    Eye Health Question: When was the last time you had pink eye? Was it viral or bacterial?

      I recently had pink eye not too long ago. I’m pretty sure it was from bacterial/viral, when I accidentally splashed water in my eye at work. I wear contacts, and I caught a cold at the same time I got pink eye. I had pink eye for a week and a half.

    Drink a cup of tea, then slap the warm tea bag on the eye, if that doesn't work then go see a doctor. The tannic acid in the tea bag kills the bacteria but will not harm the eye. I'm 70 and have never yet had an eye infection that that did not fix.

      @@sweetblackguns I've always used black tea, it has to have tannic acid to be effective. The tannic acid will not sting or harm your eyes, and is strong enough to take out the bacteria. Anything that irritates your eyes can cause mild pinkeye, I used to get it from my sunscreen if the wind was blowing into my face. If the pinkeye does not go away overnight after the tea bag treatment, then see a doctor. It even works on pets with eye irritations. Its my standby for kittens.

      @lake5044 Год назад

      @@GamesAndWeirdStuff I think being a "real doctor" is overrated. When giving information, a doctor often just provides information that is freely available online and in books. Sure I'd want a dentist or a surgeon that practiced physically so much so that they don't slip. But in a diagnostics only setting, I'd simply want as much relevant information as possible. So yes, experience will make the person better at remembering and finding the right information, but it's not like a typical "real doctor" is making research findings... Or put differently: I don't even trust "real doctors". I want information so I can validate it from as many sources as possible.

    • @lake5044
      @lake5044 Год назад

      @@smrk2452 hmm don't "trust" the information. Validate it from different sources and assume everyone can be wrong, even if they are a "real doctor". My comment was just saying that a non real doctor willing to share the information is more helpful to me than a real doctor who doesn't wanna explain their reasoning.

    Bacterial conjunctivitis right now. Used to have it as a kid often I remember (used to have a monthly eye drop prescription to keep it at bay and also to treat it every time it popped up). Haven’t had it as an adult until now (age 35 years) and my gosh, it’s cruel. My eyelid is so puffed up it hardly opens. Blood vessels in eyeball super visable, that gritty feeling under the eyelid, strings of stuff weeping out. Saw the doctor yesterday after battling it for a week alone, and confirmed acute bacterial conjunctivitis. Given an eye ointment (golden eye ointment, in the uk) which includes antibiotics, 4 times a day for a week. After a day of using, although it looks no different, it feels different, the gritty feeling is lessening, pain is somewhat less. Still weeping gross stuff, but that will hopefully lessen and go within the week. Thanks for the video, all knowledge is useful.

    Have pinkeye NOW; contracted 10 days ago, symptoms started 5 days after that, first in right eye, then left as well, It was Christmas holidays; no docs in offices; went to Urgent care on 6th day and given Polymyxin B Sulfate & Trimethoprim Ophth. After 3 days my eyes were worse so, Internist back in his office, he called in a second Rx which is helping somewhat: Neomycin & PolymyxinB Sulfates & Dexamethasone Ophth. Now my eyelids (all peri-eye lid skins) are fragile, flaky, itchy, burning yet; swelling is down; eyes a little less red; this is day 3 of the new Rx drops. Today is Sat. & considering calling my ophthalmologist Monday. I'm 74, Female, live alone, take Humera for psoriasis. Have not had any fever, greenish discharge is lessening, some throat irritation & ear drums a little congested. Any other suggestions? this is throwing me way off my ability to live constructively. And how long is this to last?

    About seven years ago I got a sore right eye three years in a row. The first two times my doctor was treating it with steroids but the third year I explained to him it felt like dry eye with sand under the bottom eye lid. There was no inflammation and he prescribed artificial tears. When he gave me steroids it didn't really help but the artificial tears cleared it up real fast. I haven't had the sore red eyes since then though. Just an itch by my tear duct by my nose in the summer months.
    I don't think it was conjunctivitis. It was probably just dry eye or hay fever. But i at be wrong about that. I say it may be hay fever because in the summer months or high pollen days I get an itch in my eyes just by my nose and a bad headache to go with it.
