NY driver here. Yes, That same permatex antiseize attracts dirt and grime like crazy. Been using it for over 10 years on coils though, I just clean it and reapply twice a year. T9 I had the opportunity to use but never did lol, using it next time.
Jesus, this was super informative! I am a first time VW owner of a 2019 Jetta SEL and now that I have some money I can spare, I wanted to get new tires/wheels and lower the vehicle since 99% of people recommended that to me. Except, I am not much of a car person and didn't know what to look for or ask for. My previous car was a manual Ford Focus RS that was mistakenly sold to me as a Focus Titanium lol. But man, this simplified things for me, I cant wait to continue my research on some mods I can do myself on this car.
Good info. One thing I would like to know is if damper adjustments can increase/decrease rubbing once you nail the fitment. Basically, will a soft setting create too much movement?
Is rule of thumb that you have the front and the rear equal heights from rim to fender on all four corners? Assuming you do not want that rake look. many thxs
@Deutche Auto Parts You missed something. Can you please talk about the options for those of us with adjustable dampening controlled by the car, and what options are available, with aftermarket coil-overs, to hook into the car's software. E.G.: My Audi will adjust the dampening based on if I'm in Comfort, Auto, or Dynamic mode. If Im looking to add aftermarket coil-overs, to replace the factory struts, how will the car be able to make those dynamic adjustments when I switch modes? Is it even possible at all?
I have an Audi A6 C7 AVANT 3.0 TDI 204HP and is time to change the Stock ones with some aftermarket coilovers . Can you recommend some close to Stock market brand just to improve a bit the stock ones ? I would like to keep the comfort and won't going so lower just about factory height
Question: Does the adjustment range take into account the comfort springs, if the coilovets have them? Would those then be removed to set the car to the minimum lowering?
Awesome video Paul! What is the best suspension system for a daily drive VW JETTA GLI MK4 (2004) 2.8L VR6 24v (BDF) six speed. H&R, Bilstein, KW, Koni or KSport, or Eibach? or a mix and match, or something else? I want to lower the car (between 1.5" but no more than 2")
Wich model B14 are they? Im asking because,i can buy B14 here but i dont think they have those comfort setting,so wich model are those b14,if it has a model?
Here's a question... I have a (Yamaha) golf cart, and drive it around my retirement community streets (will not be taking it on the golf course). This model of golf cart is very light, and the ride feels EVERY slight bump in the road to the extent that my teeth rattle (and yes, they are all my own teeth so far). The stock shocks have 'Coil Overs'. I think I can change the 'coil over springs' on the shocks to either softer or stiffer spring rate. Do I go with a 'softer' or more 'heavy duty' spring rat to achieve a smoother/softer ride? Thank you.
Subbed!! I just love your style. I do however feel you didn't answer the question I have. I have fitted Bilstein coilovers on my car, but I think they need adjusting. The problems are that when driving, I can hear the baubles on the lower branches scraping against the floor of my car. Also, the stereo is repeatedly playing Jingle Bells. To adjust this, do I turn the baubles left or right ??
I have a 2017 alltrack and I would love to find a suspension solution where I could maintain the factory height and have the ability to lower it if I would like to. Is there a coilover or air suspension solution that could allow me to do that. It seems from what I have seen that whatever adjustable setup I get it’s highest setting will still be lower than sock.
The problem that I'm having is the very top of the coilover they have an allen wrench and a nut around it they're totally at different heights and not sure how it got like that but I'm not sure how to fix it either every video that I've watched his not even mentioned it
I have just installed Bilstien B14 installed on Mk6. The front coils seem to pop when turning. It’s almost like the springs bind and then release while turning in a parking lot. I installed new top mounts and bearings. Ever heard of this? Fix?
Great video, i'm literally about to have coilovers fitted on my GTI Clubsport, i am curious though as to say i wanted to change my alloys over (both being 19") but the alloy width was different, would you say i need to be adjusting anything on the coilovers or should that not have any affect?
If your too low they might rub also the wheelgap may be different depending on if your new wheels/ tire setup is taller or shorter so that may be something you’d want to adjust
They are Alpha, Alpha! 😄 (esp the B16 coilovers) But best would probably be the *Ohlins Road & Track* here from Sweden were im from. They cost and arm and a leg though!
Great video . Appreciate the knowledge! I have AirLift and feel like its putting more stress on my passenger axle. Would constant changing of ride height effect this? hoping someone can enlighten me !
I got a 2018 s4 and if you were close to my location you would be the only mechanic I would trust to work on my vehicle. iWorks love to do some upgrades But you’re to farrr. Good job on your work and explaining your work in much detail.
Could you cover adjusting preload on the rear? I'm still struggling to grasp how the preload gets adjusted on the rear system. I understand the process, but conceptually I don't understand how the preload doesn't go away once the car is on the ground. In other words, if the shock in the rear is responsible for creating the preload when adjusted against the spring (say 5mm or 10mm shorter than 0 slack on the spring, once the car settles, that same shock can theoretically be pulled off the car with no impact on the spring itself... so, therefore, the preload is gone. This has fried my circuits for years and every time I go back to change my ride height in the rear, I can successfully do it but I don't understand why it works that way.
I guess my real question is: when corner balancing and attempting to keep all ride heights the same, only using preload, how would you increase preload on the rear without increasing ride height so that you get more weight on that wheel?
Hey Paul do ShopDap ship any product to another countries , my country is Uzbekistan (Central Azia) i wanted to buy project alltrack t-shirt and shopdap logo but don't know is that possible , Would ShopDap send that to other countries ?
you should do a video on comparing the balancing of the car before and after coil overs using scales. include some weight changes and driving effects you can achieve with really adjusting coil overs. i run air bags on my daily because im to lazy to get out and adjust coil overs, that would be several times a day haha.
On the BC, you need to set the strut length so the bump stop does not allow the wheel to make contact with any part of the body. Then use the coil seat to adjust the ride height. An no compressing the spring will not change the ride quality, the spring rate is linear on BC's. mcasuspension.com/technical/11/Ride-Height-Adjustment
Wait a second. Is this a Bilstein B16? Did you get the PU Hose to slide over the springs without begging for them? I have a b16 in my MKV R32 and I had to write a ton of emails to Bilstein until they gave me an email address of Eibach where I got the Hose. Weird.
oxdudepoege i faced the same issue with coils slapping onto each other creating shit tons of noises.. Could you point me to where / what exactly you got from eibach?
ok got to almost a minute in and the guy doesn't know the difference between a strut and a shock... then he says ... i don't think it matters... it kind of does matter... gees man you shouldn't be teaching people shit you don't know yourself... worst thing was he showed part of a strut and told you it was a shock.... its not. wow
These videos have always been informative, but the injection of humor has taken them to the next level. Well done.
Definitely do one on the coilovers you adjust with the body of the coilover. Rev 9, Bc ect.. awesome video as usual
My goto channel for any and everything MK7 GTI. Much appreciated
"It's seized" needs to become a song.
Great video! Could you do another video on sway bars, and showing a before and after please?
I just ordered On tuesday a swaybar for my Audi A5 8F convertible from H&R...I'm looking forward to the difference
Greetings from Germany
I appreciate the plug 😂
Thumbs up for the dirt nasty low.
Please keep over editing your videos with cutaways and sound clips haha I love it.

Very good presentation !
Thanks a lot,, great videos.

DAP: Hilarious as always and somehow still informative
Spray plastidip on the threads then remove before adjusting. Best way to protect coilover threads!!
You are my favorite Audi S-4 (2014) Mechanic!!!!!!
I have the same set up, in regards to the dampener setting of 1 to 10 is there a corresponding marker to tell me which number it currently is on?
Paul you are a god to me. ❤
0:44 - This is why I keep watching these videos 😂😎🤩
You had me subscribe in less then 60 Seconds. Great Humor.😂
Electrical tape on the threads. Or wraps. Use to make them for mk4's.

Nice video. This was very helpful. Could you make a video covering tiptronic automatic Transmission fluid change from a VW Jetta 2003 1.8 turbo.

Thanks very interesting and informative.
I watch your videos for the comedy, not just the technical info
Hi!!
I have a 2017 Jetta GLI with factory sport suspension and I need to replace the shocks, what would work better Bilstein B6 or B8??
Question:
Does the adjustment range take into account the comfort springs, if the coilovets have them? Would those then be removed to set the car to the minimum lowering?

Excellent tech info. Leave comedy to the funny guys tho
Great video!! Y’all deserve way more subs
Hey, what about coilovers on mk7s with DCC? What's the cancelling hardware thats needed?
Wich model B14 are they?
Im asking because,i can buy B14 here but i dont think they have those comfort setting,so wich model are those b14,if it has a model?
I thought it's another bad joke from a car stuff review. I actually laughed with that christmas tree...

They are Alpha, Alpha! 😄 (esp the B16 coilovers) But best would probably be the *Ohlins Road & Track* here from Sweden were im from. They cost and arm and a leg though!
No mention of corner balancing which is the absolute best part of height adjustable suspension...
Do more videos like this lol
But don’t forget the 🌲 🤣
What's the best replacement coil over set up for the '05 Touareg V8? Cheers.
What Coilover and/or Springs brand and version do you recommend for a VW Jetta 2004 GLI (MK4) VR6 2.8L 24V 6speed?
4:42 - That tree is *relentless*.
lol the christmas tree got me
how do i adjust the rebound setting ?
What do you do to lift your VW’s instead of lowering them?
Great video . Appreciate the knowledge!
I have AirLift and feel like its putting more stress on my passenger axle.
Would constant changing of ride height effect this?
hoping someone can enlighten me !
If you lower it to the point the CV joints are binding, then yes. It's not from constant change though.
What is the perfect workable low height for a MK7 Gti?
What‘s the most popular coilover in the states? Or which damper combination do you use?
Greetings from Germany ✌️

How do I break them loose! Ape no work
You gotta go low enough to scrape the oil pan heavily on the ground.

hi, what adjustment can i do to my bc v1 coilovers to stop my rear tyres rubbing on the fender liners. preload, harder dampening or stiffer springs?
On the BC, you need to set the strut length so the bump stop does not allow the wheel to make contact with any part of the body.

just wondering how do you adjust the headlight after you have lowered the car, when you have headlights that adjust them selfs?
Different depending on the car, but here's the video we made on the S4 ruclips.net/video/7bnqyqN49gA/видео.html
@@Deutscheautoparts thanks, it's nice that it was on the s4, because it's te same model i have, but it's an A4:D
More Jounce to the Ounce!!!!

lubricating the rear is important. LMAO
missed spring rate choices
The ride height on that alltrack is spot on. Anything lower than that and it start to looks like a clown car.
hahhahawha the christmas tree
‘Congratulations’
Hahaha awesome vids man!
video just got a like on the reoccurring tree joke alone
Spring load
👏
I need to live the dirt nasty lyfe
You didn't go into preload
Don't use Bilstein. They'll break.
Many people in Germany like the Bilstein B16. But my cousin's boyfriend had the Same problem with this coilover. After 20.000km is a Spring broken...
Name a better brand with a better warranty? 20+ years with Bilstein products and not a single complaint.
This didn't need to be as funny as it is, but I ain't mad
Watching these videos over the past couple months has forced me to buy a GTI. Thanks for nothing DAP!
haha this video is so funny
I’m static
there has to be said that every time you adjust the coilovers you should do an alignment after
You missed how to install them
LOL
Missed a good joke when you were talking about damaged axels 😆😆
Yeah....it will be springs for me dog
If you're gonna notch it. Box it. This end this panda public service announcement
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
Coilovers. These are like flared jeans aren't they?
That’s a damper not a shock absorber, the spring absorbs shock, take them out and go for a drive you’ll find no shock is absorbed,
ok got to almost a minute in and the guy doesn't know the difference between a strut and a shock... then he says ... i don't think it matters... it kind of does matter... gees man you shouldn't be teaching people shit you don't know yourself... worst thing was he showed part of a strut and told you it was a shock.... its not. wow
