I just got mine today, and so far I absolutely love it. It's just a lot of setup so far, but it's setting it up to be my new personal device for everything
There are two ways to deal with this: 1, the basic accessible option: set hotkeys in your target program, and assign these hotkeys to the "Dial Stack" option, or 2, the complicated but better universal option: learn an automation program like autohotkey, and feed the same hotkeys into that software for more complex and difficult tasks. I know #2 is especially rough, but at least it exists :/
We need a 16 knob or 32 knob version of this for mini controller of vst synths! This is the company to serve it up! They already got the tech and now an example of what 'could be'! The lack of midi controllers with dedicated per knob feedback is overwhelming. The ones we do have cost as much as a dedicated synth!!! It's very cheap tech. You'll want to utilize Wave Link to do so. Here's Elgato's guide on that help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045679072-Wave-Link-Dual-PC-Streaming-Send-Sound-to-a-Streaming-PC-from-the-Gaming-PC
Hey man question for ya, since a lot of headsets have seperate channels for game vs chat now, are you still able to output to both of those channels indepently?
Simultaneously? Not really. But to control what audio goes to which of those sources? Yes. I demonstrate that with a plugin called Sound deck, linked in Short in the pinned comment
I feel like I'm the only person on the internet that doesn't understand how Wave Link works. All the videos I've watched and articles I've read are like Greek to me. I have never messed with any type of audio interface or software before so I'm going in blind, but even for me it seems like so many steps and I'm kinda lost. If anyone could recommend a really in depth guide and give me some pointers, I'd be so grateful.
I never touched anything like it, hardware or software-wise, before I started doing RUclips. Threw myself into the fire I guess. Just a matter of using it to better understand it. If you are having trouble making sense of it from a POV where you're not actually using it, it's gonna be difficult
For streaming and content creation I brought my grandsons a streamdeck xl, a streamdeck plus and a wave XLR. Should I have considered any other options?
There are certainly other options but that being said, all those mesh together nicely and are good products. Maybe the wave XLR wasn't necessary if he already has an XLR interface since the stream deck plus gives Wave Link access, but either way it's a solid set of gear
@@CoalitionGaming no interface for his XLR mic. He bought it before we decided on Elgato. I appreciate your replying. I feel much much better now 😁👍 We're happy to be new subscribers.
Would I be able to use this in order to queue up sound effects during my live podcast? I'd like to add samples and random effects while live recording my podcast and I'm wondering if I'd be able to do that with this deck and if it's super simple to set up? I'd also like to know if all the sound/volume/mute will work with an external audio interface such as a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 audio interface? I host live podcasts but I'd also like to be able to find some perfect ways to use it while recording new music in FL Studio for example. Hopefully someone can reply and let me know. Thanks in advance!
I'd also like to know if this device can be used without even using OBS or streaming software? Like could I control volume on my PC and everything else it's capable of even if I'm just sitting back watching RUclips or Netflix etc? Sorry, I'm a 40 year old "BOOMER" and I've never owned or seen one of the older versions of this Stream Deck before!
@@Mista808 OBS is not required to use this at all. It works via the elgato stream deck software and wave Link software. Yes you can use it to play sounds and effects. As far as routing to external mixers, this has no outputs so you can do it with hardware or a cable, but you could get creative with sound input/output devices and utilize your PCs line in/out stuff maybe. Couldn't tell you specifically how to do that though.
nice review. the product idea is nice but it does not seem to bring extra value for someone that has the xl edition. xl has volume controls and many more buttons. am I missing something?
Well I never said it was better or worse than any of the other stream decks since that will depend on preference and use case, but to address the question at the end of your comment: yes it sounds like you missed everything that I covered about the touchscreen and the knob functionalites. Also check out the Shorts about the Stream deck+ linked at the end of this video as additional benefits are detailed there.
Thanks I will check the shorts. I was watching the video from the perspective of someone that owns another device and thinking about buying this one. The swiping to go to other pages is nice feature. elgato can do app specific pages and with the xl i got plenty of other buttons to make folders in folders or app specific ones. It also has the app mixer wave thing to control app volumes. I understand that the video is not a comparison and this is not critique to the nice review you did just unrelated thoughts for someone who has a different product. I am sure the dial can be helpful for specific tasks maybe moving through timeline or something. I guess that what I was wondering about when I asked if I was missing something. those niche features that bring value and others can't.@@CoalitionGaming
