well i have been using EVERY stream deck video you got to set up mine i have it to change scenes.......and clip my twitch stream create markers for later use manage my discord turn on and off certain voice channels and voice mods start and stop my Spotify playing you guessed it streambeats by this awesome youtuber... hmm cant seem to remember his name anyway all that and a few fine tuning buttons for when i edit my clips and upload them to tiktok anything i missed Mr. Heller.........KNOBS
Stream Deck, Stream Deck XL, and Stream Deck+. Other than scene switching in OBS, I use them for: Discord Channel surfing, Twitch channel surfing, audio control (Stream Deck+ and Wave Link), keeping track of different time zones, and buttons that enter text into chat with links that support my friends. I use those features almost every day. I produce shows in multiple time zones, so having something where I can see time zones next to each other is amazing. Thanks for the video.
Streamdeck mini, I love that little thing so much! I don't have to grab my mouse anymore while DJ'ing :o The most used button for me is the one that shows the artwork of my originals in VR with a single press. I feel bad for not picking up a streamdeck sooner!
I have 2 StreamDecks, one for each streaming setup. Changing scenes is something that I do the least often, almost never. I use the buttons for enabling and disabling audio sources, hiding and showing and switching cameras, on screen graphics, incrementing counters, starting and stopping and switching timers, and some mod actions like Followers Only mode and starting a raid if I have a predetermined target. Most common use is to mute/unmute my mic.
A good thing to note, is that many Stream Deck plugins run as an application on the background (you can find them from task manager etc.). So having many installed might affect the computers performance.
1. Viewer count button 2. Plugin showing who's live so I can just use that to raid into them 3. CPU usage 4. One page showing different time zones and weather 5. Magic 8ball to show on stream as a channel point redemption Never realized the speediest plugin before this. Thanks so much! Having that running every few minutes is awesome.
I use the stream decks and pedals as accessibility tools. I have a button to toggle mousse smooth, and disable regular mouse buttons, swapping them to the pedals. Perfect way to get around the tremor in my right hand when it's really severe.
My best friend loves streaming since I set up all her hotkeys on the stream deck. They manage her Vtuber model, her scenes, hue lights, discord user volume, etc. I even made a very lengthy macro that sets up her OBS, Vtube studio, and all the other stuff she needs for streaming. Resizes the windows too to make the best use of space on her screen.
#7 you can have dedicated set ups for certain games as well. As an example star citizen or elite dangerous I run a bunch of keys that trigger things in game like lift up landing gear, or contact station air control towers etc.
I use mine for helping me with coding, with repeating actions, swapping between IDEs and projects. When streaming, I use my stream deck for sound effects, scenes, widgets, minigames, autoban bots, speed test, for moderating other channels, recording a specific source, screenshoting everything or a specific source, having a preview on what friendly channels are live, and a lot more (including my own Stream Deck plugins). And, most importantly, because I'm legally deaf, I use it for adjusting my audio for my end alone.
I'm not the type of person who often leaves comments (almost never), but here I'm willing to make an exception. Harris, you have always been a source of useful information and here you are again saving my day. I spent all day looking for how to use Stream Deck to move the windows position and you were the only one who could help. As always - the best
I’ve actually been using it more for flight simulator than streaming lately. I set it up to do pretty much whatever I want in the sim, but I use it mostly for quickly switching between different camera views. I also use it to control my lights, and I’m gonna see how I can make it work for me in my DAW as well.
I have the 32 button streamdeck. In my effort to up my streaming game, I've got a full 8 page set up for pages, scenes, sounds, animations, poses, cameras, and facial expressions for my Vtubing models. I come from a tech theatre background, so I've been spending my time recently converting that workflow for myself via streaming, and the utility of the streamdeck.
Loved the explanation! Not a Stream Deck owner yet…. But when I am it will be the Plus for sure. You’ve shown how versatile it is and how well it can help organize a workflow. Thanks!
What I use the most: jump between the scenes, make a clip with Atrium vertical, mute, hide/unhide camera, show/hide certain sources. I never thought of the idea with the light like you shoed in this video, this is genius! Gonna try it tonight:)
Scott, your editing is becoming Harris' side kick. Harris is up here talking about Stream decks and you edit in little zingers and what not. I really enjoy your editing style. Keep up the good work.
I primarily use it to start recording or take screen shots of my second OBS instance. Also muting my browser source as I get into a game. Haven't streamed in 9 months so... yeah.
Don't you need a Philips Hue Bridge in order to use the smart plug? Or am I missing something? The bridge isn't required if the stream deck can somehow connect to it via bluetooth, but that isn't possible.
Please make sure you do not take down a load-bearing wall. It could be catastrophic. As for the Streamdeck, I love the Teams plugin - so useful during meetings because I’m always multitasking and don’t want to find the bloody teams window to mute/unmute and do other useful stuff.
Im using the stream deck+ and its been a complete game changer for me. Im a super small streamer and its made everything so much better. Even if im not streaming the quick access to volume for music discord etc. Muting my mic and all. It truly is an amazing piece of equipment!
This was so freaking insightful man i love how simple make things for us to digest. People do not put this work in now days and im hyper appreciative of what you do for us. Hope your year is going well and family and friends get to smile
I use mine mostly as a hotkey button when I'm video or podcast editing. It's a lot easier to put my 15 button stream deck in place of my keyboard so I can do things like copy, cut, paste, zoom in and out etc. Although, when I did stream I used it for a soundboard and scene changes sometimes
I am a sim racer and alot of the sim racing community uses it to help tweak the car during a race like to add fuel, change tires and to change how the car drives throughout the race. I do not have on due to financial struggles but it is super helpful.
I have mine set up for scenes, starting and stopping my streams, spinning my wheel, changing cams, Tweeting things out, turning my lights on and off, and mostly for sound bytes of all sorts.
I have a Streamdeck XL and a Mini. I use mine primarily for work productivity (under Linux, not Windows, not macOS). My first page controls all of my applications (Zoom, Meet, Teams, Mattermost, Slack, Discord, Salesforce, etc). A button press will find the app running on any virtual desktop, target it, and then switch to public channels or DMs. For meeting apps, I can mute/unmute, turn on/off my camera, and go from presenter to non-presenter mode. I also control my Govee lights and plugs around the office with the first page. I control the Govee lights via API, and my Sonoff S31 smart plugs via Tasmota open source firmware. The second page of my XL is a dial-by-face PBX for my teammates. The first press launches a DM to that user in our chat system. A second button press (within a second) will dial them via our PBX phone system. The third page controls all of the timers I need for timecards via Timular and Toggl timers. Start/Stop timers via API, launch Toggl desktop, sync via Timular, etc. I also programmed a handful of buttons to stuff in boilerplate (frequently used) text prompts and replies for emails and customer cases. This includes my default email signature as well as some editable standard replies. I have several other pages of useful productivity, business functions for apps and app productivity. I have 10 pages of 32 buttons on my XL (320 actions) and the same 10 pages for my Mini (60). I also use these to control my cameras and OBS scenes for both meetings and livestreaming. This is where most people will be using their Streamdeck. It's a FANTASTIC productivity tool, and I really wish Elgato/Corsair would support Linux with their configuration app, but until then I am using the various open source/community alternatives out there.
I use it for soundcard control, selecting and switching to different audio interfaces, enabling/disabling bluetooth, connecting to bluetooth devices. Media player control, favorite PC folders, browser control and favorite websites, screensaver control, time, stopwatch, counterdowns for keeping my stream/recordings under 1 hour, weather, youtube channel overviews, opening apps, audio visualiser. webcam control (exposure, gamma, saturation etc). volume control, mouse pointer highlight cursor, magnifier, digital mixer, toggle icons on or off and the list goes on. And of course last but not least OBS control.
I'm using a classic stream deck for esports production and definitely do more than change scenes. These vids are awesome thanks mate! The discord volume would be amazing I want the knobs even more now ;) but more so looking at the XL.
I love your content its really like the most youtuber that I can enjoy his content for hours and not being boring for a second. and its not because of the things you show us here, its because of your awesome personality that I might never come to be such as. I just wanna tell you that most of us are too broke to buy the things you bring to the channel or too lazy to do your advices on a constant pattern. but hell we enjoy seeing you talk happy streaming 💚
Just happened by your channel and the editing is spot on, very funny. I don't stream, really but this seems like a great helpful video to those who do.
I make Ham Radio RUclips content and besides using the StreamDeck for changing scenes is controlling Spotify (For Streambeats naturally), A going live Twitter button, Discord mute/unmute, controlling my many many lights, buttons for VoiceMod sound alerts, Swear beep, and buttons to control all my ham radio gear. For example, switching radio bands, I use the Elgato pedal to "key up" the radio mic, switch digital modes on the radio, control my antenna direction. I have the XL and the Plus. Thanks for the great videos!
I love using it for my Spotify and also for shortcuts for apps. It's nice for switching scenes in OBS as well, but I also use it for a Soundboard during streams. Love this thing!
great video as usual. I legit use the + for audio and camera zoom, an XL for moderating my stream and the foot pedals that rn manage my discord. Videos like this give me life and make the money that I invested on these products worth it. Thank you
So I kept my Streamdeck XL in my closet after buying it for over a year. I just got it out a few days ago and am impressed with everything it can do beyond turning my Phillip Hue lights on/off. I setup an FTTT account and am now using it to control my garage doors, my overhead camera, and the Edelkrone JibOne + Sony A7Siii in front of me. Looking forward to doing more with it!
I use it for Elgato light controls, application launches, changing my audio source from headphones to speakers on specific application.. SO much! I love this thing.
I love the Windows mover plugin. So handy when you start up the computer for the first time and you just hit the button and bam, everything you want in its place.
I think the main use for my StreamDeck is a desktop replacement. Instead of filling it up with a ton of shortcuts I have them organized on my StreamDeck and can open them without going back to the desktop. Honestly still need to do more with it. Did have it set up to Moderate the Play with Viewers Twitch Plug-In whether for me streaming, or modding for friends.
So many things, I use it while programming as quick hot keys, to bring up my custom brushes while drawing, to quickly open apps, to manage music while streaming, etc.
stream deck XL, stream deck 2.0, Elgato Pedal that I use for recording and switching scenes while live so I can keep my hands free. Just grabbed the Elgato prompter as well and the things you can do with that, OBS, and a streamdeck are wild. Main uses - content production + Multi-action workflows for multiple recurring projects like you mentioned near the end of the video.
Just started using my so still adding and learning about how to use it/which plugins to get for more functions and stuff. But i use it so far for gaming and recording plus for using it as a sound effects board for during a gaming session of COD DMZ. Still going to ad and chance it overtime because like I said before still learn what you all can do with it plus which plugins to get. Loving it so far even with the beginners issues i had with the software issues/errors but got the best software/gear support from Elgato I never had from other companys i dealt with before so they made a life-time Elgato fan/supporter for the service support that they gave, They want all customers to enjoy their products and help you out if something goes wrong and will help you step by step to getting it fixed! Elgato Stream Deck XL Using Elgato software 6.4.1 because for me version 6.5.0 does'nt work on my PC (Windows 10) even when i went to Windows 11 had the same problem but because of the help from Elgato I now know what to do if i ever have this issue again when i upgrate to the next version after version 6.5.0
right now I'm using 4 streamdecks for my streams but also my workflow, I use the streamdeck for my in car adjustments while simracing, the streamdeckXL for controlling my stream, I use the streamdeck pedals for controlling some replay action while in game, and the streamdeck+ for audio adjustments on the fly. is has improved my workflow. I also use them in video editing or my photography it works amazing. thank you for this video! always looking for more ways to use my streamdecks at the full potential
I got the SD 15 and SD XL, which I just bought last week. The 15 is connected to my StreamPC, and basically will be used for starting/stopping streams, switching scenes, and also tweaking audio if needed. The XL is hooked up to my GamerPC. The top row is basically locked to certain pages. Like page 8 is for Programs. I have a set of basic programs that I want to make sure I run while gaming. I use the Advanced Launcher plugin for this, where I show a dot if the program is running. I can quickly go to that page to make sure everything is running that I need at a quick glance of the icons. Other pages I use for launching games, going to specific (favorited) websites. And since I have multiple monitors, I use the plugin Windows Mover to either move active window to another monitor. But let's say I want to switch a game from my monitor to my TV. A click of a button and it's done. No need to go into like the game settings and say I want it showing on this device.
I'm a tournament caster for a small mobile game - my stream deck allows me to manage scoreboards, update the overlay with team names and logos, and more. I also use it to automate my stream's starting & ending routines (source volumes, music, discord pings)
I have a few multi action buttons setup for different things - Launching all my stream related programs at once, with a single button (huge time saver - Go live, switch scene and run an ad I have a button for a spin the wheel channel point redemption I have Several scene change buttons Timers for various time based channel point redemptions Laugh track and a celebration visual with sound effect A button that activates a slow zoom plugin in OBS whilst playing very motivational and dramatic music That's about it - I'd say the use cases for scene changing is more common and thus used more, but I get good use out of all the other stuff as well
I use it for work and streaming. Mainly mic control for meetings and switching between the headset and speakers. Launching mouse controls to look at battery level. Verifying my plug-ins are working with the Wave mic. And launching most used apps like outlook, chrome, etc.
I use my stream deck a lot for work! quick keys to open up calendars, github in specific views, timers, etc, etc. When I record, its for switching views, voice mods, or quick keys for editing videos
The primary use for my stream deck is actually debugging and navigating code. I also use it to monitor the status of my SSH connections so I can start stop or restart them as needed as well as perform scheduled tasks like popping up a Windows notification to remind me to take a break and go walk the dog. I also play Fallout 4 religiously with hundreds of mods and I have around 80 hot keys (several for Place Everywhere) for various items, actions and scripts tied to a gaming profile. This will let me toggle the free camera, pause the game, adjust the camera speed, and then move the camera around and toggle my ENB effects for the perfect screenshot then quickly resume gameplay. Plus: Voice mod and Discord controls so while I'm streaming my gameplay I can make my character dance and play an audio clip on an event, etc. I'm currently setting it up to use Bitsoft Companion to control my Linux machine which I will be using to do the streaming on a dual PC streaming setup with a single controller while I game on Windows. Bonus: I use the G6 key on my Corsair K100 to swap my Corsair RGB Pro into sniper mode for quick headshots.
I use it for lights and links to websites I use for work. Also great for making start and stop recording. I now will have to buy a couple Phillips power...for cameras. Totally going to setup speedtest too. Helpful video Harrison!
I have a 15 button stream deck. I've never streamed a single second in my life. I use it for productivity work some work things, and I use it to monitor my system cpu/ram/gpu when i'm gaming. It's also fantastic to switch between headset/speakers, mute, volume up/down, monitoring the battery level of my headset, displaying the time and date. Perfect for productivity!
I have 2 Stream Decks now. The 15 button version I have had for a while now, I use for controlling my lighting, for OBS, scenes & I have a page with websites I go to a lot. The stream Deck+ I primarily use for video editing. The knobs are perfect for getting the right position to cut a video. Also, for moving back & forth in the video
I'm blind and I use several accessibility applications on Mac and PC. The hotkey combinations to increase magnification or turn speech on and off can almost tie your fingers in knots. I've set up single-key presses for the common ones. Also very handy to trigger Power Automate flows to do things like open up applications and navigate to specific pages or functions.
my uses for stream deck: #1 scene switching, obvi #2 macro's especially switching PPT/slides without having ppt in focus (seriously a god send) #3 controlling ptz cams #4 volume mixing
I have the Elgato Stream Deck MK.2. I don't even use mine to change scenes haha, but for a lot of other stuff! I use it to mute/unmute mic, change outfits for my vtuber, play sound alerts/animations on stream for fun live editing, adjust audio volume on different apps, and more. It's great!
im using mine primarily for: -muting/deafening in teamspeak and discord -launching specific spotify playlists at a set volume (for consistency) -launching & moving programs into a consistent position -creating clips with shadowplay
I use mine as a series of multi-action buttons. Opening a few apps at a time for MMO gaming with things like FFXIV, or Star Citizen. I have a Music folder for music controls for spotify and another folder for chrome shortcuts that take me straight to some of my favorite URLs like Crunchyroll, RUclips, or D&D Beyond for example. I have a screenshot button and also Window Mover button that moves any active window to a separate monitor with specific dimensions. This is great for my Portrait monitor where I can't "Win + Left" or "Win + Right" to quickly resize/lock programs into half of my monitor. All that with just a 6 button mini!
With the Philips smart plug, a Philips hue bridge is also required for it to pair to a stream deck. Just bought the plug by itself and found out the hard way. FYI for anybody that didn't know
I've just got the one stream deck+ Use it primarily for my OBS setup and wavelink. Did you know: You can set dial stacks and wave link input actions to change the individual volume of both your monitor mix and stream mix? 3 Actions on one dial *knob Monitor Mix - Input Stream Mix - Input All - Input and you can switch between the three by pressing in the knob or tapping the screen to mute them on the fly!
I also like to use mine for simple stuff such as opening up my games at the click of a button, opening up websites i constantly use, and even one that instantly connects/disconnects me to the Discord voice channel I am normally using
I went full BEACN and I'm not regretting that decision. HOWEVER, I loved this video and I smile everytime you get excited about your tech. Thanks, Senpai. KNOBS!
I have 3 (underutilized) decks, my original 15 button deck in black, the newer 15 button in white and the Plus. I have a 5 camera setup for streaming Go using a floor goban to mirror the games played on OGS (online Go server). I use my decks primarily for scene switching, but also Key Lights, opening websites, and FaceCam controls. I use the multi action for building intro and outro graphics to my videos. I recently build a new computer for video editing with Davinci Resolve, but haven’t gotten around to setting up buttons and knobs on the Plus for that yet (soon). Enjoy your content and presentation.
Scene switching totally. But I do also use it for: - Slide switching - I created shortcuts for Adobe apps instead of using my keyboard. - MS Teams control
Oxford definitions: knobs - a round handle on a door or a drawer. a round lump on the surface or end of something dials - the face of a clock or watch, or a similar control on a machine, piece of equipment or vehicle that shows a measurement of time, amount, speed, temperature, etc.
I use my stream deck to open websites and programs I use a lot for certain games. Like With Destiny 2 I have a multi action that will open DIM and Destiny Recipes. I also now use it to move items in Destiny as well. I can turn on and off farming mode I can see how full my vault and postmaster are. I have a multiaction that opens OBS and all the programs I use and move them to the correct location, change the power settings to high performance, and turns on my lights. When I end stream I have it automatically run a 90 sec ad, turn off my lights, then end stream after the ad is done running. My favorite is a multi action that changes my main display to my 4k tv mounted above my monitors and changes the primary sound to go play though the TV for when I want to sit back and do some couch co-op games with my son. Then I have another multi action to switch everything back to my main display and sound to go through my goxlr.
I really like these knobs, sorry Elgato I mean the dails. These greate things are out now for a while and I am still waiting for two I think simple but great functionalitys. 1) I would like to use the dails to rotate through pages of the Streamdeck plus or even other pages. 2) I would like to define stacks / tables of singel or multi actions. With the dails I would like to rotate up and down (and in a loop) through all the actions in that table. The name of the actual selected action is always shown/rotating in the dieplay above the dail. When I have selected the right (multi)action I want to run that (multi)action by a press of that dail. As an example: Having a stack with different light scenes. Every scene is a multi action, that sets the color and intensity of my lights. (Maybe: Job, RUclips, Course-Recording, Off). Now I can easily select all my light scenes with just one dail. (I think this functionality is a little bit like opening a folder from a button.) So please add these two features - that would be so great, @elgato
Yes, I use my 15-key Stream Deck to change scenes, but also to send certain messages in chat, open programs or games I regularly play, play sound effects, and more. Used to use to in set camera filters and turn them off and on, but now that SnapCam is gone, no more of that LOL (it ate up CPU anyway). But there are a ton of good ideas here I want to implement as soon as I get my PC back up and running again.
I use my Stream Deck XL mainly for Final Fantasy XIV. The top two rows are dedicated to switching my class/job to whatever button I press. The third and fourth row have other useful in game shortcuts, various mute buttons (mic into OBS, mic into Discord and Discord into OBS), Hue light controls and my OBS scenes. So yeah, I'm using mine extensively. XD
Random use I found: I use it to make lead sheets when I have to make one from scratch with metadata. I can just set a text buttons on the stream deck with whatever chords I need in a song, and then push the button to add text like [C#] or [Esus]. I even have a folder for various keys setup so when I need to make a new song, I just load it up and get to editing. Saves me a little time by clicking where I need the chord and just hitting the button instead of copying and pasting whichever one I need at the time.
I've got the Mk2 (Christmas present from my wife) I think it is probably the most useful bit of gear for my PC that I've ever owned. Premiere, Blender, Photoshop - so many shortcuts. Using Media Player in the school theater - previous, next, play/pause and "bring media player into focus" in case I click outside it by accident. Just being able to control the laptop from my left hand without having to use the mousepad - joyous! Word - so many shortcuts OBS - obviously. Sometimes I make videos to teach my students things. I basically now don't have to edit the videos anymore. Scenes set up to zoom in on certain parts of the screen, cued from the streamdeck. Almost ANY repetitive task - multi action buttons. There's little that I can't program a macro for. I have the same option on my mouse, but it's SO much easier to do on the streamdeck. Pretty much every day I'm finding a new use for it. And because of different profiles and pages/folders, I don't have to pick and choose what I have available. It's just brilliant. WISH I could hook up my smarthome stuff to it, but I'm Xiaomi all the way and you can only use the app, pretty much.
I made a custom recording studio that allows the computer to be in one room and anyone can go in, press one button to turn on the camera, lights, confidence monitor, then record, go live, screenshare etc. But not only that, it’s all connected to a Dropbox folder that I get instantly so I can edit and upload in a few min from them stopping their recording. A lot of other custom stuff like overlays, a bookmark button that has audio time stamps (so I don’t need to scrub through to look for mistakes), a screenshot button for thumbnails, etc. My company has been able to put out RUclips videos pretty much daily because it’s all done in the studio and requires very little editing. Building another one of these studios for another company soon too. OBS and a Streamdeck has not only made my workflow so much better, but it’s become another form of income as well (for building setups for businesses)
I don't stream anymore, but thinking of getting into it again. I use my stream deck to open up all my work tabs and control my zoom meetings (starting up my zoom meetings with power points, etc., and lighting). I also use it to control my goxlr when I'm having a zoom meeting or gaming. Finally, I have it to open up everything I use to play Tarkov (flee market info, maps, and the game). With my Mac set up, it's very similar but doesn't control the volume and audio outputs that well. The stream deck + could fix the issues I have had controlling the audio on my Mac Mini.
1 Setting up my room for streaming This includes light on/off, sound output, opening sites in browser, mute Discord/TS and moves windows to front or background 2 Stream control Scenes ofc Cam on/off, mute audio sources, play ads, turn on ventilation for my room, play sound effects, save replays with OBS relay buffer, switch from desktop capture to game capture, turn alerts off and on, chat messages presets and moving windows to front or background 3 Light control All lighting in my room. Ceiling is Hue, Nano Leafs and the cat grass station lamp goes with a Hue smart socket. So does the room ventilation. I am using Touch Portal tho but same deal. ;)
For work we have twelve 32 button stream decks. I stream roughly 200+ college sports a year. I use two 32 stream decks per stream (plus an Xbox controller) with vMix. The left deck is my control deck. Switching 8 buttons for cameras (4 program and 4 preview), 8 buttons for replay and the rest are other helpful buttons. The right are for my graphics. I can use live game stats in conjunction with Excel and it takes two buttons on stream deck to cut 4-5 seconds out of the process (rather than spend thousands on automated software).
Aside from streaming, I'm a professional artist/graphics designer and I use it for a lot of art program-related hotkeys as well as fast shortcuts to certain frequently used folders. I also use it constantly for things like moving windows around my monitors and/or pinning them, swapping between my headset and speakers, quickly emptying my recycle bin, screen captures, automatically killing and restarting certain fussy programs, locating my mouse and so much more To say nothing of my super macros. I have one singular macro for when I'm preparing for streaming that opens all of my streaming socials at once, opens Twitch, auto-sets my audio to my headset, opens OBS, fixes my webcam settings, and moves the windows to their appropriate monitors. All with ONE button. And once I get ahold of those wifi plugs you talk about my lights will be added into the super macro. Each command in the super macro is separated by an action delay. And just to be cheeky and immature once the setup is complete it alerts me with a fart reverb sound. It's improved my quality of life and productivity 1000x and I consider it one of the best investments I've made. I currently have a classic 15 key stream deck and I absolutely intend to add a 32 key and am also considering getting one of the knobby-boy versions. MORE MACROS VISIBLE AT ONCE. UNLIMITED POWER.
Used to use it from streaming, but now its job 90% of the time is Window management on my system for organising my workspace and moving windows across screens easily. I plan to expand it further with certain workflows I do while programming and scripting specific tools and container management features eventually.
I use my streamdeck primarily to adjust audio on the fly (since I hadn't invested in a GO XLR or dedicated audio mixer), lighting, toggle OBS source visibility, & chat command shortcuts.
Biggest tool for my Adobe Illustrator flow. No more hitting two or three buttons for a shortcut. boom Flying through layers and moving things front to back. Just amazing all around. Oh yea, and the abilities for streaming lol.
The audio software with the Stream Deck + is a game changer and has been my primary use. Mixing that with control over Discord, sound effects, and shortcuts in editing software, I’m officially in the group that has discovered the Stream Deck isn’t just for streaming!
Still rockin' the classic 3x5 Stream Deck model over here. Aside from scene switching, I also set it up with a Launch button that opens up most of the little tools I need when it's go-live time (OBS, Spotify, Mix It Up, Twitch Fishing...), but most of my space on there is dedicated to Voicemod soundboard & voice changer buttons. Never know when you're gonna need a well-timed rimshot or vine boom live on stream 💀
I use mine to launch games, manage voicemeeter outputs, put my monitors to sleep, open gaming wikis, joining discord channels (and leaving them), muting or deafening discord, turning game audio on/off as needed. I guess I stream sometimes, but mainly use it for tasks that I do all the time and don't want to swap windows constantly.
Alright, it's time. What Stream Decks do you have and what do you use your buttons for?
well i have been using EVERY stream deck video you got to set up mine i have it to change scenes.......and clip my twitch stream create markers for later use manage my discord turn on and off certain voice channels and voice mods start and stop my Spotify playing you guessed it streambeats by this awesome youtuber... hmm cant seem to remember his name anyway all that and a few fine tuning buttons for when i edit my clips and upload them to tiktok anything i missed Mr.
Stream Deck and im ashamed to say that i barely stream and i use it maybe 2 or 3 times a stream to hit like 2 buttons😂
I'm renting but I totally hate this wall in here. It's coming down
😂😂😂

A good thing to note, is that many Stream Deck plugins run as an application on the background (you can find them from task manager etc.). So having many installed might affect the computers performance.
1. Viewer count button
2. Plugin showing who's live so I can just use that to raid into them
3. CPU usage
4. One page showing different time zones and weather
5. Magic 8ball to show on stream as a channel point redemption
Never realized the speediest plugin before this.
Great video. Thanks for constantly going above and beyond to help us all be better streamers
i dont know how i feel about youtubers i watch interact 🤣
Seriously golden information
You look like a Ryan Reynolds doppelganger. great video! thanks for the input on the streamdeck plus. definitly picking one of these up for christmas
Scott, your editing is becoming Harris' side kick. Harris is up here talking about Stream decks and you edit in little zingers and what not. I really enjoy your editing style. Keep up the good work.
I'm on the other side, I absolutely hate it.
Holy moly, I just wanna give props to this smooth and perfect video editing. Very well done!
Where are these plug-ins? I don't see many in the Elgato place. I would very much appreciate it
This was so freaking insightful man i love how simple make things for us to digest.
Knobs
I like knobs ( ͡° ل͜ ͡°)
Thank you HH for another awesome, informative video!
I just wanna tell you that most of us are too broke to buy the things you bring to the channel or too lazy to do your advices on a constant pattern. but hell we enjoy seeing you talk
happy streaming 💚
Bru ? HOW THE FLIP I BEEN LIVING ALL MY LIFE WITHOUT A STREAM DECK DAWGGG! THIS VIDEO BLOW MY MIND. Thank you partner
Stream Deck Plus. Fantastic job as always! Spectacular plug-ins and ideas. Thank you!!
Elgato Stream Deck XL
Using Elgato software 6.4.1 because for me version 6.5.0 does'nt work on my PC (Windows 10) even when i went to Windows 11 had the same problem but because of the help from Elgato I now know what to do if i ever have this issue again when i upgrate to the next version after version 6.5.0
right now I'm using 4 streamdecks for my streams but also my workflow, I use the streamdeck for my in car adjustments while simracing, the streamdeckXL for controlling my stream, I use the streamdeck pedals for controlling some replay action while in game, and the streamdeck+ for audio adjustments on the fly. is has improved my workflow.
I have a few multi action buttons setup for different things
- Launching all my stream related programs at once, with a single button (huge time saver
- Go live, switch scene and run an ad
I have a button for a spin the wheel channel point redemption I have
Several scene change buttons
Timers for various time based channel point redemptions
Laugh track and a celebration visual with sound effect
A button that activates a slow zoom plugin in OBS whilst playing very motivational and dramatic music
That's about it - I'd say the use cases for scene changing is more common and thus used more, but I get good use out of all the other stuff as well
I use it for work and streaming.
Brand new. Haven’t even connected it yet. Seems outstanding. You have a great channel.
Followed 75% because of the way you edit your vids. Thanks for all of the info!!!
Very useful video. Fun personality! Before the video ended I got new icon library options before the video even ended LUL
Also very handy to trigger Power Automate flows to do things like open up applications and navigate to specific pages or functions.
my uses for stream deck:
#1 scene switching, obvi
#2 macro's especially switching PPT/slides without having ppt in focus (seriously a god send)
#3 controlling ptz cams
#4 volume mixing
I have the Elgato Stream Deck MK.2. I don't even use mine to change scenes haha, but for a lot of other stuff! I use it to mute/unmute mic, change outfits for my vtuber, play sound alerts/animations on stream for fun live editing, adjust audio volume on different apps, and more. It's great!
im using mine primarily for:
-muting/deafening in teamspeak and discord
-launching specific spotify playlists at a set volume (for consistency)
-launching & moving programs into a consistent position
-creating clips with shadowplay
I just plugged mine in yesterday and I use mine for sounds, and multitasks (which I am looking more into) Thank you for this great breakdown.
I run an e-comm photo studio and we use one on each photo station to control the Capture One software
With the Philips smart plug, a Philips hue bridge is also required for it to pair to a stream deck. Just bought the plug by itself and found out the hard way. FYI for anybody that didn't know
I've just got the one stream deck+
Use it primarily for my OBS setup and wavelink.
Did you know:
You can set dial stacks and wave link input actions to change the individual volume of both your monitor mix and stream mix?
3 Actions on one dial *knob
Monitor Mix - Input
Stream Mix - Input
All - Input
and you can switch between the three by pressing in the knob or tapping the screen to mute them on the fly!
Legit just bought this to replace my GoXLR cause of your last video/setup. You couldnt have timed this video any more PERFECTLY!
I also like to use mine for simple stuff such as opening up my games at the click of a button, opening up websites i constantly use, and even one that instantly connects/disconnects me to the Discord voice channel I am normally using
Got a stream deck today, thanks to your influence. Unfortunately I am not in the US so I couldn't use your link, but it's still thanks to you! 🤘🏻
I went full BEACN and I'm not regretting that decision. HOWEVER, I loved this video and I smile everytime you get excited about your tech. Thanks, Senpai.
KNOBS!
spotify, multi window open tab, etc love the vids homie!
We use streamdeck primarily with Companion to control vMix inputs and layers, PTZ presets and BlackMagic Constellation configs.
Scene switching totally. But I do also use it for:
- Slide switching
- I created shortcuts for Adobe apps instead of using my keyboard.
- MS Teams control
Oxford definitions:
knobs - a round handle on a door or a drawer. a round lump on the surface or end of something
dials - the face of a clock or watch, or a similar control on a machine, piece of equipment or vehicle that shows a measurement of time, amount, speed, temperature, etc.
(I think this functionality is a little bit like opening a folder from a button.)
So please add these two features - that would be so great, @elgato
I use it to launch my apps and as a sound board. Keeps my class entertained when teaching.
I primarliy use my Streamdeck automation at my desk. Raise/lower desk, lighting control, switching between speakers and headphones, things like that.
Hey Harris how many pages of buttons can you have on this thing? Thanks for another dope video.
Word - so many shortcuts
OBS - obviously.
Do you know of any plugins that will work with the Logitech litra glow LED lights?
I don't stream anymore, but thinking of getting into it again. I use my stream deck to open up all my work tabs and control my zoom meetings (starting up my zoom meetings with power points, etc., and lighting). I also use it to control my goxlr when I'm having a zoom meeting or gaming. Finally, I have it to open up everything I use to play Tarkov (flee market info, maps, and the game). With my Mac set up, it's very similar but doesn't control the volume and audio outputs that well. The stream deck + could fix the issues I have had controlling the audio on my Mac Mini.
1 Setting up my room for streaming
This includes light on/off, sound output, opening sites in browser, mute Discord/TS and moves windows to front or background
2 Stream control
Scenes ofc
Cam on/off, mute audio sources, play ads, turn on ventilation for my room, play sound effects, save replays with OBS relay buffer, switch from desktop capture to game capture, turn alerts off and on, chat messages presets and moving windows to front or background
3 Light control
All lighting in my room.
I also use it constantly for things like moving windows around my monitors and/or pinning them, swapping between my headset and speakers, quickly emptying my recycle bin, screen captures, automatically killing and restarting certain fussy programs, locating my mouse and so much more
To say nothing of my super macros.
Your nail color looks really cool :) I'm happy to see men doing this these days
Used to use it from streaming, but now its job 90% of the time is Window management on my system for organising my workspace and moving windows across screens easily. I plan to expand it further with certain workflows I do while programming and scripting specific tools and container management features eventually.
I use my streamdeck primarily to adjust audio on the fly (since I hadn't invested in a GO XLR or dedicated audio mixer), lighting, toggle OBS source visibility, & chat command shortcuts.
Hell yes man… great video and I’m now considering grabbing one of those decks because of these capabilities 🤘🤘
I use the orig stream deck for everything, streaming, video creation, and Star Citizen......and now I have a SD+, and loving it
that Apollo 13 clip was gold!
Using the color dropper plugin is a life saver for anyone in the creative/design space
