How fast is my supercharged Miata? Fast enough to draw attention from the police, unfortunately. This video will look at four separate tunes and dyno results (power and torque), for both naturally aspirated and supercharged Mazda MX-5s. I will also measure acceleration results before and after installing a supercharger, which results in my MX-5 posting similar acceleration to a Honda Civic Type R. Is the supercharger kit worth it? Will my Miata remain reliable? Does the kit offer a powertrain warranty? Is the kit emissions compliant? Are there any drawbacks to the kit/tune? What's the car like to drive with the added power? Lots of questions answered in the video!

It was a smart move. If he just said "I'm a youtuber" the cop would probably think he was some douchebag influencer who bought the car because it was yellow and goes 'rar', whereas boring him to death with electronic throttle technicalities puts him into the science nerd category and probably gets him off lighter.

It was really cool. But the cop really seemed interested. Even when I thought Jason pushed too much on the explication, the cop did a follow-up question that not only still showed interest, but also showed that he was listening. Pretty cool guy

Overall, my experience with most police has been pleasant, but I know some personally that are scumbags, but I also know others that good stand up guys. It's unreasonable to generalize either way, but acting scummy will certainly make for worse experiences .

@John Jalas They kill far more black people proportionally. Whites get lighter sentences for the same crime, are arrested far less for the same drugs (despite the same level of consumption) ,etc etc. The justice system is broken and yes if Jason was black he'd probably have gotten a ticket despite not having any changed behavior.
@John Jalas The NAACP and many others have compilations of various studies, and most importantly when discussing big picture information, meta analysis. For something easily digestable which includes controlling for factors such as location, etc, look up Fact Sheets by the University of Michigan on legal racial disparity or "Racial Disparity in Federal Criminal Sentences". Beyond that, you shouldn't address facts as suppostions. Black ppl are *factually* given a "worse time" shall we say though the justice system. Trying to deny that against the mountains of evidence in a simple Google search just shows where your priorities lie. Just to make things clear I'm not going to argue with you or attempt to change your mind, nor do all the googling for you, but I'd like for anyone else who comes across this to pick up on what happens if you know for certain minorities, especially black ppl, are harmed by a system and how the goal posts move.

Would you be able to do a video to show us how to calculate or how to know what the torque limit of the connecting rods are in our engines.
I'm in Sweden and to forge the engine is very expensive, it is acutely more expensive than replacing the engine almost 3 times if a disaster happens.
The thing is that nobody really knows how much power the connecting rods can handle in my Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart it comes stock with 150bhp but I have tuned it to 270hp and about 30% more torque. I can pushing it more but like i said, I dont know how much the rods can handle and I don't want to break the engine and still have fun. Is there any way of knowing this. There is no such info/data in any document from Mitsubishi.
I know you work mainly with VW but it would be a very interesting video.

I did the same thing many years ago in my 1970 Torino GT. Drove right by and saw him, then came back that way a while later and forgot he was there while having a bit of fun. The officer was not nearly as amused and gave me a ticket .

This shot was when the car was being flashed with a new tune, and so all lights are on as the car is essentially in some sort of diagnostic mode. The RPM gauge is a measure of the tune being uploaded at that point, ie. RPM readout is 'tune upload progress' as it sweeps from 0-8k RPM.

The cop ran back to his car stating " I could run your plates " ending the lesson for today. Jason I have the same car only in Artic White with no SC. So far I've been let off with no tickets but stopped 5 times. If your friendly to the cop there is something about a Miata that makes officers put the ticket book away ! I've been seriously over the limit & got off with no ticket every time so far. I thought about the SC but I don't want to waste my extended warranty. Its been a really fun car to drive even without the added power.

This shot was when the car was being flashed with a new tune, and so all lights are on as the car is essentially in some sort of diagnostic mode. The RPM gauge is a measure of the tune being uploaded at that point, ie. RPM readout is 'tune upload progress' as it sweeps from 0-8k RPM.

CLASSIC !!...I thought the cop would shut you down, as you began explaining the electronics, but he was intreaged ! I was a cop, and saw alot of great cops, and a few not so great. But most were fair and very understanding. You just need to remember that they are people too. Too funny !
Jason, because of this episode, i installed an Edlebrock Supercharger that makes 202wHP and 190torque. And it has been fantastic since then. Its on a custom tune. stay safe bro!
