HEY! Just in case you missed in in the description, AVerMedia sent me a $20 off code for this capture card to give to you. Like this comment and head up there to use it!
How so? I just got my new Gaming PC and struggling to find a system that sounds good for the audio for dual PC streams. I’m using a Avermedia portal plus 2 at the moment and would like to upgrade. Would this be a solution or should I go internal? My streaming PC is a gaming laptop, which might eliminate to internal route.
As per Avermedia (don't know if this was an update from after the video or not). Max Passthrough is 2160p60 HDR / 1440p144 / 1080p240 Max capture is 2160p30 / 1440p60 / 1080p120 / 1080p60 HDR
my interpretation of compare and contrast in English, compare would be to highlight the similarities whereas contrast would be to highlight the differences.
Is nobody going to talk about the fact that the mic wasn't plugged in on the arm? I mean, doesn't HAVE to be but like... I can't stop staring at he open XLR input.
Technically a UVC card isn't a capture card it's a webcam input so it's already compressed before it hits the streaming software. But most people don't really care.
BIG thing you need to let people know is its hdmi 2.0 not hdmi 2.1! Not many youtubers are talking about it because they don't actively record a lot of console gaming. If you own a monitor or tv that has hdmi 2.1 so you can actually PLAY games in 120 fps (with a resolution of 1440 or 4k) like overwatch 2, quake, ori games, rainbow six siege, etc know that this and other capture cards that dont have that hdmi 2.1 port will not work! A lot of console player will be buying these thinking that their new console and new monitor/tv will be perfect for this when it won't. To use this and other capture cards you have to disable the hdmi 2.1 on your tv/monitor in the settings and have it at 2.0 to use them, but now your consoles will be limited to either 4k 60 fps or 1080p 120 fps. This is big for games like overwatch where that frame rate makes the difference in playability. while nobody needs to stream the output higher than 1080 or 1440 60 fps, being limited to that on both sides (both sides meaning both the user and the viewer) makes upgrading your capture card or spending that extra money on a new capture card not worth it. You will not be able to take full advantage of this like a computer only user can. As of writing sadly there aren't any capture cards I can find that have hdmi 2.1.
"Please dont use teams!" Dude. If i had the choice at work, i wouldnt. But they are forcing us to go to it. So I have to use it for meetings and such :|
This capture card is giving hard time. I am able to record either of game audio or line in audio not both. Also frame drops when capture racing games even in 1080p. Game audio stops immediately when I plug mic in line in
The line out is huge because I game on console from time to time. My monitor does not have speakers, so using the line out to route the audio to my PC is HUGE.
Final update: Tested both cards, both allow 4K/60 play (1080/240 1440/120 VRR HDR pass), while allowing 1440/60 capture. HDX looks identical in OBS 28 preview w/ HDR. Sadly, with HDR on the LGU3, OBS preview has washed out colors. (only diff between cards) So not worth saving $40…
The best capture card? The one that will eventually bring HDMI2.1. Only then is it possible to stream 3440x1440 at 144Hz + HDR. OBS will soon get an update which should handle the tone mapping of HDR. But unfortunately there are currently no capture cards that play along on the hardware level.
What are the benefits of using a hardware video capture versus a software solution (OBS Studio)? I am running a Windows 10 pro, I7 11700K, NVMe 2 disks, 64 Gb RAM, RTX3060 12Gb in 2560 x 1440 up to 165 Hz.
I think I’ll be the first one to mention the thumbnail… love the bed head, but you can clean it up just by making a mask and setting your brush to “overlay” just drag it right over your bed head and watch the strays magically disappear👌🔥😂
Can you look at more off brand capture cards. I think a lot of them need debunking because they just lie to people about their features. If you did a video where you went through and looked at them at all price points trying to find the best at that price point and seeing if they actually deliver the specs they promise. Personally I would love a look at the EZCast CatchU as well. its £120 and claims to be able to output to a pc and record to an internal usb at 1080p60. would love to know if that is actually true
My main question is why has no one put out an HDMI 2.1 pass through card? I don’t care if it only captures 1080p, but let me pass through my full 4K 120hz hdr signal.
I have a 2080ti gaming pc 4k 2160p with G-sync and a gtx 980 for streaming PC, its 60hz. Can either of those capture cards handle the resolution from my gaming pc?
We bought the hd60x because we usually play games in 1440p and watching sometihng to caputer in 1080 and pass through in 1440p. We were dissapointed to discover that the hd60x does not have multiapp support at this moment. Would you know if the avermedia has multi app support for running in multiple programs or multiple obs sessions?
Yea a buck 80 is spendy for a mic arm. I got one a few months ago and will say they thought everything when engineering this thing, there is even a feature that they dont mention and it is that when you tighten the center joint to support heavier devices it does not affect the amount of force required for upward movement. Not tryin to sell you one, just sharing my experience.
Hi Senpai great video! However, 5:05 other reviewers aswell as the AVerMedia's site state that this card is supposed to be able capture 1440p 60fps, just like the HD60X. Do you have more info on this? And did you test it with an M1 Mac or an Intel one? Thanks in advance!
I am a big fan of avermedia cards. Had 2 camlink 4k which would just freeze after some time. Everybody recommends elgato but I would never recommend a Elgato capture card. Avermedia is a good option when you cant afford Magewell.
If there was a choice no one will use teams. However the intervention with office makes it so easy for Boomers to join video calls it’s the default in offices
Hey Harris just a question would you do a video or explain if you can use both the goxlr with and xlr mic and a beacn mic and mixer at the same time and how to set it up?
Do you have to have a hdmi 2.1 display in order for VRR to work? I have the Asus Tuf gaming capture card thats supports VRR but only if you have a hdmi 2.1 display.
Hey you said you didn't know what compare and contrast means. Compare means finding things similar. Contrast means finding differences. English lesson of the day :)
Hey Harris and I was wondering do you know any free websites that let's people create their own intros for whatever they want and I've been thinking about doing a live stream but I never had a chance to experience it
I have an off-topic Q from the video, but I was wondering what would be a good USB hub for a laptop user? I would like one for both USB-A 3.1 and USB-C 3.2 connections but am unsure what would be best. I have done so many searches and research I feel like my brain is about to implode. Any suggestions? Love your vids. They have helped me out a lot. 💕
Is there any recommendations for a capture card either internal or external that can accept 2+ 1440p 144hz inputs for recording, not just passthrough? Would love for 2x high end inputs and 2x low end inputs, but I can use an old capture card for the low end inputs if needed. Cheers
for me i am team elgato i hate avermedia after being 2 years with avermedia live gamer portable 2 plus 4k card i was get up with card cause the program keep breaking some thing in the card witch would be audio or the last update they had it would mess up my video recordings after 30 min the video would lag badly and audio is desynced i am ok with my elgato hd 60 pro card . i just saving up for a m.k2 card i just buy a xbox series x and a new nvme m.2 1tb drive so money dry
Well... yeah. Lol. External capture cards have been standard for ages and even the biggest streamers still use them. It's meant to connect to the I/O of the computer, or even a laptop, and not the motherboard...
software : i dont know because i dont use controller headphone jack but physicaly : buy these two things 1. "3.5mm 1to 2 share cable" 2. You're mad weird for painting your nails like that
Damn missed the cut off
My main takeaway from this video was that mic arm
Legit bought the mic arm after finishing this video
@@sexysournova208 How was it?
Compare - how they’re the same.
Contrast - how they’re different.
The audio in and out ports are pretty significant for 2 PC stream setups too imo. Really helps simplify the audio routing.

"Don't use teams"
Half the business world asks ... why? It's so tightly integrated with Office it just works
Yeah. I don't have a beef with Teams. It seems to work well enough.
But it just doesn't work, ever.
What is the point for using external capture card if you can invest these money for faster GPU that have NVENC capture?)
The point is
2 pc streaming setup
Switch PS5 XBOX
As per Avermedia (don't know if this was an update from after the video or not).
Max Passthrough is 2160p60 HDR / 1440p144 / 1080p240
Max capture is 2160p30 / 1440p60 / 1080p120 / 1080p60 HDR
Just gonna leave this here. "HDMI 2.1 WHEN?"
The audio out is perfect for the ps5 since they got rid of the optical output and now you can plug it into the audio in on the goxlr.
my interpretation of compare and contrast in English, compare would be to highlight the similarities whereas contrast would be to highlight the differences.
Next big jump is 4k120fps passthrough and capture
Is nobody going to talk about the fact that the mic wasn't plugged in on the arm? I mean, doesn't HAVE to be but like... I can't stop staring at he open XLR input.

Can't wait for the day that Harris starts unironically making dad jokes during videos

High resolutions and fps make no sense in the internet desert of germany. I keep using the Live Gamer Portable 2Plus 😅
thank you for sharing, Harris
"Please don't use Teams"...*Cries because my entire department on campus is switching to Teams in a few months.*

GC573 will still have to be my go to. Waiting for that 4k60 vrr passthrough/capture.
Wouldn’t the In and out Audio ports make it easier for dual pc streaming
That was my exact thought too and set the review unit I got up to demonstrate exactly that
The boom arm is more expensive than the capture card itself...WOW!
I think I’ll be the first one to mention the thumbnail… love the bed head, but you can clean it up just by making a mask and setting your brush to “overlay” just drag it right over your bed head and watch the strays magically disappear👌🔥😂
The first modern capture card that can mimic the XCapture-1's wide array of video inputs, will win the "does everything" title.
still waiting for a capture card that can do dolby surrond sound
that would be the holy grail for me

It's all I have to connect my gaming monitor to my PC.
Hey, if possible Can you check out Obsbot webcams. They are in Elgato facecam price range and have some fancy/gimmicky features.
There is a new ai webcam that puts the Obsbot Tiny 4k to shame it is the Insta360 Link ($300 tho 😞)
The NZXT 4k30 says it can do 1440p144Hz HDR passthrough too
half this video is an ad for a camera stand :(
I tried Avermedia's lite and live gamer4k card. Both caused a blue screen on my PC. Then I bought a 20€ noname and no crash since then
Thank you for calling out Teams. It really does SUUUUUUUUCK.
So you basically only need a capture card for a dual pc set up
My main question is why has no one put out an HDMI 2.1 pass through card? I don’t care if it only captures 1080p, but let me pass through my full 4K 120hz hdr signal.
This card allows it
I would buy an AverMedia boom arm if SenpaiGaming provided a coupon for it.
how is this capture card in comparison to the new NZXT capture card (Signal 4K30)? I would love to hear your opinions on them!
Is it true that the el gato can’t use the chat link cable with a mac. Some other videos say you can’t switch the audio to analog
number one thing about the avermedia cards vs the elgato that I noticed was no audio delay vs elgato needing a reboot after 4 hours or so.
😭 I really like the boom arm but at close to $350 (AUD) including shipping & taxes. Hmmmm Living DownUnder is awesome but the global shipping sucks.
gotta love the 4 half chipped different colored nails lol, what was the original pattern?
What's with the nail polish !?
Did Harris just say he doesn't know the difference between comparing and contrasting?
I have a 2080ti gaming pc 4k 2160p with G-sync and a gtx 980 for streaming PC, its 60hz. Can either of those capture cards handle the resolution from my gaming pc?

This is a windows limitation since it only allows one app to control a UVC device at a time. You will have to figure out a workaround
While the mic arm looks phenomenal I can’t believe it’s $10 more than the capture card.

Is it usb-c connectivity to the pc/Mac ?
Can this passthrough 480p60?
What’s up with the nail polish
Im thinking about it, i gave up on elgato hd60 x since mine doesn’t work right and elgato customer service is a joke
I've used a card like this on TEAMS so i can use my Sony A7iii with 85mm F1.4 lens and integrated shotgun mike
I am a big fan of avermedia cards. Had 2 camlink 4k which would just freeze after some time. Everybody recommends elgato but I would never recommend a Elgato capture card. Avermedia is a good option when you cant afford Magewell.
*Variable* refresh rate, not "fluctuating". Also, I see no test results. Not calling this a review.
How do i record 3840x1080 Harris my friend.?

what capture card would be recommended for streaming older consoles? namely SNES and PS2? and what kind of adapters would be needed, if any?
Ultra won’t play 4K/60 & capture at 1440p/60, but Ultimate 3 & HDS X can… so anyone want to buy my mint condition Live Gamer Ultra?
I thought I was, actually!
@Senpai Gaming Hi, help me out please...I have Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor, will this capture card work? Thanks for the content
cant decide if i should get a external card or internal capture card
When that day comes, the next resolution standard will nullify it, as I've seen over the past 2 decades
and here I am using 1440p 240hz...
Same
Can the capture card be used for ipads or iphones
Hm, maybe I should play Mario Kart in the next teams call.

should do a boom arm comparison.
Why is the volume so low? Asking for a friend 😂

Rode Podmic.
If he thinks THAT mic arm is long he should try out and take a look at the Samson MBA48

Came here for the capture card, left to look at the price of the boom arm.
I don’t get it which one is better Ultra or Extreme both look the same; I got the Ultra. Please explain Senpai !!😀
Extreme 3 allows passthrough of VRR.
I need this capture card your best card solution
Nice card, if my Revelator had a jack out that would be my card hmm change my xlr interface
Well it’s $50 saved if u buy with a coupon code. That’s a two week’s groceries XD
