  • Here's a quick look at my 2018 Trek Fuel EX 8. It is primarily a stock build with the following upgrades:
    FOX Factory 34 140mm fork - this gives me a bit more travel, increased tuning and more aggressive head angle
    Nobl 33 Carbon Wheelset w i9 Torch hubs - weight savings, increased performance and high engagement

      Dan Davis I definitely think the Fuel EX8 is underrated bang for buck. I’ve never felt held back.

    Hello, I am wondering what are the impact of a 140mm on this bike can you be more specific than "agressiv" please ?
    I don't get what feeling this implies ... Thank you for your help :)

      The increased fork height slackens the head angle slightly. This slows the steering which can be advantageous at higher speeds on technical descents. The 2018 Trek has a fairly steep head angle for a trail bike by todays standards. Swapping out the fork helps with that. It also slightly raises the bottom bracket height. The Trek is also notorious for pedal strikes. It is an imperfect solution but one I have not regretted. Cheers!

    Did the 140mm fork increase your axle-crown height compared to the 130mm? If so, are the geometry changes of the higher head tube noticeable?

    • @MountainVenture
      @MountainVenture  5 лет назад

      Yes, both the axle and crown height were changed slightly making the geometry a bit more aggressive which is what I was going for. The performance is noticeable but with the trade off of slackening the seat tube angle slightly. Overall, I am happy with the modification and the ride. Thanks for your question!

      Michel Soriano I ride in low. Great handling but I still get some pedal strikes.
