Hi Lindsay and Sammy, A very inspiring video. As beautiful as Idaho is, it is the political and social environment that is the big draw. Thank you so much for making these videos that show us that Idaho really is a gem.
I plan on retiring in the area of Coeur D'Alene in 9 years. Friends moved from San Diego about 12 years ago and we just visited the area last year. Boy what a wonderful state you have, and I can't wait till the day comes that I can call Idaho home! Reasons why to move: 1 Resources plenty of water, cost of Electricity, and heat much cheaper. 2 More space, plenty of breathing area, we plan on trying to find something in Athol if possible. 3 Plenty of outdoor activities to do when the weather is right. 4. Less people 5. Cost of living, although you may call your cost of living as high still doesn't compare to what we are used to in Southern California. 6. People are very friendly, and our friends tell us they are even better once you claim Idaho as your home so change those license plates quick! Oh and don't move in wanting to change the way things are done up there just relax and go with the flow is what they say! The only draw back is the wife is getting scared by your winters especially when she just started tracking it this year and sure enough you've been experiencing more than unfriendly weather very early!
21:00 We visited Coeur D’Alene in 1969 when our friends also from SF Bay Area moved up. I loved North Idaho and 9 years later our family moved to Post Falls. We were tired of the crime in CA and North Idaho homes were more affordable at the time. Everyone except my dad adapted to our new environment. My parents moved to the Seattle area a year later where my dad got a job at Boeing. I vowed that I would return one day, so I hope to retire in North Idaho.
I'm a Minnesota transplant who is now living in California, What I have found, is that the cost of living, other than gas is about the same as Minnepolis, MN. Some things are surprisingly lower and a few things are a bit higher. What I hear from people who move to Idaho is that they want to be around some very very conservative people, the Trumpers. You had problems with these people who were organizing to take down the LGBTQ community, these divisive and dangerous people are going to destroy your state as with the lack of regulations, they are allowed to congregate and plan to hurt people who are not white, who are different in their sexuality and people who are liberal and who enjoy diversity. These are hateful people, so your crime rate is going up, you also forgot to report that there was a quadrupable murder and the police are so inexperienced, they can't find the suspect. So, your state is changing and will continue to go downhill . The reason I would never live in Idaho is because I treasure diversity and open minded people who are not out there hating on those who are not white, straight and believes that hatred is the way of life ,that this country should follow. As far as housing, those from LA know that they could own a good home for the same prices as you quoted but it would be outside of LA, Orange County and San Francisco,
They also have a problem with (MAPS), Minor Attracted Persons. What I like about California is that we DON'T have an interest in any of that community, Christian-love crap as we just want to party because who knows about tomorrow? I agree with you- that sense of Nationalism-community crap is just that! I will be glad when the Richard Kalergi Plan is fully realized!!
