Dear listeners: It is with deep sadness to inform you that John (a teaching colleague of mine at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 3, 2009. May you forever rest in peace, John, and may your exemplary playing continue to thrill and entertain RUclipsrs around the globe!
I'm struggling so hard to learn this piece with the sheet music, and so sometimes I'll just tune in and listen to this to get a general idea, I got the first three main parts down, but hey, that's better than nothing!
Fingerstyle Ukelele! I am so sorry to hear of this man's passing... what a loss to the world in general... I only wish I had heard of him sooner, so I could have enjoyed him that much more! RIP, John!
Thank you so much for this amazing piece! I am currently learning it before Christmas and I have the first few lines down, I can't wait to learn the rest.
Amazing playing. Thanks for sharijng. I was admiring the wonderful tone of the Da Silva Uke as well. Beautiful looking and sounding. Thanks for posting this up.
I took violin for about 3 weeks. It was the second slowest instrument for me to learn. The slowest being ukulele since I had to teach myself that. Kinda ironic that I be living on Maui and yet I'm the only one of my friends who can actually play the uke.
I think it's safe to say nobody uses picks to play ukulele and it's meant to be picked or strummed by fingers/thumbs only. Mr. King was pretty famous for his "Campanella" technique on the uke, which is a finger picking style from the baroque period.
I can teach you how to play piano. But that's gonna be really hard since you're not here in person. I'm not sure about guitar. I can teach you the strings and how to put together chords and inversions but nothing more.

John King, the legend of the Ukulele lives on through his music.

Woahhh thats amazing

Bro ur mad talented
This is amazing, great song, and you display such mastery of the instrument! Do you always fingerpick with your fingers or do you ever use a pick?

I think you mean F# man. But I agree. Amount of strings doesn't matter if you know how to strum, pick, and finger well.
rest in peace
you are really good!

Pretty brilliant sir.
My fragile ego....how dare all of you be more talented than I.
Fooblestheclown1 You have the Canadian charm going for you though Foobles. Your poop videos are great too.
