    I definitely agree that a turbo would make that little 4 banger go crazy. Especially how the NA-NCs change.
    I just feel like the main reason most people wont install a turbo would be cause of the warranties lol

      That is a good reason. I bought my Miata as a salvage title and its also from 2016, so definitely no warranty there! Its been surprisingly reliable since.

      That doesn't stop people with brands from other cars. Turbo charging is not popular on ND's, it's something I've noticed.

    Hiya, my turbo nc 25ae (BBR Stage 2 305bhp) is the best fun car i've ever had and i've owned big bhp skylines, Supra's, Evo's and silvia's.. But a turbo mx5 is another level, nearly super car status and the biggest grin ever on your face.

    Always said the engine is a disappointment. If they put a turbo on there. It would give a Porsche Boxster a good run. Sold my 2020 BBR Club. I owned a Mazdaspeed Miata 20 years ago. Factory Turbo was great!

      Its a very reliable disappointment, reliability is everything, introduce any forms of forced induction, then the reliability will likely suffer.
      The MX5 doesn't need more power, its perfect the way it is.

      The ND2 makes more hp in NA form than the mazdaspeed did in factory turbocharged form.

    I think my concern is the side-effect of the turbo, which is a lower redline. My Si had lousy lag and was only fun from 2,500-5,500 RPM and then it fell off a cliff, even though it redlined at 6,500.
    Only 3k RPM of "fun" combined with the short gearing of a 6speed meant i was constantly shifting.
    Roadsters are supposed to be high-revving with immediate throttle response, and most non-variable compression turbo's only have about 3,000-3,500 RPM of grunt b4 they run out of steam.
    I would hate my ND2 if it died at 6,000RPM. I love that i can hammer the throttle for what feels like an eternity before needing to shift.

      The redline is raised to 7000 rpm, and it starts to drop off around 6100 rpm. Still is good to go up to 7000 rpm in 1-3 gears but in 4-6 is better to shift around 6100.

      This is why supercharger is better suited to the MX5. It won't be quite as fast but it will still drive like an MX5.

    Hi from Italy and a 30ae owner. Let me suggest a mod: steering wheel. I bought a guardian design corsa 330 and man, what a difference! I'm pretty sure you can find some (cheaper) alternatives there but a smaller diameter rim needs to be on the "must have" list!

    I want to watch your videos , but you need to up our mic game. Hearing your voice in the background keeps me from being able to watch your videos. It’s not convenient for me to have to lip read to watch your video. I ave it on in the background. By not being able to clearly hear you over the car noise makes me tune out and watch another video.

    i was looking at buying an s2k or an sti than rfs popped up and man a turbo rf might be the move. they're so much newer and low mileage than my other choices and they're reliable as hell. i like building jdm drift style cars for the track and im trying to find RFs in that style and its kinda ahrd

      Turbo actuator boost issues, resulting in a lovely little sports car going into limp mode.

    0.3 bar of boost? why even bother for 30% more power? Why 0.5-1 bar at least? 9-14 psi doesn't seen that higher

      It makes around 250HP and torque. Any more would bend the connecting rods.

    Ive owned numerous turbocharged cars over the years, and even though they are usually very reliable, when they develop faults, their a nuisance to fix.
    Turbo actuator issues, LIMP MODE, no thanks, the beauty of the MX5 is its simplicity, a simplicity that results in its incredible reliability.
    Mazda wisely decided not to go down the turbocharging route, I WONDER WHY ? and their only turbocharged model, the Mazdaspeed, was a one off.
    The MX5 is one of the most reliable cars on the road, introduce a turbo to the equation, and its reliability will suffer.
