MVP... *drops mic* you sir are my hero. I have a small group of dads and we are getting into the world of streaming to go along with our COD additions lol. Anyway, we are all console gamers and have been hitting roadblock after road block with really working the streams out and getting it all dialed in. You really have done the leg work here... the extra cables and splits have been things I've read about across reddit and other posts, but could never "drive it home". This all makes total sense. The separation of the sources by pushing the audio over to the monitor to isolate... *boom* solves that horrible echo and gives me more control over it in OBS. I have a quadcast running into the PC via USB as my second mic to actually talk to the stream... and already had the chat link, but I've used your links for the splitters. Again bro... this is like you just handed me a gold bar... thank you. Anyway sir... thank you for this video and what you do. I will get my squad to pull you up and add some subs to your channel. Good luck on the journey. Eric the GOAT! *New Channel Name*
@@ErictheInadequate 15:05... is that TRRS or a TRS extension cable you are running into the PC from the headphone split or does it matter at that point since it is just the headphone audio coming through at that point??? IE... I'd need to extend off the headphone split and run that into the speaker jack on my pc (I don't run speakers on the PC... normally just a headset)... so essentially I need to get the headphone audio into the pc... just making sure if it needs to be TRS or TRRS and then I'm running into "speakers in", "headphones in", or "Line In". My 2 splitter cables show up tomorrow but I'm thinking I'm going to need either a TRS or TRRS female to male 3.5mm extension along with this to reach the pc.
@@MightyMoeGaming If you just need to extend the pc audio into your headset/headphones, the cable should just be a TRS connection. For example, in the video, I use a 3.5mm male-to-female TRS stereo extension cable to get the OBS audio to the headset. The TRS to TRRS converter cable is just so the PS5/chat link cable can pick up the mic output from the headset splitter, as the PS5 controller only uses TRRS input for the headset mic. I believe the first two rings on the TRRS cable are for stereo only, and the last two are for the microphone, which is why you need the TRS to TRRS converter cable. I have a completely different setup because I use an audio interface, and I want to separate my audio into multiple tracks in OBS. I still connect everything to the chat link cable like the video says; the only difference is that I don’t connect the stereo to the pc speakers. Instead, I connect it to the audio interface and the chat link cable to the microphone input on the pc. Then on the PS5, I change the “audio output” to the controller, but on the “output to headphones,” I change it to “Voice Chat Audio.” This allows me to create another audio source in OBS to control and record the voice chat separately from the game audio, my microphone audio, and anything else I have going to stream. I may make another video on this. I looked up your microphone, and it seems to be a USB mic. If it is, and you are trying to separate everything like me, a small audio mixer could help (it does not need to be expensive) since you already have a USB microphone. I would still connect everything as I wrote above. The difference would be that the PC audio out monitoring in OBS would go to the speakers/headset, but this would go to one of the mixer inputs. Then connect the XR1 pro audio out to another input on the mixer, and then connect your headphones/headset stereo from the splitter to the output on the mixer. Hopefully, I did not make things more complicated here for you, and I was able to answer your question. I have provided some links as examples. I appreciate your wanting to use my affiliate links, but it is not needed. I only use them to show what I use and to shorten the links. @@ErictheInadequate pulling the chat link audio to its own channel would definitely be the way I want to go. Thanks so much for the responses and heck yeah man a video on the separation would be awesome for a lot of us in this area.
You are an absolute life saver. I have been trying to figure this out for days googling and in one video you potential solve my audio lag and the ability to hear everything through one mic. As a side note if I don't want to hear myself speak would I just turn that to output only or is that not an option ?
So glad I came across this video I have a question how would I use this capture card with a usb headset I have the razer kitty pro I hope you respond thank you !😊
If you want to monitor the PC audio and game audio. You would have to use the headset with the PC and send card audio to the headset through audio settings. Or you can monitor the audio through OBS on the PC.
So I'm needing a cable extender to hook up & reach to the back of my computer. I couldn't find the extender on your list of parts & was wondering what stereo cable extender you recommend. Thank you & awesome video.
Thank you for this! I recently have been getting into streaming from my PS5. One problem that i'm running into is that my ps5 is not recognizing my headphone mic. It only is showing the controller mic and I'm not sure how to fix that?
I ran into the same problem with both of my controllers. I cleaned both of my controller cable input, however I ended up having to purchase new TRRS cables and that ended up clearing it for me.
There's not a whole lot of video tutorials about the EVGA XR1 Pro so thank you for this upload. Ive been recording my gameplay with this capture card for a few months with only 1 headset. No monitoring, just trusting that it records my voice. My girlfriend and I are starting to play more games together, so I ended up getting another headset and a splitter so we can hear the PS5 and record both of our voices. However I can't monitor our voices through the headset. I have cheap Razor headsets so we can hear ourselves past the headsets if we talk loud enough. I've recently bought a Blue Yeti X microphone to capture our voices that way and hopefully be able to monitor our voices through the headset. I've been able to set it up where I can hear the game and external microphone through my headset, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to record the audio from the PS5 and the external microphone to a video file. Do you still suggest using all those different cables/adapters and 2nd mic (which I don't have) just so I can monitor are voices through the headset? Or is that only for live streaming with online friends? If not, any suggestions on how to hook everything up? Thanks.
The setup in this video would be more for monitoring your live stream and being able to chat with console players. I do a live stream with my daughter, and we use the Blue Yeti; it is not the X, but it should still be the same. We connect a 3.5mm stereo splitter to the yeti headphone output and monitor the stream, which should be the same if you are recording. In OBS Studio, go to Settings > Audio > Global Audio Devices > under Mic/Auxiliary Audio select the yeti x, then scroll down to and select the yeti x for your "Monitoring Device" and check the box that says "Disable Windows audio ducking" and click then OK. At this point, you should be able to monitor all your sources in OBS through the yeti. To hear what you are monitoring/sending into OBS through the yeti x in the "Audio Mixer window," click on the three dots to any of the sources (mic/Aux) and select expand the window and under the "Audio Monitoring" drop-down select "Monitor and Output" for each source you want to hear. Also, make sure at least track 1 is checked for each source you want to record. This should get you going. If not, let me know. If I have time this coming week, I can make a video.
@@ErictheInadequate Thanks for the response. After following some of your steps and fiddling around with the settings I did get it working. However if you have time to make a video of it, I would greatly appreciate it. Curious how someone with more knowledge than me would set it up and if for whatever reason someone changes my setting. I have something to watch and get it going again. Not too interested in live streaming and chatting with friends, just recording gameplay and the blue yeti. Thanks again!
Hey i purchased the mic in your description and it did not come with any chords just the base mic how would i set this up for streaming like you have in this video Great video by the way
Awesome setup video ! Has to be the best on youtube when it comes to setting up the EVGA XR1, thank you. I seem to be encounting an issue though. I am using a laptop setup with a hub port so I can support all the USB 3 ports I need for my setup. When I have everything set up the issue I'm having is a buzzing noise that my capture card keeps picking up. I do not know where it is coming from and tried trouble shooting by adding filters on OBS but it makes the audio capture not as great with the filters. Any idea on why I keep encountering this buzzing noise ? OBS shows it coming from my XR1 pro capture card. Mind you I have the chat link pro on board as well, I just want to get rid of this constant buzzing noise obs is picking up from the capture card.
Thanks, I’ll try to help as best I can. We need to narrow down to see what is introducing the buzz. Question for you is to a buzz or a hum? Also, Some USB hubs create this issue, so I would try to plug in the XR1 pro by itself to the PC. The XR1 pro has 2 USB A connectors. The USB 3.2 (blue) transfers the data the other (white) is just for extra power. You can also use a USB C to C connector. Plug in the XR1 pro to the PC and nothing else and try to see if this introduces the buzzing sound in OBS. If it does not then continue to plug in the other cables one at a time until it replicates the issue. If it makes it easier on my channel “About” me page there is a link to my Discord. Feel free to contact me there.
@@ErictheInadequate Somehow I managed to get rid of the buzzing noise to stop coming through to OBS. I started to rearrange certain connections and what I have now seems to work, I am not getting that low input buzzing noise coming through to the output parties it would be annoying to hear in, such as my PS5 party chats, and my gameplay recordings from the capture card to OBS. Now, I'm mainly trying to configure the best settings for myself and this capture card on the OBS settings as some of my gameplay recordings seem to get choppy at times. I really appreciate you're response and I'll definitely hit you up on Discord if I can't seem to figure things out on my own. Thanks again, keep being great we all appreciate it truly!
Hey Eric, I feel like a total n00b asking you more questions after you made such an awesome and informative video, but I'm running into some issues as well with this capture card. I guess the most important question I have, is how can I get quality commentary (with my son and I, same room) while we play through our games together while recording? I feel like I'm very close...but when I talk through my headset, the recording BARELY pics up my voice, and some lag in all the audio still remains. In a nutshell...I want my videos to sound like Game Grumps. How can I fix this?
Hi Aaron, no worries, I'll try to help. To remedy the low voice volume, I recommend getting a second microphone and separating your audio in OBS (watch time video code 10:22). This will allow you more control in OBS. To avoid or lower audio sync/lag issues, make sure the EVGA XR1 pro is set up as explained here starting at 00:29. If you still have sync issues with the game or voice, you can try what I briefly recommend in my other video link here: ruclips.net/video/XnUig-4kQUg/видео.html around time code 18:18 I speak briefly about audio sync issues. That video is long, but it goes into depth on how I separate my audio in OBS studio for streaming and recording, but in short in OBS studio you can, you can click on the >three dots< to any source in the Audio Mixer and then click on >Advance Audio Properties< in the opened window under the column "Sync Offset" you can try to adjust the audio there as well. I looked at some of the Game Grumps videos, and it sounds like each person uses a separate dynamic microphone, which I use when I record and live stream by myself. As another possibility you can try what I do when I stream/record with my daughter. We have one Blue Yeti condenser microphone positioned between us. As a condenser microphone, it picks up more background noise, but it does not have to sit close to our mouths, and I can make adjustments in OBS to remedy and reduce the noise. Also, I must add that my room is somewhat sound-treated. If we play a game on the same console, we plug our headset into the Yeti output since that is where I monitor the OBS audio (well, now it is from a Focuserite Scarlett 8i6), and if need be, we mute each other in the game to not double up the voice audio in the recording/stream. Our headset microphones are used for ingame chat with other players only and the yeti to record/stream our voices. For games like Fortnite or Fall Guys, she plays on a Nintendo Switch, and I play on the PS5 again; we mute each other on the consoles, and I separate the console audio using an external audio mixer, audio monitor plug-in in OBS, and how I how to separate chat audio (time code 10:22). I record all of our streams in OBS studio separating the audio for editing compared to when I first started and all of my audio was mixed into one track. Here are a couple of links to our streams: Fortnite gameplay on separate consoles: ruclips.net/video/8P3B4Ry-d6A/видео.html Plants vs. Zombies same console (PS5):ruclips.net/video/5GsybBiCcxk/видео.html I hope this helps; feel free to ask more questions if needed.
@Eric the Inadequate Dude... you are SO awesome! Thank you for all this super helpful information. I'll be sure to watch the other videos to get a better understanding of what we need and how to set it up. Thank you for such a detailed response as well! Subscribed!
Hi Eric, I recently purchased all of the items listed in your video. I have the elgato wave 3 as my secondary mic. However when I hook everything up like you did in the video, I don't hear my PS5 audio through my headset. Hope you can help me with this issue. Thanks for the video man!!
To monitor the audio from OBS, connect the stereo from the headset Y-split to an audio out from the PC. For me, it is my speaker headphones out, and I connect using a 3.5mm stereo extender. Where this connection is made varies and depends on the individual system, but the connection has to be made where the PC can send stereo out. Then in OBS, you will select the PC stereo output by going to setting>audio - advance - Monitoring device; from the dropdown, select where the connection was made (watch video timecode starting at 14:56). After this is configured, the last step is to monitor the audio output in OBS. Choose any source in the audio mixer, left-click on the three dots, and select >Advance Audio Properties< In the pop-up box, all the visible audio sources will be available under the column >Name< then look for the column >Audio Monitoring< under the column from dropdown boxes select - Monitor and Output - for all the audio source you would like to hear through the OBS monitoring device/headset (watch video timecode starting at 16:29). Hope this helps if you have further questions let me know,. I'll try to help as best as possible.
@@ErictheInadequateThanks for the speedy response! Everything that you stated in the last comment I've done. I connected the stereo y split to my headphone jack on my laptop. @@SparkinSpliffs hey mate did you sort this issue out?? I’ve just purchased a wave 3 and a XR1 pro capture device and I have no idea how to set everything up with my ps5.. I feel like I need to be an audio engineer for this😂🤦🏻♂️
Hey! I have a steelseries headset. Bought all adapters because you could hear my mic Audio in my headset and doubled through my mic. Anyways. When it’s set to “headset controller” on the ps5 the PC picks up the audio and it works. But I can’t use my in game mic and hear my friends. The volume is also really low. I just want the same audio that my headet puts out but without it duplicating my mic
Any idea why I dont have the XR1 Pro listed in my options for recording devices? It shows up on the Playback list, but not recording. I literally cant do step 1...
I posted the following on our Discord. If you need more help hit me up on there under the Help section and I'll try to trouble shoot with you. The EVGA XR1 does not have multitrack capabilities. If you want to separate your mic audio and chat audio, you must have multiple audio inputs for your microphone and chat and only send the game audio to the capture card. Meaning, that you need a second microphone and turn down the mic input on the XR1 Pro so it does not get all mixed in on the same track. Unfortunately, not all games allow for game audio separation, so separating the chat audio from the game audio is not possible, or at least I have not figured out how to do it for all the games that I play.
Hello and I need your help please I am trying to figure out how to setup my EVGA XR 1 Pro to work with my PS5 and my usb wireless headset and mic unit mic is built into the headset and I do not have any 3.5mm connection please help can pay you for your time if need be thanks Hope to hear back from you Please really need the help
The only way I know of it to connect your headset to the PlayStation and use a second controller to send the game audio to the EVGA xr1 pro through 3.5mm and connect a second mic to the xr1 pro mic input with a trs to an trrs adapter. You’ll still be lacking hearing alerts for streaming and OBS audio through your headset unless you use a dual Bluetooth connection headset like the Steel Series. These can connect to your PC and PS5 and you can send the audio of both To the headset.
@@ErictheInadequate do you have a free minute this weekend to take a look at my gear setup? So if I got a wired headset is the only way? And how would I connect it?
You can always hit me up on Discord (the link is on the About Me page), and when I have some time, I can help you there. You can do it wirelessly, but you must use a second controller, like mentioned above, to get the audio into the XR1 pro. This is due to the PlayStation not sending audio to the headset and HDMI simultaneously. You can stream and record. I’m just not 100% sure if your headset mic audio (your voice) will get picked up during the game or console chat in OBS. The XR1 pro already comes with one TRRS cable, so all you have to do is connect the second controller headset jack to the input (right side) of the XR1 pro > log in with the second controller to the PS and make sure all audio is going to the controller headset jack (including chat) for the second controller > if you get Some feedback, you may need to press the mute button on the second controller. Since the other controller is connected to a second account and sending all audio out, it should theoretically pick up your voice and game/chat audio. This is something you will have to mess around with because I’ve never tried it since I don’t use a wireless headset. In the worst case, you need another mic to pick up your voice. In the best case, the second controller sends out all the game, your voice, and game/console chat audio. Lastly, because you are using a wireless headset, the notifications you set up on the stream will not come through on your headset since it is only picking up the PS audio and not your PC/OBS. Unless your headset can connect to both the PC and PS simultaneously, you can only receive the audio from one or the other. You can always connect the headset to the PC and send all audio out through OBS, but there may be a slight game audio delay doing it this way. I now do everything wired, and I use digital and physical mixers for me and my daughter to get all audio without delay when we stream.
Hello i followed this setup. I am seeing on my PS5 audio that it is picking up a sound. This sound is a weird static in the background. Is there a way to get rid of it? I am using the chat link pro cable method and the isolator is turned on so i dont think its the ground.
Is the sound similar to a ground loop hum? Is it happening on the recordings/streams side of the audio, or is it a sound only you can hear in your headset as you monitor the audio? If it is happening on your headset side (where only you listen to it), try adding a "ground loop noise isolator" to the monitoring stereo cable (The one that monitors the audio out in OBS and comes from the speakers for me in this video) Here is a link to the ones I use: amzn.to/3XSRmWz I place these on any lines that have some sort of interference going into my audio interface or mixers.
@@ErictheInadequatethe noise she is talking about can be heard even on the stream side and when I have her record the video/audio. So the headset would be plugged into that isolator than the isolator plugged into the audio port on the PC?
when i plugged my headphones into the capture card it didn't do anything. I'm not getting any sound or voice detection. When right clicking on the speaker i selected my tv then i selected realtek digital output (realtek (R)audio)
Is there something I may be missing ? I plus the controller in the right side and my headset in the left right ? Is there any other setting that I need to change ? I have a chat link cable too should I use that instead I hope you see this
If you don’t mind having to do your mixing on the XR1 Pro and having all your audio in one track, then use the xr1 as intended. If you want to separate all your tracks, game audio, your voice, and game chat in OBS. Then you will need another mic, a bunch of cable adaptors, and connecting the chatlink pro cable into the audio input of the PC. I cover that in the linked video: ruclips.net/video/XnUig-4kQUg/видео.html
The capture card will send a max signal of 4K 60hz when streaming or recording, but you can place the capture card in pass-through mode, which will allow higher rates, but you cannot record or stream at those higher rates. I use an HDMI splitter, which allows me to send a 4K 120hz signal to the monitor and a 1080p 120hz signal to the capture card.
i have streamlabs obs, does it work for that too? at the moment, i have everything all set up but i can see my PS5 on the monitor and I can' see any directions. the capture card is just rotating through colors consistently like its waiting to be set up. Any Advice?
It should work for Streamlabs as well. The Capture card circling through colors is fine. Make sure to turn off HDCP on the capture card and in the console. Also download the software from EVGA to turn off HDCP on the card and do firmware updates. . On the console HDCP should be under HDMI settings.
I need assistance. The PS5 capture goes black after a few seconds. I have HDCP turned off. As well as other video settings that may cause issues on the PS5. If I deactivate the screen in OBS and reactivate it, will show again and then go black. I can't find a solution on the web. Others must have the same issue. Using EVGA XR1 Pro capture card. UPDATE I was able to get the stream to remain. I had to turn off HDCP and then turn off the PS5 to and then it work once turned on again. I want to stream for by friends on Discord and am having issues getting the audio to work from my USB wireless headset.
Make sure the XR1 pro is connected with the 3.0 USB-A cable to a USB 3.0 port on the PC If not the max you will get is 720p, then connect the other small usb cable to another usb port for additional power. As far as Audio on Win. 11, that is a tutorial on its own how ever you can try this: Open Windows Start > Select the Settings app.> Tap Sound > Scroll down to Advanced and tap More sound settings. This should open the Sound settings window.
Onto the monitor/tv or recording software like OBS? Are both USB type A inserted to PC and the XR1 getting power? are your inputs correctly inserted? Did you turn off HDCP on your console and on the XR1 Pro? Download "XR1 RGB" to turn off HDCP on XR1 pro: www.evga.com/support/download/

Hey eric i have my capture card and its all plugged in and i can see the ps5 home screen on my tv but i cant the display on my obs pls troubleshooting help
Have you downloaded the PC controller software for the XR1 pro and update the capture card? Then try turning off HDCP on the PC XR1 pro software. Also try turning off HDCP on the PS5 HDMI settings.
okay so i got it up and working but it won't record my PS5 in 1080P, right now the quality is really bad at 720p. the monitor i am using is 1440p but still, it wont record in 1080p, the resolution option is greyed out
Ensure the long cable is connected to a USB 3.0 port and the smaller cable is an additional for power. In OBS, check the properties for the capture card and change the "resolution FPS type" to "custom." If your computer has USB-C input, you can connect the XR1 with a USB-C to USB-C cable. Have you tried the XR1 on another computer to see if it works properly? Have you updated the firmware? You may have received a defective device, or your computer inputs may not handle the traffic for 1080p. I tried to replicate your issue, but I was not able to duplicate it.
Setting it up with the Elgato cable will allow you to chat with your console party through the headset mic, but your voice will not come through the capture card into OBS Studio; you will need a second mic for that. This allows for better audio mixing in OBS studio as it separates all audio into independent channels. If you set it up the way EVGA says to set up the XR1 pro, all the audio, chat, game, and mic (your voice) will be mixed into one audio channel.
I would say that both are good products, depending on what resolution you are trying to capture, or for the passthrough capabilities, I think you get more with XR1 Pro, especially for $89. I still use the XR1 Pro. Just be aware of the limitations and how to get around them, as described in the video.
Xbox X user here. I purchased this thinking I’d be able to run and external for streaming chat, and still be able to use my Bluetooth headset through the Xbox. Any info on this?
All the info. here is for wired. There are a few bluetooth headsets that allow dual connections which will let you connect the console and PC. I believe some of the SteelSeries have this ability.
Im confused, what are you referring to when you say to connect the stereo splitter to your speakers? What if I am not using speakers on my PC or have blue tooth speakers?
The Y-split headset adapter's stereo piece is connected to my external Logitec pc speakers. The speakers are connected to the PC audio out. My speakers have a headphone adapter out, so I connect here using a 3.5mm stereo extender adapter cable and send the audio to my speakers. Suppose you do not have speakers or are using Bluetooth, to minimize latency, connect to the PC audio output and send the audio monitoring from OBS Studio directly to that adapter (video time code 15:07 & 16:29). Monitoring the audio from OBS studio is user specific from the settings route the audio to the adapter that the stereo form the y-split is connected and that could be any device that the PC can send audio to with a stereo/headphone adapter.
You do not need the chat link cable, as I only use it to have better audio mixing control. If you are having audio issues, check all connections and settings. If you are using the controller cable, then you need to send all audio to the controller.
If you use the XR1 as intended you can chat with console and record your voice and voice chat. All audio comes through on one channel in OBS studio. I've had no issues.
Using this setup if I were to play Spotify through the desktop is there a way I could isolate it so it doesn't get uploaded to twitch vods? I was able to add Spotify as an application audio capture but I can see PS5 audio still sees and plays the music
If the Spotify audio is coming through the PS5 or will be in the xr1 pro mix and make it to the stream. You have to figure out how to get the PS5 to stop playing the Spotify audio. If you are using OBS studio you can deselect the stream track in >advance audio settings< and if you monitor it then it should send the Spotify audio to your headset and not the stream. I've never done it this way. I use the plug-in “audio monitor” This will allow you to send the Spotify audio to the headset while muting it to the stream.
I just got this set it up and all, but my only issue is what if I don’t want to stream ? I noticed that I have to have my pc on for my ps5 to show display do I have to just keep switching hdmi?
I'm not sure what you mean by "switching hdmi," but the XR1 pro, like most modern capture cards, requires power to pass a signal. Therefore, even if you are not capturing video or streaming, the capture card needs power, which will come from the PC. I have mine connected to a powered USB hub with individual switches/buttons that toggles the data transfer and power on-and-off. This allows me to give power to the XR1 pro and game without having to turn on my PC. This is what I use with no issues: amzn.to/3sKNKKW or you can try something similar.
Issue I’m having is the ps5 gaming audio is too low for stream only way I could fix it is if I increase my headset volume but that’s way too loud for me, any workaround this
Check the Audio Level on the "Sounds" settings. Windows 10 - Right click on the speaker icon on the task bar > select "Sounds" > select "recording" tab > click on the XR1 Pro to highlight and click on "Properties" > select the "levels" tab > adjust level as needed. You can also check the audio level in OBS Studio in the audio mixer. Check the Audio level in the PS5 settings. Check the audio level on the XR1 Pro by right clicking on the big center knob and turning the knob.
Hey man can you help me set mine up? I cant get no audio from my desktop on the line out when i plug in my directly to the device any idea how to get this working?
Yes, but you won’t get headset mic input to the XR1 pro only game and console chat audio audio. Your console chat will be able to hear you but your voice won’t be heard on the recordings or livestream. You can always use a second mic like a Blue yeti to get your voice heard and it will allow you to separate it into a different channel in OBS. For my livestream recording I have multiple channels being recorded, mic (Yeti), game, and console voice chat all on different recording channels for better mixing when transferring to clips. Which I need to go back to doing.

Hello Zachary, Have you made sure the HDMI cables are not defective? The only things I can think of from the top of my head is checking that the "color space," "color range, and "video format" in the properties for the device source in OBS match the PS5. My settings in OBS are set to "Default" for "color space" and "range" and "any" for the "video format." In the PS5 "Video Output" settings HDR> "Always ON" "Automatic" "Automatic." You can also check the "Properties" for the video capture source in OBS and see that none of the settings have changed in the properties. Also check to see if there is and update for the capture device from the EVGA Download center: www.evga.com/support/download/ Hopefully this helps.

If you don't have as many options as I do to separate your audio you can get Voice meter banana or a Virtual audio cable. That way you can separate your audio digitally and capture it separately in OBS, but only plug your headphones to the PC Stereo output.
Second mic gets connected to PC either through USB or audio interface and it is used for voice over on stream or recording. Headset mic is used to speak with your game console party chat.
@artayek1517 i think he's showing if people wanna do party chat, i don't get it myself. your basically asking the capture device to keep track of too many audio sources, yet people will trash on it, then they'll go out buy an Elgato, only to find out they'll run into the same issue. it's like if you wanna party, do it on your own time. some people like to have their cake and eat it, this capture card does more than it needs to for most needs. so i can see why he covered all that, but that would give me headache trying to fiddle around with all that.

Yes, I touch on using a secondary mic in this video. Look for the time stamp of audio monitoring and streaming. I go into greater detail for audio set up in OBS studio in this video: ruclips.net/video/XnUig-4kQUg/видео.html
You are correct; they have to be wired headsets. You can make it work with USB headsets connected to the PC but some may experience some game audio lag.
@@ErictheInadequate hmm damnit Sony thanks for nothing. I would love to use my wireless headset and capture game AND voice all through one device. Couldn't ever be that simple I guess
Found a way that works @@ErictheInadequate it requires a 2nd PS5 controller, change the audio settings FOR the profile of the 2nd controller (guest or real profile) to have the audio/sound output in ps5 go through the controller, then plug a 3.5 m>m into the 2nd controller! feed that into your xr1 (I presume elgato same thing) and boom stream gets audio, headset wirelessly gets audio. Try it out!
@ZeroSystem yes you are correct. I completely forgot about this method. I’m glad you were able to find a solution that works for your setup and can help others. Thanks, and keep it up.
Check your encoder in OBS and Bit rates. Use Nvenc if you have it as an encoder and try to have a higher bit rate as well. Make sure you are capturing at the highest level desired. I use OBS and capture at 1080p, Nvenc H264 encoder, with a 10K bitrate set to constant rate control, with slow preset and high quality tuning with 2 passes.

Again bro... this is like you just handed me a gold bar... thank you.

Good luck on the journey.

If that is an extension cable and you have an affiliate link I'll fully grab from your link.
If you do use them, I just have to make people aware that I may make a small commission from them.

Any stereo extender will be fine. Just make sure it is shielded to reduce the possibility of noise interference.

Hi! Thank you for the video. For the Mac users how do you set audio capture?🙏
Thanks. For the mic to work you need to connect an XLR cable to an audio interface.

Here are a couple of links to our streams:

If I don’t want to stream and just want to separate chat, game audio, and my mic for editing do I need a second mic still?

I now do everything wired, and I use digital and physical mixers for me and my daughter to get all audio without delay when we stream.
how do you set up the audio that comes through the monitor. it isnt clear and ive been tryin to follow you exactly.
I'm only sending the game audio (the capture card audio) to the monitor and recapturing it in OBS. You have to go to the PC sound settings.
Would the audio delay/sync fix/workaround work with an AverMedia or Elgato capture card?
The mic you use to talk to the chat, where is that plugged into?
The headset mic connects to the Chat link cable through a TRS to TRRS adapter and using the headset splitter. Use a separate mic to talk to stream.
when i plugged my headphones into the capture card it didn't do anything. I'm not getting any sound or voice detection. When right clicking on the speaker i selected my tv then i selected realtek digital output (realtek (R)audio)
Is there something I may be missing ? I plus the controller in the right side and my headset in the left right ? Is there any other setting that I need to change ? I have a chat link cable too should I use that instead I hope you see this
I just want to record gameplay and Xbox console chat. I have chat link pro cable. What is the best setup for that?

It should work for Streamlabs as well. The Capture card circling through colors is fine. Make sure to turn off HDCP on the capture card and in the console. Also download the software from EVGA to turn off HDCP on the card and do firmware updates. . On the console HDCP should be under HDMI settings.

So I can’t use the head set mic and listen to audio?
okay so i got it up and working but it won't record my PS5 in 1080P, right now the quality is really bad at 720p.
the monitor i am using is 1440p but still, it wont record in 1080p, the resolution option is greyed out
i tried all the USB ports on my PC, most at 3.0 - still the resolution is greyed out and only giving me the option of 720 P
I just wanted to clarify if I set it up the way you did will my party chat hear me and record my mic in the capture card at the same time?
Setting it up with the Elgato cable will allow you to chat with your console party through the headset mic, but your voice will not come through the capture card into OBS Studio; you will need a second mic for that. This allows for better audio mixing in OBS studio as it separates all audio into independent channels. If you set it up the way EVGA says to set up the XR1 pro, all the audio, chat, game, and mic (your voice) will be mixed into one audio channel.
I’m struggling to get all audio in to one. On my streams I want my party chat in there as well
Did you figure it out ?
Did you figure it out ?
I got a question is this better than the ELGATO HD60 S+? And if it’s on sale for example $89 is it worth it?
I would say that both are good products, depending on what resolution you are trying to capture, or for the passthrough capabilities, I think you get more with XR1 Pro, especially for $89. I still use the XR1 Pro. Just be aware of the limitations and how to get around them, as described in the video.
@@ErictheInadequate thanks for the reply I’m gonna get it today the EVGA pro it’s on sale at Best Buy if you wanna know 👍
just got mine and my obs looks nothing like yours when i comes to audio and i went step by step mulitple times and it never added more audios
I would need more info to help out. You can also hit me up on Discord and we can troubleshoot together.
HELP! So confused on how to bring the audio in on a MacBook ;(
Xbox X user here.
Im not understanding where I should be connecting the Y split that has the headphones on it
The Y-split headset adapter's stereo piece is connected to my external Logitec pc speakers.
There's no sound coming through the capture card..
My game audio isn’t coming through do I need the chat link cable?
You do not need the chat link cable, as I only use it to have better audio mixing control. If you are having audio issues, check all connections and settings. If you are using the controller cable, then you need to send all audio to the controller.
Hey there! I wanted to see if you had any issue with your headset mic being heard in game chat. I want to stream and comm with randoms in a team game
If you use the XR1 as intended you can chat with console and record your voice and voice chat. All audio comes through on one channel in OBS studio. I've had no issues.
I can't get my mic to go through
Using this setup if I were to play Spotify through the desktop is there a way I could isolate it so it doesn't get uploaded to twitch vods?
@@ErictheInadequate so the usb hub is connected to pc and power outlet ?
@@ALazyGhost yes
@@ErictheInadequate everything is on max and still low
Hey man can you help me set mine up? I cant get no audio from my desktop on the line out when i plug in my directly to the device any idea how to get this working?
If you mean, you can’t hear your PC audio on the XR1 pro line out to headphones; it is not possible. This is explained in the video.
Can i just use a chat link cable and use the right aux input?
Yes, but you won’t get headset mic input to the XR1 pro only game and console chat audio audio. Your console chat will be able to hear you but your voice won’t be heard on the recordings or livestream. You can always use a second mic like a Blue yeti to get your voice heard and it will allow you to separate it into a different channel in OBS. For my livestream recording I have multiple channels being recorded, mic (Yeti), game, and console voice chat all on different recording channels for better mixing when transferring to clips. Which I need to go back to doing.
@@ErictheInadequate thanks I appreciate it got it all figured out now
Can you help me please I have a brand new capture card that I had returned the 1st because I thought I had an issue! I am having a green tint on my ps5 capture picture? I can’t figure out why this is doing this! I have the evga xr1 not the pro and it works fine? Please help asap
CAN SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME OUT. HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO CHOOSE MONITOR FOR AUDIO OUTPUT? IT WONT SHOW UP . ONLY PC SPEAKERS. ARE SHOWING
I think because my monitor does not have speakers? I have a line in aux for the game monitor? Obs sounds are coming through pc. Still getting game audio in the headphones. But i think I need the audio from obs to come through the headset? Right? I'm all over the place 😂😂 audio output capture. The evga is not showing. I need audio help somebody plz
If you don't have as many options as I do to separate your audio you can get Voice meter banana or a Virtual audio cable. That way you can separate your audio digitally and capture it separately in OBS, but only plug your headphones to the PC Stereo output.
How i can switch screen ? I see only ps5 screen how i can open pc screen plz
hi i still dont have any audio coming thru my ps5 any tips on what im doing wrong please help.
only one of my monitors are popping up in devise and its my pc monitor
@@unpatchble Do you get audio though HDMI set up only? Are you sending "all audio" through the controller in the console menu?
where is the second microphone connected to? mine is USB
Second mic gets connected to PC either through USB or audio interface and it is used for voice over on stream or recording. Headset mic is used to speak with your game console party chat.
you can separate your audio by simply just plugging your mic into your computer rather than the capture card same lmao
Agreed lol
@artayek1517 i think he's showing if people wanna do party chat, i don't get it myself. your basically asking the capture device to keep track of too many audio sources,
yet people will trash on it, then they'll go out buy an Elgato, only to find out they'll run into the same issue. it's like if you wanna party, do it on your own time. some people like to have their cake and eat it,
this capture card does more than it needs to for most needs.
so i can see why he covered all that, but that would give me headache trying to fiddle around with all that.
whenever i plug in my headset the audio from my desktop such as music or a video im watching goes away how do i fix this is it because the headset that i have is the playstation headset
Im not sure I quite understand the question. If you mean plugging into the XR1 Pro 3.5 aux out this is explained in the video.
@@ErictheInadequate when i plug in my headset to the xr1 pro i only hear the game audio from the playstation i can't hear my music or if i were watching a video through my pc
Can’t be done, it is explained in the video and how to get around the issue.
Mine is capped at 720p 30fps in OBS. I'm working with an Xbox Series X with a 4K 60hz TV.
You need to check your OBS settings. Based on your pc/system you may only be able to stream at 720p 30FPS
@@ErictheInadequate The OBS settings or the Source setting after clicking properties? Also, my PC isn't budget.
@@cyveresrts What is capped? based on your comment I assumed your streaming settings are capped at 720p. Are you getting full resolution on the TV/monitior? if not check HDMI cables and version? Check all you settings including sources. Update and reset XR1 pro?

Can you screen shot movie scenes from the PS5?
You have to turn off HDCP, while I haven't tried it in theory the answer is no for movies. Games should be just fine
need all in one box witch inludes OBS so u dont need a pc to capture console gaming

Is there a way to use this same setup but use a usb mic?
Yes, I touch on using a secondary mic in this video. Look for the time stamp of audio monitoring and streaming. I go into greater detail for audio set up in OBS studio in this video: ruclips.net/video/XnUig-4kQUg/видео.html
This doesn't work while used the Pulse 3d headset from what I have gathered
You are correct; they have to be wired headsets. You can make it work with USB headsets connected to the PC but some may experience some game audio lag.
@@ErictheInadequate hmm damnit Sony thanks for nothing. I would love to use my wireless headset and capture game AND voice all through one device. Couldn't ever be that simple I guess
Ty for the reply and help!

@@ErictheInadequate I’ve tried everything man I’ve even went up to 30,000 bit rate and it’s the same thing
