Angel, Thanks so much. This video was awesome. I'd taken the agitator off and replaced the dogs, then took the pump off and checked the impeller, worked my way back to the motor and the couplers, nothing. Then I found your video and you walked me through it. Now my old Whirlpool is running better than ever. You are the man when it comes to explaining repairs. Keep it up, man!
FANTASTIC!!! After watching multiple videos, and spending about an hour trying the re-mount the transmission... only your video gave critical information regarding the positioning of the brake cam and clutch spring resulting in a successful re-assembly.
10 years old and this video keeps on giving…thanks for the help Angel, just did my clutch today. 👍
@8:00 this is what's missing from all the other videos, I watched this years ago and had to search it out again, THANK YOU!!!
You are amazing you are the ONE who explained about the resetting the brake assembly, grab it and PUSH it all the way in........God bless you
A very good video. I followed the video to repair my Estate ( made by Whirlpool) wash machine because the washer would no spin out the water any more with clothing inside, everything was wet and dripping. Small repair shop locally who we got this unit from, used after they repaired it wanted $285 to repair it and that's with us bringing it to them. This video and $17 plus my labor with my wife's help and the unit works great again. YEA!!!
Amazing! Great video. No fluff. No distracting or inflating narration. Just the facts. Great job, Applianceman! Thanks.
You are our hero. This is the only video we saw that addressed The positioning of the clutch spring and the brake cam. We successfully lined things up and reinstalled after much frustration. We can’t thank you enough!

I found your channel just now. Very very helpful. I was really impressed in how you troubleshoot and explain how things work and how to install everything. Imma subscribe for sure 👍👍👍
7:51 was an important step left out in other videos. After finding this video and doing the job a 2nd time my washer was fixed. Thank you. Thumbs up.
I think I did the same thing the first time as well... Was it making a loud noise after your first go at it? Mine was.
@chuckswasheranddryerrepair963 I forget but, I think this video helped me get it working again.
Appliance Man - Thanks so much for this video. I was chasing down a no spin issue with my Kenmore 800 series. I changed the lid switch, the coupler, the clutch, and eventually the transmission and the capacitor… Your videos have been extremely helpful. Thank you.
bro your videos are gold! You explain the part, how it works, and how to replace it! Awesome!
Best video I have seen explaining how the clutch works and how to check it out without disconnecting anything. Thank you.
Best Teacher ever. The Edit to double instruct important steps is Brilliant.
Thanks Angel...you are an, well, I'm sure somebody has already said it! Your video, a $20 parts kit, and our 20 something washer is rocking on. The clutch spring colors threw me for a loop. The old one was red, but the kit came with only blue and green. Turns out the blue one was the one to go with.
I just changed the clutch on my whirlpool washing machine and it’s spinning and agitating more reliably now. The hardest part was screwing the transmission back into the washing machine, everything else was super easy. Thank you so much!
Excellent video. I just sanded the clutch drum alittle and the pads and cleaned it up real good and it was perfect. I also drilled and tapped and threaded screws into the brake cam because the groove for the clip wore out. Thanks!
Dude seriously great video..the little details about clutch alignment an using the pump clips to assist In pulling the drive in an out,, pure genius. Thanks Angel
I followed your instructions today and this fixed my washer. Thank you so much for a great step-by-step video.
You have the very best videos on Whirlpool Washers. You give more important details than anyone else. Thank You so much. Gracias Amigo!
I had no idea these washers (I have a 1997 LSR7233EZ0) have a neutral drain. While diagnosing a broken balance spring I noticed for the first time that tub doesn't spin while draining. The thing is, if you open the lid switch during drain, and then close it again, it *will* start to spin! So after replacing the balance springs, I thought I had a bad clutch.. but no, it's just normal operation. Thanks, man ! I can't believe I've had this machine since 2010 and I didn't *know* it drains without spinning the tub!
As a repairman this is some great information.
Excellent video. I was able to replace the clutch in our Whirlpool and that fixed the washer not spinning. Great tips on the proper positioning of the clutch spring / brake cam. Thank you!
The most helpful and informative video on the no-spin problem.
PLEASE READ EVERYONE!!!
My wife got a our washer from a used appliance store 6 months ago. Last week it stopped spinning and would dry anything. Couldn't figure it out found this video. THE BESTTTTTT video out of hours of searching. Went through his test sprayed water... bam.. it boils!! Clutch over worked, problem solved!? Nooooo. Wht this company did was fail to install the THRUST WASHER with the agitator and placed some sort of washer to hold the place; once it wore off. No spinning but consistent agitation cycles. Please check because this piece is easy to miss and is very important because it is located between the bottom base and top agitator; used to connect the agitator dog housing unit to the base by use of friction from said THRUST WASHER. I really hope this helps anyone from wasting time and money, because of people try to get a quick dollar. This video is amazing and a blessing g
This is gold! Thank you sir! Clutch and motor coupler replaced, washer back in service.
I just fixed my washer. Thanks for the video!!
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to help us "handy guys" who have not fixed a washer yet! Great Stuff!
Really enjoyed the information you give. my Whirlpool washer won't spin but does agitate. I'll have to try that spray bottle to see if it is my clutch
Excellent video and instructions! Took me about an hour to replace the clutch following your video. Just wish it had fixed my non-spinning washer problem! Coupler is fine. Agitates fine. If I spin the tub counterclockwise after the wash cycle until it releases it will spin just fine.
Wow your explanation is awesome!! Very clear, please continue posting videos.
Thanks for your videos. Followed the step by step instructions and now works like new. Plus I learned a lot about the machine.
I been working on front loaders so long that I had to watch your vid to re-learn how to fix top loaders
Thanks for this, didn’t have a spray bottle so just decided to touch it and leave my fingerprint there for identification 😂 yes the clutch was that hot as you said it would be
Thanks for the tutorial on this. Very easy after your explanation. Thanks again!
Excellent video. Very clear explanation. Thank you very much. 👍
your video is a very professionally well done...!!!! Thank you so very much.
Excellent Video, well explained... You made it simple.!
Thank you for a detailed explanation which other videos didn't have that helped me
Excellent presentation !!
Thanks. Your video saved my bacon.
Man, thanks for this video! Helped me with replacing my clutch!
This helped tremendously! Saved a lot of money! Thank you so much 😁
Great video as well as camera work I've subscribed .
He sure did my it easy. Thank you
Hi there.. I'm having this problem as well. I haven't checked with the sprinkle of water on the clutch as you have mentioned here since I have already removed the transmission from the machine. I checked by tying to move the ring inside the clutch with my fingers. The ring moves but with some good resistance when I try to push it.. Other folks mentioned that if the rings moves easily with your fingers pushing on it, than the clutch is bad, otherwise it is ok.. I will try to replace the clutch anyway and see if that solves my problem.. Thanks for sharing.
I received an after market replacement kit and it came with 2 springs and instructions for them which I didn't have that info. I used the same color spring I removed and believe it was proper. The ready installed spring was too small and wrong color so I swapped the spring and it made the clutch tighter which was the objective. The parts store had a sign up stating to check out all parts before purchase to make sure they are correct.
Excellent video. Detailed! Although I do not understand much about the face plate you mentioned. My washer is screaching rather than spinning (spin cycle.) Think that could be the clutch.
There is nothing wrong with my washer, but I found this video to be enjoyable. Only one question: how do you remove the agitator?
Thanks
Outstanding!
My top load whirlpool 20 year old washer doesn't seem to extract as much water as it used to. I replaced the motor to tranny coupling which was broken and measured the spin RPM at ~500 rpm.
👏 well done 👍
You rock thanks from ohio
Thank you!
I can not say thank you enough!
Awesome thanks so much dude!!! :)
Thank You!!! 🇺🇸 😎👍☕
Thanks 👍
Hello Angel Acevedo, your video is great...Thank you for the easy to follow steps, with good lighting. My Whirlpool after replacing the coupler last weekend - instead of not spinning - seems to spin, but at a very low speed. Can you advise what may possilbly active the spin cycle slowly instead of super fast?? Sincerely, BP
I don’t position the spin tube I just put the transmission in and it will engage on its own.
Angelo.... After re-assembling the washer, we tested it with a small load. All seemed fine until 3 or 4 minutes into the agitating /wash cycle the washer started making a screeching noise, soon followed by a burning rubber smell. We shut it down and then manually set it to spin to get rid of the water...the sound continued until we shut it down. I disassembled the agitator and inspected the plastic bushing and noticed I installed the metal spring clip / spacer so that the white pin was between the ears of the clip. I rotated the clip so that the white pin was outside of the ears of the clip and tested it again but still getting the screech. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Great video!!! Angel what does the plastic ring at 6:15 do?
I just love this trouble shooting tip . Simple
Hello. If the agitator BASE does not move in either direction does that mean it's the clutch? This is on an older ge eterna series that's not spinning or agitating. I took off the coupler and the teeth still looked great. Thank you.
The plastic piece (brake cam?) won't stay on good because the retaining clip keeps falling off. Any ideas? I put a new clutch and now that clip won't stay on.
I have 2 parts that fell off the shaft in the drum.. hoq do they go back?
Need help... I did the clutch repair on a LSR7010pq1. The center shaft was corroded and would not come out. Took a lot of effort, hammering and time but I got it out. I removed the inner spin basket thinking it would help me get the shaft out. Wrong.
The drive block is stuck in the basket and no amount of hammering with a 4lb mallet will set it free. Replaced clutch and reassembled without issue. The drive block was very difficult to tighten and get it to lock on the shaft. But I got it tight. Now when empty, Low spin is fine but in high spin it goes violently out of balance.
I checked the suspension components and they are all in tact. The Spin basket remained attached to the shaft after several tests.
Not sure what went wrong. I think it is related to the drive block or the basket. What confuses me is that it is fine on low spin.
I am going to run it without the Spin basket to see what happens.
Any Ideas what my problem is ?
Is this washer semi automatic or full automatic
Had a 2” brass looking nail with a hole near the end for a cotter pin fall out. No idea where it came from. Any help is appreciated
Hi. My Whirpool model 4PWTW57825SW0. The Agitator is working on both wash and rinse. The Drain cycle is working. The machine Timer control goes to full automatic cycle. The problem is after wash and rise cycle, it does not SPIN to squeeze the water on the cloth so after end of each cycle, the clothes are soaking wet. What could be the problem ? which parts need to be replaced ? (Brake ?, Clutch? or Timer Control ? Hope for your kind recommendation.
Appliance Man- My gear case will not budge. What do I do? I have removed the agitator but it will only slide out a half inch or so.
Mine has a belt that broke. The Clutch, coupling and pretty much everything looks great except the belt. Where does the belt go to, it's not as obvious as one would think. Please help
What is the part called where the brake cam installs. The part with the yellow spring. How is that replaced and how do you know that Isn't bad?
On my washer I can see the clutch housing spin but nothing else. All spinning stops there. I assume the inside parts of the clutch are bad. Bit could it he the part above that. ?
💛😃🙌
When I took off the transmission on my 110 90 series it did not have a thrust washer. Do some of them not have those?
Does the nut holding the agitator need to be removed before removing the transmission?
Does this washer have speed sensor
Can you fix my ? I have the problem clothes water coming out when I squeeze it
I noticed my washer with full loads take a while to get up to full spin speed, think it’s the clutch slipping?
How do I know what spring to use? They look the same
Does anyone know the part number on the brake cam c-clip? I need a new one. Mine is gone
I did all of this, new clutch and gearbox assembly, and the washer is still not spinning unless I start it by hand. I’ve switched between a green spring and blue spring on the clutch. What else can the problem be?
I’m having this same problem. I replaced the clutch but it still only spins if I get it started manually with my hand.
Did you ever find out the problem to the no spin unless you manually spin it? I changed the gearbox and clutch, and it's still not working properly.
I NEED HELP. MY Machine only spins when laying down on its side. Everything works except it doesn't spin. I replaced the clutch. So, I turned it on on its side and the spin cycle works when laying on its side but when I stand the washer up in it's normal position,. It will not spin. If I move the washer upright while the drum is spinning, it will continue to spin until I shut it down and when I turn it back on, it will no longer spin. Why could this be?
8:49 That’s What She Said.
Clutch isolator 6:15
My Whirlpool washer was not spinning so i replaced the clutch and brake cam as directed. It spins great now but at end of spin cycles the drum does not brake but just spins till it comes to a stop. There is also a strange rattle noise at the beginning of the spin cycles. Did I push the brake assembly up too far? It seems as if the brake cam is not connecting with the clutch.
Same as you here did you ever figure out what it was? Ty
@@jerryohanlonhighperformance hello...no i never figured it out.....its still spinning dry every time but ive only noticed it not braking only once every 20-30 cycles.....maybe something is working its way out
What is the model of this washer?
beco washing machine not spinning
Still searching for why my Whirlpool washer does not agitate. Agitator gears in the agitator is good, motor coupler is good. Frustrating
No hablo Inglés español por fabor
This is second Applianceman video I've used to repair my 25 year old Kenmore, and the second one that has worked exactly as shown! As mentioned below, this is the only video I've seen that mentions resetting the brake and aligning the brake and clutch springs. Total time for this repair, including watching this video and taking notes, getting tools, changing the parts, and clean-up was 60 minutes
Thanks for the comment

I’m a maintenance manager assistant and your video literally is making money for me. I didn’t know how to this until I watched your video. Unfortunately in our property we have nothing but stackables so the space is limited and makes things trickier. Nonetheless you cover the points that matter. Thanks to my experience working on appliances by watching videos like yours I got bumped up to $27/hr as a tech before getting promoted
Good going I am very happy for you
Thanks for making this video. After replacing the clutch kit in my machine I had a taping noise when it agitated. Your the only one that mentioned the how to line up the springs and the brake cam. Now I have a sound machine. Thank you for the video again.
I have the same tapping noise problem
Excellent instruction. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Appreciate the details on lining-up the clutch with the brake mechanisms. Very nice.
Thanks Angel! You are a very good teacher! Tomorrow I get to go to the appliance place and find out why my c-clip on the white brake plastic thing comes off, like the groove isn't deep enough to hold it. Wish me luck! Your video has been an excellent assistant.
Thanks to your tutorial video I could fix my wife´s washing machine this morning, the video is very explicit and easy to understand, muchas gracias por compartir tus conocimientos, saludos desde Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I´m your #1 fan.
Thanks, will use Repair Clinic when I order a new clutch ass'y tomorrow. Again, this is a great instructional video, and I especially like the tip on troubleshooting a bad clutch with a spray bottle...TJ
You are amazing appliance man you have saved me an my family a great deal of money your videos are great thank you very much sir...
Great video and dead-on. However, be very careful of which clutch kit you purchase. My replacement lasted just 3 weeks and perhaps 15 loads of laundry before the clutch shoes wore down the rivets. I don't know if the cause was a weak spring or just cheap Chinese parts. For an emergency repair today (Sunday), I de-greased my old clutch drum and shoes, and scuffed them with emery paper. I added a washer to slightly increase spring pressure and all is well. Point is, buy OEM parts if you can.
