The original Vanquish S was a magnificent car, even if a lot of its interior fixtures came from the Ford parts bin and it butted heads with its own sister. And watching Brosnan whip it around Iceland with a minigun-equipped Jag on his tail was one of the reasons why Die Another Day is my favorite Bond flick.
This is the first modern TG video without Chris Harris that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Great video here lads! I have to say that the Esprit would be my pick. Lovely cars and presentation

I would've preferred the Vanquish from Die Another Day to represent the Pierce Brosnan era, and the DBS from Casino Royale is more iconic than the DB10 in the Daniel Craig era.

If you can wait another fifty years, you'll get a successor. BMW sees the Z8 as a follow up on the 507, which had similar problems. Didn't sell too well because of the price, but very well liked by everyone who couldn't afford one. Guessing by what they're doing at the moment, I'd say we are due for an M1 replacement first and the Z8 will get some sort of replacement in the 2050-2060 range.
I was a huge fan of the Vanquish with a V8 from a Mustang in Die another day, and the chase sequence in TLD with the vantage. Amazing callbacks to the Goldfinger DB5 with something unique of their own
The double James Bond car that does the stunts is an awesome car, that bad boy can make anyone believe that the original can do the same thing. That gadgets the oil spill the smoke even the machine gun hidden at the rear covered by the Austin Martin emblem and the drifting brings a smile to my face to the point of laughter . Great documentary. That's what I call "Top gear" show cars
In my opinion the DB5 is THE Bond car! When I think of James Bond the DB5 immediately comes to my mind along with the "Bond, James Bond" line and vodka martini.
This is by far the best Top Gear video since the holy trinity were expelled and you are by far better than any of the current presenters. Please Top Gear just change the show to this. Have this man be the host with a couple of his mates and just do good car reviews. This was perfect.
My dad’s a huge Bond fan, after showing him the Aston Martin Valhalla from SupercarBlondie, we started talking about all the cars Bond drove in the films. When he told me he was given a BMW, I gave him this face: 🤨 but now after looking at it, it doesn’t actually look that bad.
To my mind, the V8 Vantage from The Living Daylights is THE perfect Bond car... Not because of its gadgets but simply for its appearance and sonorous tone. Those muscular "muscle car" lines exude power even more than Bullitt's Mustang! The archetypal "Brute in a Suit", if ever there was one!!!
I agree, Jeremy Clarkson once described the V8 Vantage and its variants as "Merlin engined shore horses" "jet propelled stately homes" and "Blenheim palace going sideways" and if I could pick any one of those cars to keep Dalton's Vantage would be the one.

People seem to forget the modern DBS was announced as bonds new car before it was announced as a production car, a more radical and aggressive db9 at the time specifically tailored for 007. I still have that issue of CAR magazine. Love Astons and am proud to work for them
Funny you should say that. I was introduced to Aston Martin circa 1980 by a car magazine article (Car & Driver? Motor Trend? Not sure) and I remember well them saying the Aston V8 was the perfect bank heist getaway car because a) Nobody would know what it was and would describe it as looking like a Ford Mustang, and b) It drove like a scalded Peterbilt. Heavy as F***, but fast like a Ferrari.
There is something astonishingly mindbending seeing a DB5 drift. If they ever start selling those fibreglass bodied kit cars, sign me up. The DB5 is beautiful without the Bond pedigree.

Great film. I am a huge Bond fan since the late '80. Since the first one I've seen was The Living Daylights my all time favourite Bond Car is the V8 Vantage from 1985. Best there is. Abouth this film still. The prezenter gets quite a bit of fun in the DB10 and Z8, but those are the classisc starting from the V8 Vantage, that really bring the smile on his face. tip for top gear: mark higgins should feature more often in your series. The biggest edge you have against the old trio is Chris Harris, as he is the far more superior driver. Add Mark to your team as well. It adds so much.

The 1970 "Mustang "Mach 1" was re-designed to look like the 1967 Aston DBS.
