Thank you so much for posting this! Not all heroes wear capes! (Unless you do happen to have a cape, and in that point I would suggest you put it on and look in the mirror for a bit!)
Are you hearing the game audio from the PS5 through your headset using this method? If so, how? Usually when you plug in a headset into the PS5 controller you get the party and game audio combined (because the Output to Headphones option is All Audio by default), so if you sent that via the chat link cable to the PC you wouldn't be able to seperate them, and your capture card wouldn't be picking up any game sound because it mutes it when a headset is plugged in. So I assume you have changed the Output to Headphones setting to Voice Chat Audio, which will allow the chat link cable to transmit the party audio meanwhile your capture card picks up the gameplay audio. But if that's the case, that means you don't hear any game audio via your headset. How are you solving that problem?
As explained in the video I am rerouting the game audio back to the headset via my audio interface through an extender cable. If you don't have an audio interface you can send the audio as explained in this video: ruclips.net/video/TwicZb0H7AU/видео.html or this video: ruclips.net/user/shortsVZqON7vXXLw
So i just want to make sure. Doing this i can be in a playstation party. hear my friends in my headset. but while streaming my audience wont be able to hear them if i uncheck the proper audio tracks? my goal is to stream and only have my audience hear me but i can still hear ppl in my headset
The xr1 pro is being used only to capture video and game audio. To see how to use these cables with the xr1 pro check out this video: ruclips.net/video/TwicZb0H7AU/видео.html
So you won’t be able to hear game audio through your headset here since it’ll come out of the tv? I want to record only game audio but no game chat so that my conversations with my friends aren’t recorded but the gameplay is. How would you go about doing that?
Separate chat audio in OBS, as explained in the video, and depending on the game, it will go to a different audio track channel in OBS. You can choose to record that channel or leave it out. Since the game audio is on a separate audio track channel in OBS, you will only get the game audio but can still hear the chat as you play. The game audio, depending on the game, will be on a separate channel. The only game thus far in which I have not been able to separate chat is Fall Guys.
@@ErictheInadequate i may have to get an interface. when i connect the wires as i think you are saying, i get all audio but my game chat and party chat wont work. So right now i have to suffer through not being able to monitor the stream audio if i want to chat. This is my last hurdle
@@D0nKilluminatifor me I have the chat link cable connected to the mic input on the PC (trs side). chat link cable connected to controller (trrs side). TRRS male to TRS female adapter to the chat link cable (y side, where you would Connect the headset). Headset splitter (mic trs male side) to the female trs adapter cable. Then take the other headphone side of the splitter Connect that to the audio out of the pc or where you send the OBS audio. To listen to chat, in the PS5 audio menu set the game controller audio to chat only. In OBS studio create an input device for the mic line in (where the chat link cable is connect to the PC). In the audio monitoring menu of OBS monitor the mic line in for the chat link cable and you would listen to the chat through OBS.
Update. Im slow and I missed a converter cord and had the portion going into the computer plugged up wrong. It's now working great. My only issue is I hear slight buzzing but my people don't hear it unless I play cod. When I play cod they said it's loud as hell tho. Is there a place I could add an isolator? Or no?
I have not tried this, but knowing how those adapters work, I don't think it will work for your application. The best bet is to get a set of 3.5 headsets.
i can help share this video with friends using the same equipment as me i just want to see the options i have using a usb headset to record on obs ps5 and i was wondering if i can just use a adapter for the chatlink to work
To record on OBS using a USB headset is fine as you would send the Audio signal to the headset through OBS, but you will not have chat capability with the PS5. This is why I got another set of headsets. Here is a link to the video I made of the headset I use, and they are affordable: ruclips.net/video/1_7L05-f4mo/видео.html
I’m using a laptop to stream so I’m limited on the outputs I can send my audio to. I only have my speakers and headphones, which one do I send it to. I’m having a rough time trying to setup everything plz help 😅
Look in the sounds settings sometimes there are more options that are not active. If not send them the headphones you use and don’t monitor the game audio through obs
@@ErictheInadequateso i set it to my headphones but now I have a echo going through my headset without monitor and output being activated , the only way to hear my own voice audio is to have mic monitoring on through my party chat but there’s a slight delay and it’s annoying . @@ASlowXbox I don't have an Xbox, but I'll try to help as best as possible. I used a Surface Pro to replicate your audio options, and here is how I solved (somewhat) the audio issue without game audio lag (but you cannot live monitor your voice through the console as it doubles in live streams/recordings). I'll provide 2 solutions. Solution 1. In sound settings, send EVGA XR1 pro audio to headphones. In OBS studio settings audio monitoring device, select Headphones. In OBS, I set up my sources (alerts, music, and audio input capture "headphones," which are the game audio). In OBS advanced audio properties, I am monitoring the alerts and music but not the game audio. I also deselected/unchecked the stream and recording tracks for my alerts and music, as this sends all audio through the headphones. Meaning all your alert music and anything else you are monitoring are mixed into one track in OBS (Audio input capture "headphones"), and you will hear everything through the headphones; you can still set audio levels in OBS for what you are monitoring. How you hear it in your headphones is how it will be mixed and heard on stream and recordings. Solution 2: Still in sound settings, send your EVGA XR1 Pro audio to your headphones and Set your "speakers" as the monitoring device in OBS audio settings. In OBS, set up your sources; for me, it is alerts, music, and audio input capture "headphones," which are the game audio. I am "monitoring and output" only the music and the alerts in OBS advanced audio properties. This means my alerts and music come through my computer speakers, not headphones. It also means I can keep all my audio on separate tracks for recording purposes but I won't hear my alerts or music through my headphones. Since I don't know if you have a second microphone with monitoring capabilities I did not include it here. Hopefully, one of these 2 solutions helps you out. If not, I'll try to help as best I can. You can also find a link to my Discord on the About page and we can try to troubleshoot from there.
So useful!! Everytime I move my setup I rewatch this to remember how to do it 😂 I got all the cords for the links too 🤣

Would I need a second mic if I’m not streaming? I just want to split game audio, mic audio, and chat audio for editing purposes
Yes
cool!!

Wait so, are you going to be able to hear PS5 audio and game chat audio in one headset while separating the two audio sources in OBS?
yes
@@ErictheInadequate But isn’t the game that audio coming from the monitor speakers, not the headset?
my capture card is internal and does not have a headphone jack, where do i plug these cables in without an audio interface

Anyone get the buzzing to stop with the controler plugged up?
Brother where can I hit you up for some help on setting up my audio
Hey buddy you can try to reach me through our community discord in the help section. I can try to help out as much as I can.
Is this separating the private party chat or the in game chat ? (For example chat in cod)
Both; the few times I've played COD (MWII & Warzone 2.0), it separated proximity chat as well.
Am i not able to do this if my console doesn’t have a mic input, aka a mac?
You may be able to use a USB adapter, a DAC, or an audio interface.

can you still do this while using the elgato chat link pro
I use the elgato chat link pro cable.
using this exact setup as you mentioned and the PC sound output to my headphones is being read as my microphone on ps5?
Not sure why that would be. I would begin by double-checking the headset splitter and making sure it is connected in the correct orientation.
