I'm driving James Bond's Aston Martin DB5! This is the new DB5 Goldfinger Continuation being built by Aston Martin Works and featuring all the 007 gadgets from Q like the front machine guns, smoke and oil slicks, bullet proof shield and plenty more. Not only am I going to run you through everything it can do, but also experience what it's like to drive in the most iconic Bond car ever!
I came back from watching your "Adventures in the Shmeemobile 4" since it was in my recommended. Hard to believe how much has happened in 9 years for you.
I remember being 13 years old and my mother dropping me off at the movie theater to go see diamonds are forever, by myself. I thought I was so cool. That was a long time ago. This car is too cool for school!
This has to be the coolest and most beautiful car ever made, I really do think that more car companies need to modernize the old classics like this, surely this experience makes you want to add a vintage or a classic car to the shmeemobiles! Also does that mean there isn't one road legal version out of the 25? Such a shame
I remember back in 1964 the original James Bond DB5 came to Nottingham and was on display in Truman's showroom on Huntingdon Street. I was 16/17 and went along with my camera. There was also a very nice model in a gold lame cat suit whom I took some photos of. I was also allowed to have a sit in the car. Happy memories.
@@ewancrosby7653 True true but I mean theres way too many cars from that time ... the design is timeless of these cars soo it's hard to pic and choose one😂😂
I am speechless WOW 4500 hours £2.5 million its the only car (DB5) THATS BUILT BY HAND AND EYE'S worth £2.5 million the most gorgeous car I've seen in a long time 👍 thank you Shmee made my evening 🇬🇧
Wow! The handcrafting is amazing. 4000 hours, no wonder the ownership price is so high. Nice to see that Aston Martin had the wherewithal to actually bring this model to fruition again. Beautiful car for a very fortunate few. As per usual, nice job Tim.👍👍
No windows can open period back in the 60s? I suppose he does not realise the buttons did not used to be on the doors, even my 50s land rover windows opened seems a somewhat clueless to think cars did not have opening windows. It was not until the 90s the buttons all ended up the doors think it was Americans that wanted the buttons the door. Still one of the best videos on the internet imagine buying a new DB5 I am not fussed on the bond features but a new DB5 shame it can not be drive but if could afford one would keep it in a countries that allowed it to be driven
Great video Shmee! I enjoy your style of cinematography. It is very personal, as if I was sitting with you. Some of the other You-tubers videos seem over produced by comparison. I have many fond memories of this car as I was five when the movie premiered. Thanks!
Why would people think the grizzly print I posted was faked ?? 🤦🏻♂️😂. Does the print maker in my hands help? 🤷🏼♂️ There’s no life like the adventure life 😉.
The stunt cars that they've used in various films are m3's. This is a brand new DB5 chassis built to the spec that they were when they were originally made
"non- working ejector seat...you must be joking!?"..... " I never joke about my MOT compliant work, 007!" I suppose if you can pony up $3m to buy one you could afford the liability & personal injury claims for ejecting unruly passengers! Also the tire shredding kinock-off spinners were omitted for obvious reasons.
Watched it only because I was curious about the tire shredder that would extend from the wheel hub. I know the ejector seat is technically impossible--Mythbusters couldn't replicate it without adding huge hydraulic cylinders inside the back of the seat, which made the seat look very unusual. Of course, you wouldn't really want that option anyway. Might accidentally kill somebody. I've seen one of the original movie cars, and it had the tire shredder, disguised to look like one of the knockoff wheel bolts. The guy mentions it at 15:00 as "the tire shredding kit" in a fancy box in the trunk, but nothing more. Disappointed :( Except for the bulletproof shield, I have doubts that any of those gadgets would actually work as intended in the real world. Mythbusters tested both oil-slick and smokescreen techniques, with mixed results. As I recall, smoke was only marginally effective; oil not at all. The license plate changer built into the front bumper, while clever, is a dead giveaway that the car's been altered. It just doesn't look right, even from a design perspective. No one would design a bumper like that. And then you have that cutout panel in the roof. Being only on the passenger side it doesn't look like a sunroof. Even the tire shredder I saw (IRL) wasn't very well disguised. (Perhaps why it's a "kit" on this car?) But it did look like it could do the job. A heavy-duty bladed thing, painted silver. But I'm just wondering if it's mechanically possible for that thing to come out of the axel, much less puncture a tire. Personally, I'd rather have an unmodified DB5 rather than this one with its fake gadgets and sound effects.
As much as I love the Bond car, give me a new DB5 in my choice of Austin Martin colors. Now you could leave the smoke, oil, bullet screen up dated and the radar screen, if it could be up dated to GPS. The voice would have to be a female British lady. Now I'm sure, I'll get some hate comments, I just want a DB5 to daily drive. The only other update I'd do, turbo charger that inline 6...
Well...the gearbox is a bit loud..it should not be like that even in period! At £3.3M and not road legal, I think only rather inexpert buyers would go for it as an “investment” object. Also...it must be the only “Flat six” engined Aston in history...I hope you opened the bonnet and had a look!!! I would not add that to your collection Tim...there are much nicer cars to buy!,😎😎😎😎
I had a Die Cast Model of this car in the 60's which most of the Q approved options were on it. My Grand Father worked for Austin it was, I believe it was a manufacturing promotional model. I believe it is still in storage in an attic on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Loved Q.
Stoke park with a DB5 what’s not to like. Always wanted to visit. Such a shame you can’t drive them bar this one on the road, such and iconic and beautiful Car. I’d swap Tim’s entire Garage- no joke for that Car that was registered and able to drive on the road with that plate 👍.
Try being a bus driver for 25 years or any job where your forever driving a multiple of different vehicles . After the first couple of thousand drives you can adapt your driving style/position subconsciously within seconds. Never ceases to amaze me the plasticity of the hooman brain. Great channel btw.
Ahh that smoke screen isn't impressive. I owned a 1966 rambler. When we pulled into a service station, we would say, fill the oil and check the gas. Lol. Smee, great channel. Love the car.
Fantastic, what a superb creation. We are lucky that Aston Martin has the balls to do this , I bet they are all sold as well .I’m sorry Mr Schmee but this knocks spots off your collection of cars with perhaps the exception of your personal Aston Martin , thank you for a brilliant video ,really enjoyable 👍👍👍
Just curious. Is it a car worth James Bond driving it? Or would a period Ferrari or Bentley been more likely? He liked it so much he drove it again in the 90’s and even later. Likely? Or just marketing?
