    Great video! Keep them coming! I’ve learned a few tricks that might help be useful. 1) Coil noise- a bicycle inter tube keeps the coils grinding against each other. This helps a lot on progressive rate springs where there’s always coil contact. 2) Use a bottle jack separate the strut. It’s a fraction of the effort. I’ve written about this trick on the forums. 3) Protect coil over threads with Boeshield T9. One of my off-roading buddies introduced me to this trick and it’s legit.

    Dude. I was thinking about your noise issue. From what I read, the final torquing should be done with the car at ride height. Then when adjustments are made, the bolts should be loosened at the mounting points that have the rubber bushings. Make the height adjustments, then re-torque all bolts. Just what I’ve read!

    Really good video, I disagree though about the ride height, I think the previous height was "adult look" or European look and now it's not really slammed but lower than it should be for a daily driver it does LOOK really good (as you said that was what you're after) but for hauling stuff with partially full load it will look too low for practicality. I've got a Alltrack with "R" springs and shocks and it's 1/4" lower all around compared to your previous springs, probably due to my plastic fender moldings that make the difference? And I love the ride. I just bought the H&R Rear bar yesterday, I bought the Moog end links and the local VW Audi Porsche tuner shop said "Oh, you bought into the hype" saying that over 100 bar installs using the stock plastic end links they've only had one break and that was due to an accident. He basically said he guarantees I won't have them break. I said you've sold me and saved me the extra step of removing the bottom bolt and IF they do break I've got back-ups. He also told me to put car on drive up ramps to keep the bar loaded and removal will be easier, I'm going to shine the ramps with 2x8's for a little more clearance and drop rear of the exhaust. Your videos are very informative keep them coming.👍👍

  • @rSb.Benjaminz
    @rSb.Benjaminz Год назад

    I very much appreciate the detail of this video. I feel a little more comfortable in trying a similar install myself (and i’m no mechanic or a gearhead in any way shape or form). But I do have one question that wasn’t detailed in the process… I have H&R Sport Springs as well on my Mk7 TDI SE, they were already installed when I bought the car. Do you need to use spring compressors on even these sport springs before you remove the center bolt of the upper strut mount of the stock strut, if a person opted not to buy new upper strut mounts? Or perhaps is it best to do like you did and just buy new ones to, in my case, to avoid having to choose using spring compressors or not when removing and transferring the original factory upper strut mount (with the bonus of still having the factory strut with lowering springs still installed together, as a viable backup if your new coilover kit needs to be removed for whatever reason). Is it expensive to go your route and get new ones specifically for the Camber Kit install?

    • @DadWagon
      @DadWagon  Год назад +1

      I believe i still needed to compress the springs a bit when i finally removed them from the struts (recently to sell the springs). But not 100% positive.
      Do you need new bearings and mounts - no. But the way i looked at it - spending this much on new shocks and springs... adding more dollars to make it all brand new was totally worth it to me.

    • @rSb.Benjaminz
      @rSb.Benjaminz Год назад

      @@DadWagon aaah I see. Well, I might just do it the way I mentioned it; essentially removing the stock setup in one piece still intact and just simply do what you did and install the Bilsteins & Camber Kit with new bearings/mount. This way the stock strut & sport spring are a fully assembled back-up suspension laying in wait in case something happens with the Bilstein/Camber combo. And as you said, new *everything* certainly makes sense, I mean why not! Anyway, thank you for your feedback DW!
