little now idk which device should i get elgato XLR or this from Rode? i want to stream a quality sound without a latency y'know i started to use Elgato Wave link and i have real latency and my voice is laggy ironically enough i was watching ur vid abt elgato XLR which is little bit expensive for me but i need one of the tow anyway, what should i get? Thank u very much 👑
Its a great little device with a ton of useful features even for someone who isn't a content creator. But I have to massive issues with it. 1. It is unstable (crashes/freezes 1-2 times per day), 2. The headphone out is super noisy.
Im using the GOXLR mini and while it works for what I need. there are still some issues. It barely powers my 250ohm headphones and one of the sliders doesnt work most of the time and the audio jack has poor connection to my headphones so it makes a noise sometimes until I twist it or unplug and plug it back in. If it could power my microphone, headphones and do what it does with designated channels(like it does have) it would be more than enough for me. So what I'm wondering is, do you have an alternative to the GOXLR mini that is as good or better and doesnt need an external amp at all?
Tbh this sounds like a product for me. I dont have a complicated setup, and buying high end audio and video capture stuff is beyond my budget. This having everything in one for a reasonable price, and apparently good quality too, speaks to me! I can also see this being used for portable streaming setups where carrying big boy gear would be cumbersome. Does it support Modmic? I don't want to buy an XLR microphone just to use this or another mixer.
I bought this. Took 2 hours until my PC recognized the device. Once that was over, I find that it only has a 3 band EQ for the mic.. no thanks! Wave XLR did the trick instead
Год назад
I think this is an interesting device for people with a simple setup, or an "on the go" need. But for a stationary setup with an xbox in one corner, and the mic in another... This does not fit in that well. Great and cheap enough to get started, but you will at one point throw away features for alternative options... hope that made sense. :D
It's really satisfying knowing that theres *some* company out there that cares about power users. I've been using my Akai LPD8 that I got for $60 and a free software to control my whole pc. Recently I've gotten into macros, and I can now completely control spotify with my hardware buttons.

Very inconvenient for the price tag
Perhaps after some updates to firmware and software it will be great some day (used it on Mac and Windows).
hmm interesting, glad you reviewed this, because it sounds like something I could use and less clutter
I’m honestly tempted by this device. And I already have all the audio gear I’d ever need😂. Also here for the viewer engagement 😂
I really love the concept of this device! Just wish it was $199 - $250. I feel that at that price, this would be way more competitive.
Always love your vids. This does look cool. I was actually looking for something like this.. But I may try to make one
literally just got a lovely prebuilt gaming pc and wanted to do some entry level stuff. glad i came here to the channel!
I could see this device working in my use case. Running a stream for the local fighting game community. Its at a public bar/restaurant so having something small yet versitile could be really cool for a quick pop up stream.
small thing but could you mention pricing at the ends of videos or something? It would be nice for low budget creators like myself. Thanks.
At this point I have watched so many reviews the options are paralyzing haha
so many good gear coming out for streamers man
It technically supports Linux as well! From RODE on a Reddit post:
You shouldn’t have any issues using the Streamer X as an input/output and capture device. We’ve test the Streamer X on a Steam Deck with Audacity and OBS.
However, you cannot use any RØDE software with the Linux system. You’ll need to perform firmware updates on a Mac/PC with RØDE Central.
My dual PC setup has been a nightmare getting to work smoothly with my GoXLR and this looks like a perfect solution.
I really like the idea of this device. Especially considering the GoXLR support rapidly running out of time, I think this could be my next upgrade (sidegrade? Probably sidegrade). How do you think this compared side by side with the Elgato XLR stuff?
WhAAAAA I’m a dual pc user and I have to say…Thank you for the vid😭😭so much love for ya!!
Hi, do you know if the video signal UVC USB output will have the audio baked in from the XLR inputs of the Streamer X or would it be camera audio or a mix of both? (without the unify running)
Also I wonder if this would work with the USB input on something like the yolobox pro . Thanks
Now here's my question, can this do 21:9 capture? I play out 3440x1440p120hz but downscale it to 2560x1080 for obs to output. There are very few capture cards that do that.
E Mo Gee. Keep the great content coming
started with a streamerX before i upgraded to a rodecaster pro 2, it served me well
Well, I own goxlr mini atm but it makes me sad because of stuttering in some games (EAFC24, LoL) if managing my sound. So I use it just as xlr input for my NT1a.
Is this a good choice instead of my goxlr mini? I thought about buying beacn mix create but yeah. I'm not sure.
use scenarios:
game streaming
video conferences (for work)
just discord etc.
That's why I loved the goxlr mini - different profiles with routing, good audio quality but the software didn't make it in Win 11.
Update the goxlr mini driver should work again
Thank u very much 👑
Bro went from "clean shave" to "gloriouse beard" to shaved again😅
My autistic brain is confused😂😂😂
Its a great little device with a ton of useful features even for someone who isn't a content creator. But I have to massive issues with it.
1. It is unstable (crashes/freezes 1-2 times per day),
2. The headphone out is super noisy.
Great vid but does anyone know what arm he uses for his Shure mic at 2:05?
Im using the GOXLR mini and while it works for what I need. there are still some issues. It barely powers my 250ohm headphones and one of the sliders doesnt work most of the time and the audio jack has poor connection to my headphones so it makes a noise sometimes until I twist it or unplug and plug it back in. If it could power my microphone, headphones and do what it does with designated channels(like it does have) it would be more than enough for me. So what I'm wondering is, do you have an alternative to the GOXLR mini that is as good or better and doesnt need an external amp at all?
Some engagement…engaged. 😉
I think this is an interesting device for people with a simple setup, or an "on the go" need. But for a stationary setup with an xbox in one corner, and the mic in another... This does not fit in that well. Great and cheap enough to get started, but you will at one point throw away features for alternative options... hope that made sense. :D
I like the fact that I can plug my camera into this. And also... You never learned PowerPoint? Mind blown.
Does the auto editing thing work with recorded gameplay? Or does it have to be live?
Can you make a video about connecting 2pc + 3 consoles on both the rodeprocaster2 and procaster duo?
It's really satisfying knowing that theres *some* company out there that cares about power users. I've been using my Akai LPD8 that I got for $60 and a free software to control my whole pc. Recently I've gotten into macros, and I can now completely control spotify with my hardware buttons.
