    I suffer from MGD and the warm compress was the cure (I use an electrically powered one from amazon and it does the trick just fine). Having suffered from flare ups of very sore and swollen blocked glands (where most people thought I had an infection or stye) this was an incredible break through and help.
    I do it every day for 30 mins straight whilst I meditate and it keeps the glands clear but if I miss it for a week or so the glands block up again so it highlights the importance of staying consistent with it.
    I do suffer from dry eyes still, especially in the winter, so I'm continuously working on that, but delighted that I don't get the huge swollen glands now.
    P.S before I discovered the root cause by investigating myself I went to an optician and doctor multiple times and they were little to no use. In a nutshell, they said 'you have to live with it'. Don't lose hope people and research these problems yourself too.

I did have dry eyes and fibromyalgia and then the most severe kind name Cecelia decease that i could hardly walk. I change to a natural diet with different types of legumes, potatoes, chicken, mackerel salads with olive oil and lemon. I also consume hot chilly as they are anti inflammatory , anti depressant and kill destroy the e coli bacteria that cause ulcer and finally cancer. I wanted to asks is it normal for my eye to be red, swollen, and draining greenish oily stuff from my eye? I wake up with my eye sticky with greenish stuff hard to open my eye. Should I keep doing the warm compress? O~O

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  Год назад +1

      Hey thank you for asking and for your lovely comment. I am not sure how long after this is all happening post surgery. But whenever the eye is red, swollen and is associated with discharge, It is going to be important to talk to your doctor. There could be a risk for infection (although Doxycycline is an antibiotic it is often prescribed below the antibiotic threshold for chalazions for it's antiinflammatory effects). Typically warm compresses help, but I would give your doctor a call to confirm what they think is best for you in your case.
      Hope this helps.

  • @vw5056
    @vw5056 2 года назад +11

    @4:40 Did you ever try putting a middle finger at the outer eyelid junction and gently pulling towards the rear of the skull or slightly up and rearward? This works far better for me in releasing m gland oil and places far less pressure on the eye. You are in essence putting linear pressure on both lids at the same time and so is not only more effective at releasing oil but less time consuming.
    My doctor never told me this and so I'd rather follow my own proper instructions as my methods have offered better results than any eye doctor's help.

    Does this work with people who have corneal erosion?

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  Год назад

      Hmmm. Well corneal erosions are a whole different story. Ideally the corneal erosion is treated and is less likely to re-occur. But if dry eye also plays a role, the warm compress may help with the dry eye, however, I would be concerned if too much heat and pressure would warp the cornea and cause an increased risk of erosion. What has your doctor said?

    I have a Honest Question Doctor: I have been suffering from Left eye dryness and itchiness for 13 years, I have seen many doctors, applied eye ointments and drops, tried home remedies....nothing works....still the pain and ichiness. Doctors say there is absolutely nothing wrong with my eyes but I still feel the uncomfortableness in my Left eye....Do you really feel that there is a Permanent solution to my problem or should I just accept the pain and itchiness for life. Please do answer my question realistically. Thank you 🙏

      Thanks Rahuul (cool name btw). That can be a tough scenario. If it is just 1 eye that seems to always be the problem, it makes me wonder what could be irritating it. Like if someone always sleeps on that side. Or if there was trauma or something that would explain the unilateral aspect of the symptoms. I like to give your doctors the benefit of the doubt, but i wonder has anything helped??? Otherwise I wonder how you would react to stronger medications or even specialty contact lenses. I never like to give up on people - but some people do suffer from chronic pain and even phantom pain issues. Perhaps it could be nerve related. Either way, I hope you can find a specialist in your area who can work with you and approach it with some level of curiosity, because that will probably be the only way to figure out what is going on. Wish you the best.

    compressing the eye inwards COULD BE what's drying the eyes and pushing the fluid that's inside of it out leaving it dry! and espcially with a warm pads that will just be worse because the the warmth will cause more evaporation
    what i would do to restore that hydration in my eyes if they needed it is to suck my eyes out with a suction cup very very extremely gently ( as there is a pressure in the eyes you dont want to mess with )
    because thats the problem with humans anatomy ,, our eyes are structured in our heads in such a way that they can only be pushed inwards when we rub our eyes with our fingers and there is absolutely no action that will pull and " fluff " they eyeball out
    the second thing that i would do is use cold pads on my eyes with no compression what so over and then i would put oil drops in my eyes and oil around the eyes with natural oils .. i used castor oil once and it worked fine .. but its best that you search the internet and see what oils are exactly safe for the eyes
    I didnt watch the video and probably they maker of the video did not mean physical compression applied to the eyes .. but the word "compress" is misleading and definitely clouding the danger of compressing the eyes in .. compression not only drys the eye but could be also contributing to other eyes problems

We often either don't have the time in clinic to give such level of instructions (hence why I try to make these videos) and many doctors might not even know this info - as I had to dig into the research to find out a lot of this - it is not something gone over in depth in our education. Sorry but my question might be off track.. but I need an urgent answer on my condition. Lasik in Singapore on both eyes in 2005 brought my L 775 R 450 to nearly 20/20 before my right vision degraded and the Professor in Perth decided to implant a new lens (cataract) in 2016. 5 year post, now the very eye develops fog (not nearsightedness).
    My questions:
    1. Do you reckon such as Posterior capsule opacification (PCO)?
    2. If the case, is such a serious condition?
    3. What opthalmologist focuses in corresponding discipline and if surgery need be done, would it be a day or overnight one?

      Thanks for sharing your story Kahan! PCO is very common after cataract surgery and it can cause blurred or foggy vision. Of course, you first need to see your doctor and have them confirm that it what is going on. PCO is thankfully not considered a serious condition and is treated very easily. In fact it takes less than a few minutes to fully treat and remove it using a laser in the office (you do not even have to go back into surgery, it can be done there in the office). So if that is the case, you should not have to spend the night in the the hospital. I hope you can see the doctor and that they can help you with some good news. Wishing you the best. Cheers
