    Why am I still not convinced by the Stevie pattern? I have now seen it on loads of different people and continue to think it’s shapeless and not particularly flattering on anyone. Perhaps the kindest I can say about it is it makes a good beach cover up, but there are other, less expensive, beach cover up patterns around.... tell me again why people are raving about this pattern? Loved all the fabric you showed; so tempting !

    • @StitchyBee
      @StitchyBee  5 лет назад

      thanks Muriel 😊 Yes, it's definitely not for everyone. No idea about people raving, I haven't seen anyone's review of it yet. It is what it is, just a simple boxy dress/top. Next time I'm reviewing a more fitted silhouette 😊

    Thanks so much for reviewing this! I love this pattern so much, but I fall at the upper end of the pattern sizing. I was concerned it would be too small for me, but with the amount of ease you describe, I think it would fit me. I picked up my sewing last year after a decades long hiatus, and I would like to start working on some simple garments for myself. I've done pajama pants and shorts, but haven't yet tried a top. Yours is beautiful! As far as your hair goes, your natural color is really pretty. I thought about letting mine grow out, but I look so washed out and tired in my grey. My color is not flattering, so I just recolored again this month. I am sick of doing it, but until it's a more even and pretty color, I'm going to keep doing the hair dye every couple of months.

    • @StitchyBee
      @StitchyBee  5 лет назад +1

      thanks Patty 😊 Yes, I'd definitely try it, it's a comfy dress/top and the ease will help with fitting as you say. Ahh, enjoy your hair as you like it, that's the beauty isn't it? We can choose.xx

    • @PattymacMakes
      @PattymacMakes 5 лет назад

      Stitchy Bee i do hope I can get it to fit because it’s so cute and I really want to try out my own garments. I didn’t realize it had so much built in ease so that will really help. I guess hair is a life long battle. 😂😂😂 I’ve seen some women have it dyed to the grey or white they are growing out, and that makes the process with longer hair much easier. I keep mine so short that all the color is cut out by the thirdcut.

  • @valclements7092

    Hi Cheryl, your colour is growing out really nice , you will rock it. Love your Stevie, I just have the hem to do on mine. I used a fabric I had in my stash for about 10 years. When I bought it I loved it, washed it as soon as I got home with another fabric and the black discoloured the green so it put me off using it. So I thought I'd use it as a wearable muslin,and I love it. Can't wait to see more of your makes. Thank you so much Val🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️

    Hi, good to see you back. I'm surprised your a size 14 in rtw, you look much smaller! My body measurements are quite close to yours, 34, 29, 41. I made a size 3 for the Stevie and I usually go for a size 4 in her woven patterns. I still had to take it in a lot and I actually changed the shape slightly to come in at the waist to accommodate my pear shape. Great vlog xx

I’ve put on so much weight recently as I’ve not been too well so I’m looking for something boxy to hide it bit until I can hopefully lose some of the weight. Thanks for the inspiration 😻

      thanks Maureen 😊 I feel a bit funny about using Tilly's method on here, so I'll leave it in the pattern for now if that's ok. I know designers work so hard to come up with new ways, it must be frustrating for them when other's demo their ideas. Hope you understand, I try to be as kind as possible to other creators.

    I had the same fitting issue when I made the SewOverIt ultimate shift dress. Very baggy in the waist. I ended up giving up on that pattern. I was afraid of having the same issue in future makes. If you make any alterations that work, please show us. I would love to try them on my shift dress.

    • @published1789
      @published1789 5 лет назад +1

      Me, too. With the SOI Ult. Shift Dress, I mean. I'm afraid it came out very much like a potato sack on me ... not loose and flowy or pleasant, just baggy. That experience has put me off the Stevie, for now. I'm sure it's a great pattern. But I also feel that a lot of whether a shift dress looks nice on me (or the Stevie style with grown on sleeves) has to do with how the shoulders sit and that doesn't feel like something I can tweak yet. But I'm sure enjoying it on others -- so many people are making it!

    • @ruthlanwarne8978
      @ruthlanwarne8978 5 лет назад +3

      I just took my shift dress in at the sides until it felt more fitted. The other option would be to put fish eye darts in the back.

    • @StitchyBee
      @StitchyBee  5 лет назад +1

      The Ultimate Shift fitted me better. I guess the best way to check before cutting is to lay out the pattern over a well fitting similar garment you own and compare.

    • @louiselill1528
      @louiselill1528 5 лет назад +1

      I would of thought it will make them smaller but not by much look at a pattern that has several sizes and it gives you the size from large to smaller and you can see the difference

    • @StitchyBee
      @StitchyBee  5 лет назад

      I think on this pattern, there's room around the arms, but you're right to point it out as most patterns would be tight. Best to grade down at the waist and hip if the top fits well already.
