As an audio engineer/gear head, I had to check this out since I had no idea what a stream deck was. Now I do, thanks! Q - Is the idea that the Stream Deck software hijacks various apps audio path so you could have say, Spotify, RUclips, Browser, and Discord all outputting audio but the Stream Deck allows you to control what goes where? Eg. Can you send Spotify output to ppl watching your stream, but you in the room, can listen to the output of RUclips or PS5 without them interfering w each other? Q - What are you listening thru in the room? I don't see speakers. Q- Do you use an external audio mixer that takes feeds from the PS5, PC output, Mic in, cam audio out, etc? Or is all your audio handled via PC I/o? Q - Can you record your stream as video with a custom audio blend that's different than what you prefer to listen to while streaming? Sorry for all the questions! Great vid thanks! Also, first comment cheers
1. Yeah, it creates virtual channels so you can point any application to whatever channel you want and control them separately. Yes, you can have stream listen to spotify and not the game sounds etc, however for this you will need the Elgato Wave Link software, which comes free with any elgato wave mic and wave xlr interface. 2. I only use headphones. If I want to listen to music I just play it through a bluetooth speaker or through TV (but i rarely do that, I'm a always headphones guy) 3. I do use a Wave XLR, but it only takes my mic input and gives me output for headphones. The PS5 sound basically goes into my PC's line in port. In short, mostly everything is handled by my PC. 4. Yes, the Wave Link software supports submixing. Hopefully I understood everything and managed to answer. =)
That's an awe-inspiring amount of actions that you've configured! One that you may find less exciting, that I'm curious about is the Playstation action. Does that actually toggle your monitor's input? I'm curious if that could be done by anyone or is it some specific hardware you have to do that? (nevermind I see you've already answered that). This is a really great video. Thank you for sharing!
Also wanted to say, I was skeptical about the newer Stream Deck with the knobs, but I may be sold on that now. I didn't realize how much versatility it had, and how much support there was for it. I have Stream Deck XL now which is amazing, but that may be a nice compliment.
just bought the stream deck xl and the 4k x capture card they look great and so many uses. the stream deck + looks good addition. my old pc is not fast enough so upgrading to new x870 motherboard with usb 4 and usb 3.2 gen 2 to get faster transfer for capture video. supprised you not bigger chan as you have some good videos. all the best from england. the shorts videos seem to get more views too
wow... good stuff... can you show how you set up Wave link into obs?? i just got my Stream Deck + and Wave XLR and im still figuring out how to route everything... def have inspired me
Ah right.. its pretty customizable so you can add whatever you want/need. In OBS just add the Stream Mix as your mic source and headphones as monitor to get the basics done. Everything else you can control on Wave Link. You can go forward from this and separate your mic and music channel but that's more complicated.
I have a HDMI switcher and from that I have an aux cable going to PC Line In port. In the windows Line in options I’ve set it to link to Game audio channel. Sounds confusing, I’ll probably make a video answering all the questions.
If you want to record just your main canvas then I believe you can turn on Replay Buffer and assign a hot key. The way I have it setup is that it records the vertical canvas for YT shorts etc and I am using a plugin called Aitum Vertical.
This was a really cool and informative video! One question that I had; when you clicked on your Discord button and it showed all the soundboard buttons on the current stream deck, but then showed the other buttons (mute and deafen) on the stream deck plus - how did you do that?
My monitor has 2 HDMI inputs and I switch between them. I use an app called ControlMyMonitor to get monitor values and in Stream Deck I use a multi action switch with "open" action to open the ControlMyMonitor app with the following arguments: ["C:\Users\Hert\OneDrive\Documents\ControlMyMonitor\ControlMyMonitor.exe" /SetValue "\\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0" 60 18] and another "open" action with ["C:\Users\Hert\OneDrive\Documents\ControlMyMonitor\ControlMyMonitor.exe" /SetValue "\\.\DISPLAY1\Monitor0" 60 17] arguments. The last number (17 & 18) are the corresponding HDMI ports. The values will be different based on what monitor and setup you have but you should be able to edit it very easily. It seems complicated but it is actually pretty simple.

how did you change the channels with the buttons? i have a stream deck plus and im trying to figure out how you were able to move the source from music to browser
How did you do the window resizer and mover thing where your browser and discord maximizes and the other button makes discord and the browers on top of each other and the other one reverses it?
I think every sound channel in obs eat kb from your video quality. For best video quality the way is to use only 1 sound channel from elgato wave. If im wrong tell me
There is an easier way to change brightness now thanks to a plugin called WinTools

@@HertWasHereThe Wave Link software now comes with the StreamDeck+, apparently.
Oh that’s cool if true
Your video helped me a lot, I found it very complete. thanks
You should probably rename the title here. Instead of saying "how to optimize Stream Deck..." you should title it "This is my StreamDeck setup...
We all got the same buttons and options, idk what he is thinking lol
this video will cost me a lot of money ;p nice video and great explanations below .. tx for answering all questions!

@awright18 I think the XL goes nicely with the SD+.

Awesome video with some great ideas, quick question how did you set spotify to different wave link channels with just a press of a button?
Plugin called Sound Deck
Great video! They are very cool devices. Also where did you get the cool Home Alone wallpaper?
Thanks! It’s from an app called Wallpaper Engine on Steam.
Thank you.
Interesting things, would indeed love to know how you set up some of these things :)
Coming soon!
Great shout out to the nutty. Dude is king.
How did you do the playstation switch????
wow... good stuff... can you show how you set up Wave link into obs?? i just got my Stream Deck + and Wave XLR and im still figuring out how to route everything... def have inspired me
You need to download the Wave Link plugin from the Elgato plugin shop in stream deck.
yeha i got that installed... just figuring out what the inputs and outputs should be on windows, and OBS for the different sources thx!@@HertWasHere

How can different apps be added to the four sections like PS5 to Game? And how do you switch between PC and PS5?
I have another video answering these questions. You will find the answer there.
Good video - Are you using the native stream deck software for control?
Yeah, native software with plugins, all available on the official plugin store. (All are free)
I see so many videos on what people have but I’m trying to find a vid on the most optimal way to use it for basic streaming.
Where you get the gold knobs from?
Elgato website
Can you explain how you get your audio from your ps5 to the pc? Is it through hdmi?
I have a HDMI switcher and from that I have an aux cable going to PC Line In port. In the windows Line in options I’ve set it to link to Game audio channel. Sounds confusing, I’ll probably make a video answering all the questions.
What is the first plugin where u show your gpu && cpu usage

Hi! How you record last 30 seconds of your monitor with the press of a button? Thats awesome.
If you want to record just your main canvas then I believe you can turn on Replay Buffer and assign a hot key. The way I have it setup is that it records the vertical canvas for YT shorts etc and I am using a plugin called Aitum Vertical.
@@HertWasHere replay buffer is a plugin?
@nanoblog it is built in to OBS.
@@HertWasHere ohh.. thanks! Im using Ecamm Live not Obs, thats why I didnt know about that replay buffer 👍
This was a really cool and informative video! One question that I had; when you clicked on your Discord button and it showed all the soundboard buttons on the current stream deck, but then showed the other buttons (mute and deafen) on the stream deck plus - how did you do that?
It is a multi action that switches profiles on both stream decks. I have a "Discord" profile for both of them.
@@HertWasHere thank you for replying to my comment, and also replying to it in your recent video as well! 😀

How have you run your ps5 audio through the wave link software?

is there a govee plugin? hwo did you get your govee lights to work with it
Yes, there is a Govee plugin. Works wonderfully.
where did you find the icon for your monitor controls folder?
It's an icon from Nuttys icon pack available on his patreon.
ohh okay. do you have to subscribe to his patreon in order to get the icon or can you just pay whatever it is to get the icon pack?
How did you do the buttons where browser and discord switch positions on the monitor that they're on?
I made another video about it. You can find it on my channel.
wait how to set up the monitor brightness control??
I answered detailed in another comment. In short I’m using an app called ControlMyMonitor
the first one where it sets the audio output. How do I do that?
Plugin called Sound Deck
Thank you!@@HertWasHere
how did you do the cam effects near the end of your vid?
SnapCamera
how you change de inputs on monitor to change from pc for ps5?
My monitor has 2 HDMI inputs and I switch between them.
