I have been using the AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra since it first came out. While it is "older" as Harris mentioned, it has been a fantastic capture device. I've had zero problems with it, and it can do 4K/60 with HDR passthrough no problem at all (my monitors can only do 60Hz).
i wish i could say the same. ive had mine for about a year now and ive started to have problems with my game audio and game video going out of sync after im done streaming on twitch. so im done go to watch it back and the first hour is ok then out of nowhere its out of sync and i dont know why. Im thinking of switching to the NZXT. i tried elgato but had other audio issues with it.
when you highlighted "key light" as a product name that someone has stolen from elgato... a key light is a type of light on its own, not just the name of a product. in many productions like film and TV there's a key light, fill light, and back light. one to illuminate the subject, one to illuminate the space, and one to eliminate shadows. razor is not "stealing" from elgato by calling it a key light... because it's a key light
Improves the shot. Any doggo time is good doggo time. Hope he got some loves afterwards! I've been experimenting with flashback recording with Steelseries Moments. Very clunky and doesn't plug into my Stream Deck. Debating whether I should get one. Can you make the Avermedia work with Stream Deck buttons or is that limited to Elgato only? Had a quick flick through the plugin section on the Stream Deck Store and couldn't find any Avermedia plugins. Thanks, as always, for the video dude!
NZXT has made a microphone before, and considering both of them, I think NZXT’s goal is making this type of gear accessible from a technical standpoint to the average user. The fact that there is hardly any extra software to download means that all one needs to know in order to get it to work is how to add sources in OBS. That’s literally it. Major respect for that.
What we really need is a card with DP 1.4 passthrough, capable of the refresh rates that DP 1.4 is capable of, and/or a card with HDMI 2.1 passthough, capable of up to 4k120
I owned the Avermedia one (now have the Live Gamer 4K - GC573) the RECentral software seems to not be supported anymore (and it used to hit pretty hard on your ressources) I stongly prefer using it directly through OBS. That was my input on this subject
I set up this capture card eith my PC and PS5 but when i switch my monitor to HDMI mode, i see nothing on screen. No PS5 home screen or anything. What can i do? 😢
So to be clear, Capture Cards are only useful for multiple PC streaming/Recording setups right? Would this benefit some who only has 1 Computer that they stream/record/game on?
I have been using the same Elgato Capture Card since 2015 on a one PC setup for streaming. I used to stream off a MacBook Pro using BootCamp to get Windows 😂 I would plug my capture card into my Xbox One and hook it up to my MacBook so I could stream some console games. I'm still using the same capture card today to stream Nintendo Switch and PlayStation games. If you're looking to stream console games I definitely recommend picking up a capture card. Not a necessity of course, up to you.
What else would one call a key light? I guess you can just call it a more general term like light but I mean most of these companies are marketing these as a supplementary light source akin that in a stage multi-point lighting system.
Amazing video dude thank you for the clarity ! Think im gonna go Elgato X just for my set up . I want to stream PS5 through OBS . Find the software very handy for not having to change sources and so on .

Mmm will they work on Linux? The elgato one works with a reverse engineered driver (you have to start it before opening OBS) And the cam link works flawless on Linux according to eposvox
I've been trying to find a 1440P 144hz capable capture card, but I haven't found a suitable one. Either internal, but PCIE x4 which will I have heard will reduce the performance of my GPU on my stream PC, or a Thunderbolt 3 card which I has the same problem with an adaptor and my PC motherboard doesn't support... Any suggestions?
You said you were dropping an in depth tour of your streaming setup on your personal channel a week or so after the big studio reveal… that was 4 weeks ago
The Signal HD60 should have an * on the claim it can do 1440p60 passthrough. As it CAN do it, BUT you have to manual reset the source each time when first booting up OBS and every time you alt-tab out of a game or fullscreen programme and will sometimes (not often) do it randomly. This may be something someone is willing to deal with, but for myself after 2 weeks of using it, I've decided it's getting too annoying and returning it for the 4k60 version. if somebody has a permeant fix for this I'd love to know
No animal would ever ruin any video, it´s a nice integration, we are all living creatures and it adds some life to videos that are cut and made to perfection that it feels, unnatural and fake. Also Harris, you have made videos about SM7B and GOXLR and other stuff like Beacn, etc. But you have never showed us a combo with GOXLR and SM7B, I would love to see how you would EQ and set it up. I tried the one you made for the Blue Kiwin in your GOXLR video, but it doesn´t work for me, it sounds kinda thinny and boxy
If the NZXT HD60 has FreeSync passthrough, it’s easily the buy over the Elgato HD60X, since I would never want to capture 1440p60 anyways, since it wouldn’t look pixel perfect on most displays, and I have a 4k monitor. The only thing I would be worried about would be software support, since Elgato when they couldn’t make the HD60S compatible with M1, (which [the capture card] admittedly didn’t use UVC), offered to replace M1 users’ capture cards with HD60S+ models.
The feature discussed at 5:36 rec/central software sounds great! (RECentral, looked it up 😉) Being able to pin highlight markers seems like a very handy feature.
I just want 1440p, 144 hz passthough and record/stream goddamnit. I want to capture my series x gameplay and stream it, even if I'm streaming at 1440 60 hertz, I still want to see 144 hertz on my monitor...
With the small chance that u might see this, I uploaded a video to RUclips, it was a vertical video, but it won't go horizontal when going to full-screen, is there a way I can change it so it will? Or do I have to record horizontal? Or something that had to be edited before upload? I use a phone to record my videos, not an actual camera, or if anyone has an answer that might help??
After lots of research and watching videos I ended up buying a Avermedia Liver Game Xtreme 2 and it never misses a beat and has better features that the Elgato. Sorry but so many people seem to have issues with the Elgato HD60+ so after reading about all the issues I decided on the Avermedia and haven't looked back. Not a single issue and has worked right out of the box from day one. It will be interesting to see how the Live Gamer Xtrem 2 stacks up against NZXT though.

One major use I have for my capture card is listening to audio from my consoles through my PC. Is there any noticeable lag in the audio when doing that?
If you've configured that source in OBS to be monitored by a headset or speakers plugged into that PC (which is how I've done it), shouldn't be any noticable lag
I have a 2160p Monitor G-Sync. Does this NZXT support that? Mine is 60hz. I'm not worried about recording it. Just need to know if it supports that monitor I have
Nice video! You said you are gonna use this as your travel card for fancy meetings. Isn't the elgato cam link 4k better for that, because its smaller? Or has the cam link 4k any disadvantage for online meetings? Greetings 🙂
What capture card is currently in your setup? I want to see which one is the most popular right now 👀

Razer "Key Light" isn't stealing a naming scheme. It's a lighting position name. They're naming the suggested function.
Looked it up.
Key Light : the main source of light in a photograph or film
There is also Back Light and Fill Light.
Razer hair light next
It's a bit on the line. Naming it "key light" or clearly a way to manipulate searches and confuse people.

Enjoyed the cameo appearance. Thanks for the video enjoyed the content.
The puppers is giving the background some more life lol
My frames went up when the dog was on screen.
