Yes, BET! Bootsy Collins was the first celebrity musician I ever met. I was 8 years old and my brother-in-law brought him by the house late night. I say that because I was in PJs in a picture.my sister took. He brought his gold record "Stretchin' Out" with him. Maceo Parker and him were is James Brown's band and they recorded regularly at Cincinnati's King Records Studio.
Man! I remember when this hit the clubs! An amazing tune. We're gonna need music like this to get through the next four years, I tell ya. (I love your channel, by the way. Great stuff!)
q-tip is in this song and some years later, a tribe called quest sampled towa tei (the japanese dj/producer guy in deee-lite) for their single 'find a way.' towa tei's song is called 'techova.' full circle.
Tons of fun this one - never really thought of it as house, but definitely a big mix of funk, groove, dance, hip hop, breakbeat Big hit - this must've been on SO many 90s compilation cds
Yeah this is one of those occasions were a band get a huge hit from the one song that didn't really represent their usual sound. I remember getting the album and being a bit shocked that it was all pretty much House music bar this track.
Yes, it's Bootsy. Bootsy doesn't actually play the bass on this song he just provides guest vocals. I dunno why they have him holding a bass in the video. The bass line is a sample from Herbie Hancock's song "Bring Down the Birds" originally performed by bass legend Ron Carter. But playing on this song are Maceo Parker (sax), Fred Wesley (trombone) who both played with Bootsy Collins in both James Brown's band AND Parliament Funkadelic. And of course Q-Tip. Most of this song is sampled from some really obscure places (even the slide whistle part).
Now check out SUPREME BEINGS OF LEISURE self titled debut album. Fantastic female lead vocalist, similar band, kind of trip hop techno with lush vocals and diverse instrumentation. NEVER THE SAME GOLDDIGGER LAST GIRL ON EARTH STRANGELOVE ADDICTION A very cool album.
Time to go down the Tribe Called Quest rabbit hole. Maybe Scenario is a good place to start though it has has a few special guests and isn't just Tribe by themselves.
I wouldn't call this house music. I would call this groooovy! lol. I don't know if this would fit in just one genre. It's a mix of different styles and it works.
This isn't really house music. If you want to know what real house music is listen to Marshall Jefferson House Music Anthem. I would call this dance I think could be wrong. That's also my favorite rapper on this song. But yea I think it's another case of actually true house music being too uplifting for culture and it getting watered down. Yo if you check out some Tribe would be amazing maybe start with Bonita Applebum it was off of their first record and definitely the song where I was like sold on them
This song was such a vibe when it came out. Every club was playing it. Huge hit.
The genre is definitely pop funk and dance.
This song was a classic the second it dropped. It was everywhere when I was in Jr. High, and I've never gotten tired of it.
It is fun…. and the world always needs fun, joy, levity .
Yes that's Bootsy, I'm from Cincinnati and you can't help but run into him here all the time. The lead singer is also from Ohio

For me, it's one of the most catchy tunes of the 90s :)
Massive club hit in Europe as well.
I read a comment about this song that was on point - this video is the exact moment the 80's became the 90's

This was an MTV staple back then.
Great dance tune ❤
Smart E's ~ "Sesame's Treet" is my fave house jam from back in the day. Glad to be a witness to the litness.

This would have been a hit without Bootsy and Q-Tip... but I'm sure glad they're in it.
You know you're somebody when you play bass for James Brown 😮 and you're 14 years old. Such is Bootsy.
I keep wishing for BOZ SCAGGS LOWDOWN ...
It's not really made for listening to while sitting down. It is all about moving and having fun.
Now check out SUPREME BEINGS OF LEISURE self titled debut album. Fantastic female lead vocalist, similar band, kind of trip hop techno with lush vocals and diverse instrumentation.

They play this and other house music at every gay dance club in America! Not so much the hetero clubs though.
You need to listen to the Sugarhill, gang rappers delight
Hey new to your channel if you want to hear a more conventional house track and a fire one at that check out the group's "Runaway"
I wouldn't call this house music. I would call this groooovy! lol. I don't know if this would fit in just one genre. It's a mix of different styles and it works.
It's DJ Towa Tei with Tei pronounced Tey not Tee.
House music originated in Chicago. 😘
Good luck getting rid of that Earworm!
No need to apologize. I'm already getting what I pay for. You owe me nothing.
Ooof ... that double audio isn't doing my OCD any favours.
